What do you like best about Gusto?

What I like best about Gusto is how easy it was to get started as an independent contractor. The onboarding process was smooth and simple, with clear steps that didn’t take much time or hassle. It made managing my payments stress-free, which is exactly what I needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

I honestly don’t have any dislikes about Gusto from my side as a contractor. Everything has been straightforward and easy to use. The only thing I’m curious about is how the platform works on the management side, since I don’t have access to that part of the system through Honeypot Social. It would be interesting to see how payroll and other processes are handled from their perspective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

Gusto solves the headache of dealing with payments and taxes as a contractor. It keeps everything simple and clear, so I don’t have to worry about missing something important. That saves me time and stress, and makes getting paid easy and reliable. I like that it takes care of the administrative side so I can focus more on my work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Gusto?

Gusto has been an incredible platform for managing payroll, benefits, and HR all in one place. It's intuitive, reliable, and has streamlined so many of the administrative tasks that used to be time-consuming and stressful. The interface is clean and user-friendly, and the customer support has always been responsive and helpful when needed.

One of my favorite features is how seamlessly everything integrates—whether it’s onboarding new employees or managing taxes, Gusto takes care of the details with clarity and ease. It’s truly made running the backend of my business much smoother.

Overall, Gusto is a fantastic choice for small to medium-sized businesses looking for an all-in-one HR and payroll solution. Highly recommend! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

The only feature I find myself wishing for is the ability to track time directly from the web platform. While mobile options and integrations exist, having native web-based time tracking would make it even more powerful and convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

Gusto has helped simplify and streamline a lot of the back-end tasks that used to take up unnecessary time and energy. It solves the challenge of running payroll accurately and on time, automatically handles tax filings, and makes onboarding new employees so much easier with digital paperwork and direct deposit setup.

It also takes the guesswork out of staying compliant with HR regulations and tax deadlines, which gives me more peace of mind. Having everything in one place—payroll, benefits, employee info—saves me from bouncing between different tools or spreadsheets.

Overall, Gusto frees up my time and helps me feel more confident in how I’m managing my team and business operations. It’s taken a lot of stress off my plate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Gusto?

Using the Gusto platform, I was able to launch my career as an independent contractor. I wasn’t sure how to keep my own books as this was my first time, but I’m able to easily track the hours worked for my client, as well as leave that visibility open so my client can see how I’m doing on my projects time-wise.

This creates automatic transparency, making it easier for both me and my employer to address any time related issues and track my pay. Sometimes, I need to pull pay stubs, and gusto makes it extremely easy to find all of that information in one place - no hoops to jump simply to download a PDF document! I’m able to get all tax related info in one spot. It’s been great and very user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

Not sure if it’s a platform issue, but there may be disconnect between Gusto’s payment times and my employer’s deposit release times. Not sure if that’s something that Gusto can tighten up on their end. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

Helps my team to track the time and money spent contracting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Gusto?

I had an incredible experience with Gusto's customer service when I lost my card and noticed several unauthorized transactions. From the moment I contacted them, their team was responsive, professional, and genuinely concerned about resolving the issue quickly. They immediately froze my account to prevent further fraud, walked me through the dispute process step by step, and issued me a new card without any hassle. What could have been a stressful situation was made surprisingly smooth thanks to their support. It’s rare to find a banking service that makes you feel this taken care of—I’m genuinely impressed and grateful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

In contrast, while NKBC has been reliable in many ways, I've occasionally run into issues when using it with other services or institutions that simply aren’t familiar with the bank. Whether it's setting up direct deposits or linking accounts, I've had to do a bit more legwork to explain or verify the bank’s information. It's not necessarily a reflection on NKBC's quality, but more on the challenge of using a lesser-known financial institution in systems that tend to favor bigger names. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

Gusto is solving the hassle of managing payroll by automating the entire process, from calculating taxes to direct deposits. For me, this has taken a huge administrative burden off my plate, ensured my team gets paid accurately and on time, and given me peace of mind knowing compliance is handled correctly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Gusto?

