"Clunky Fragile CMS with Limited Features"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

* Intuitive and easy learning curve to get started authoring content Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

* Search doesn't find video media (only image assets)

* Difficult to duplicate blocks.

* Too many clicks/screens required to edit blocks

* UI is slow, unresponsive, unpredictable (Sometimes, if CMS errors creating content, you just have to try another browser or reload to try again)

* Difficult to customize and make user-friendly. I've tried making the CMS more user-friendly for Content Editors, but this either requires a lot of development effort or isn't feasible.

* Preview mode not representative of actual published content and functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emma Davis of Optimizely Content Management System

Hi There,

Thank you so much for leaving us a review! We’re sorry to hear that you’ve been having some trouble with Optimizely CMS and we’d like to address some of the points you’ve made here. Concerning the issues you’re finding with our search, we now have an Optimizely DAM where you can search any file type you’d like. You can learn more here: https://www.optimizely.com/enhancements/asset-management/

As for the speed and reliability of our User Interface, an upgrade to our CMS 12 will solve the issues you’re experiencing, we highly recommend switching over as soon as possible.

On to our preview mode- we're currently focusing on increasing publishing transparency through the improvement of our preview feature. This focus is on our roadmap and an upgrade will be coming soon.

Surrounding the other roadblocks you’re experiencing, it would be much appreciated if you could share with your Customer Success Manager. We’re always looking to support our customers in any way possible. You can also leave us a message at reviews@optimizely.com and we’ll connect you with the right people. Thanks again!

"A really good leading CMS"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

Allows huge teams of editors to manage website copy and assets intuitively and productively.Love the projects features and A+B testing. Also the framework is well designed, in the past we've relied on the good c# design of the framework to reach in and customize items via inheritance and dependency injection. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

Sometimes our clients need hundereds or thousands of products in a single directory/catalog node, and when that happens the UI in the front end start losing features and slowing down, so we have to ask clients to carefully consider the product layout. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emma Davis of Optimizely Content Management System

"Optimizely CMS is a developer friendly, highly custimizable CMS"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

I like that Optimizely CMS runs on the latest .NET version (6 and now 7) and is really developer friendly. We can make use of a fantastic open-source ecosystem of (NuGet) packages to extend the CMS, as well we can write them ourselves to meet any business requirement we can think of. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

The biggest downside to Optimizely CMS is its pricing, unfortunately. I work at a partially government-funded charity organization that has to comply with some public Procurement Act, so we might be forced to switch from DXP to on-prem or, worse, another CMS, which nobody here really wants, though... The pricing also made the CMS a hard sell when I worked at Indivirtual. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Emma Davis of Optimizely Content Management System

"Easy to work with but lacks state-of-the-art features"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

Easy to set up new page types and blocks if you know how. Highly customizable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

I have worked with Shopware 5 and 6 before and found a lot of features missing in Optimizely. Why do I need to add redirects manually if a page changes its title? Why do I need to code to add new page types and blocks if it is so simple anyways? Why is there no separation between menu items and pages? They often have the same name so at least a different icon would be helpful. Everything has to be coded instead of configured in the backend. Performance is also not great and lacks effective caching mechanisms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