I’ll be honest: I didn’t expect to like a payroll platform. That’s like saying you enjoy going to the DMV or folding fitted sheets. But Gusto completely surprised me. It just works — payroll, taxes, benefits, all that hair-pulling stuff — handled without me needing to decipher endless menus or legal jargon. The interface is actually pleasant (shocking, I know): clean, intuitive, and even a little fun, complete with a confetti animation that somehow makes paying people feel like a small victory.

Benefits are rolled up in one place so I don’t have to wrangle a dozen logins or act as an unpaid benefits hotline for my team. When I do run into a snag, Gusto’s support is refreshingly human and genuinely helpful — no robotic legalese or endless loops. Best of all, it makes me look good. Employees get smooth onboarding, clear pay stubs, and quick direct deposits, which makes them feel taken care of and makes me look like I’ve got my act together.

If you want to stop dreading payroll day and start feeling like maybe — just maybe — you’ve got this whole “running a business” thing figured out, Gusto is 100% worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

We've encountered no severe issues with using Gusto. The only issue is internal, and getting my guys to remember to clock in and out; but that's not a you problem. That's a Steven problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

Gusto is basically solving all the stuff that usually makes running payroll and managing team benefits feel like wading through wet cement. Before Gusto, doing payroll meant wrestling with confusing tax forms, worrying about whether I accidentally broke some obscure law, and explaining benefits options to employees like I was reading from an ancient scroll.

With Gusto, all of that is centralized and automated in a way that doesn’t fry my brain. Taxes get filed automatically, payments go out on time, and new hires can onboard themselves without me having to hold their hand through every click. It even handles things like contractor payments and state compliance filings, which used to feel like juggling flaming swords.

The real benefit? It gives me back my time (and sanity). I don’t have to double-check a thousand details or live in fear of an IRS letter showing up. I get to focus on actually running and growing my business instead of playing part-time payroll clerk or benefits counselor.

On top of that, my team is happier. They get clear pay stubs, easy access to benefits info, and fast direct deposits — which makes me look good and keeps everyone more engaged. So Gusto isn’t just a tool; it’s like an invisible operations teammate that keeps me out of payroll jail and my people happy. That’s a pretty huge win in my book. It's fantastic to know that our platform has simplified payroll, taxes, and benefits management, giving you back valuable time to focus on growing your business. What do you like best about Gusto?

I really like that Gusto lets us add notes to our logged hours. It makes it easy for me to keep track of exactly what I worked on each day, and it also helps my employer understand how my time was spent which makes everything more transparent and efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

One thing I initially struggled with was having to manually type in "AM" or "PM" when clocking in. At first, I was confused because nothing showed up until I realized the format required. It wasn’t a major issue, but it definitely caught my attention as something that could be more intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

As a remote video editor contractor, Gusto has been incredibly helpful in keeping everything organized. I love that I can add notes when logging hours it lets me clearly explain what I worked on, which is super important when I’m not in the same room as the team. It saves back and forth and keeps everything transparent. Getting paid is smooth, and having all my pay info and tax forms in one place gives me peace of mind so I can just focus on the creative work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Camden Q of Gusto

Thanks for sharing your feedback, Prakhar! We're glad to hear that you find Gusto's interface minimalistic and easy to use for managing your payroll and clocking in. The ability to add notes to your logged hours is a feature we're proud of, and we're happy to hear that it's helping you keep track of your work and improve transparency with your employer. We appreciate your feedback about the manual entry for 'AM' and 'PM' and will take it into consideration for future improvements. What do you like best about Gusto?

Gusto is easy and intuitive to use for both Employee and Employer and provides a mobile friendly employee portal for employees to review all their important tax, payroll and employment data. Setting up single or multi-state is incredibly easy to do, and gusto is a much lower cost alternative than many, many other Payroll/HCM providers out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

If you do have a complex payroll, or an issue, it can take some time to correct. Their support is well tended and great, at least at the employer level but also has some slowdown for employees. There have been some weird schedules with how we use it to process payroll, and occasionally payroll would be late through no intended fault of our own. This would result in some on-off situations that put us in an uncomfortable position and ultimately seemed to be tied to holiday payroll scheduling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

Gusto provides us exactly what we need, which is a lowcost and simple payroll across multiple states and employees. It makes life very simple for both employees and employers, and allows for a streamlined way to add documentation, benefits and payroll in one location. It also provided a mobile solution, which was very helpful for our employees and low cost for us. Direct Deposit is also included for all employees to enroll in, across multiple accounts. What do you like best about Gusto?

As a new employee, I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to clocking in and out at my new job, but Gusto made the process incredibly smooth from day one. The company has been using Gusto for a while, and I can definitely see why—they clearly picked a great system.

The clock-in feature is super easy to use. On my very first day, I was able to log in, set everything up, and clock in without needing much help at all. Whether I’m on my phone or desktop, it takes just a couple of taps to clock in or out. It also tracks breaks and lunches in a way that’s straightforward and transparent.

What I really appreciate is how clear everything is. I can see my hours, past shifts, and any adjustments right in the system. It gives me peace of mind knowing my time is being recorded accurately.

Overall, my first impression of Gusto is very positive. It’s user-friendly, efficient, and makes clocking in feel like the easiest part of the workday. For a new hire, that kind of reliability is a big plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

The only down side i have came across if the GPS tracking is sometimes off Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

One problem Gusto is clearly solving is the confusion and inconsistency that often comes with tracking work hours manually or through outdated systems. At previous jobs, I’ve dealt with handwritten time sheets or clunky software where I was never really sure if my hours were being counted correctly or if I’d get paid on time. That uncertainty was stressful, especially as a new hire trying to get settled.

With Gusto, everything feels much more transparent and reliable. I can see exactly when I clocked in and out, track my hours for the week, and even view upcoming pay periods—all in one place. It gives me confidence that I’m getting credit for the time I’ve worked, and that my paycheck will reflect that accurately.

As someone just starting out at a new company, having a tool like Gusto in place removes a lot of the guesswork. It lets me focus on learning the job and doing good work, without having to constantly worry about tracking hours or whether I missed something. It’s one less thing to stress about—and that’s been a huge benefit in my onboarding experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Gusto?

I really like Gusto's accessibility.

Not only is the desktop version user-friendly (trust me, I am NOT a tech guru and I can easily find my way around it!), but they also have an app so you can edit your hours, request PTO, etc. right from your phone. The app is well designed and has run smoothly for the 11 months I've been using it.

I work for a church full-time and tracking my hours is super easy with Gusto. You can either use the timeclock feature so you can clock in or clock out, or you can manually edit your hours. My organization prefers the manual editing, which, again, is super easy to do from my phone. We also occasionally do purchase reimbursements, say, for communion bread. I used to have to fill one out on paper and turn it into my accountant's office physically. But with Gusto, I can do it digitally by taking a picture of the receipt. It is a thousand times easier this way.

We've also been using Gusto to set goals for our team and do performance evaluations. I like having it all in one place and being able to go back and look at previous goals to see how far I've come in my job.

The design and layout of Gusto is clear and attractive. If you're looking for a platform like this, I'd definitely recommend Gusto for any company: whether a small business, mega church, or other organization. So far, as an employee, it's my favorite payroll/HR software... and I've had about 20 jobs, so I feel like I'm basically an expert employee at this point! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

This may sound insincere, but I wouldn't be taking the time to write this review if I didn't really love Gusto and want other people to experience it to. The only thing I dislike about Gusto is that my organization didn't start using it sooner. Our old system was way more complicated and cumbersome than Gusto. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

Gusto has made time tracking, PTO requesting, paystub reviewing, goal setting, employee evaluating, and getting paid a walk in the park! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Gusto?

I love the layout, design, and graphics. I think it's very helpful to see all of my benefits in one page. Navigating to different websites can be cumbersome. I also appreciate the notices of upcoming paychecks. I use the tool often to access my dental plan. It's very easy and accessible! I love how integrated it is with the other accounts. I learned how to use the expense tool quickly, and my organization implemented it well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Gusto?

I don't like the feature showing how many more days I need to wait until my next paycheck. It feels like it's stoking anxiety and having me think too much about getting paid. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Gusto solving and how is that benefiting you?

Gusto has allowed me to transfer all of my benefits with me to my next job. I also have a very clear communication pattern with my HR regarding when the expenses are filed and when she has received them and processed them. I also like that Gusto keeps track of my leave. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
