What I like best about Gusto is how easy it was to get started as an independent contractor. The onboarding process was smooth and simple, with clear steps that didn’t take much time or hassle. It made managing my payments stress-free, which is exactly what I needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I honestly don’t have any dislikes about Gusto from my side as a contractor. Everything has been straightforward and easy to use. The only thing I’m curious about is how the platform works on the management side, since I don’t have access to that part of the system through Honeypot Social. It would be interesting to see how payroll and other processes are handled from their perspective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Gusto has been an incredible platform for managing payroll, benefits, and HR all in one place. It's intuitive, reliable, and has streamlined so many of the administrative tasks that used to be time-consuming and stressful. The interface is clean and user-friendly, and the customer support has always been responsive and helpful when needed.
One of my favorite features is how seamlessly everything integrates—whether it’s onboarding new employees or managing taxes, Gusto takes care of the details with clarity and ease. It’s truly made running the backend of my business much smoother.
Overall, Gusto is a fantastic choice for small to medium-sized businesses looking for an all-in-one HR and payroll solution. Highly recommend! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only feature I find myself wishing for is the ability to track time directly from the web platform. While mobile options and integrations exist, having native web-based time tracking would make it even more powerful and convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Using the Gusto platform, I was able to launch my career as an independent contractor. I wasn’t sure how to keep my own books as this was my first time, but I’m able to easily track the hours worked for my client, as well as leave that visibility open so my client can see how I’m doing on my projects time-wise.
This creates automatic transparency, making it easier for both me and my employer to address any time related issues and track my pay. Sometimes, I need to pull pay stubs, and gusto makes it extremely easy to find all of that information in one place - no hoops to jump simply to download a PDF document! I’m able to get all tax related info in one spot. It’s been great and very user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not sure if it’s a platform issue, but there may be disconnect between Gusto’s payment times and my employer’s deposit release times. Not sure if that’s something that Gusto can tighten up on their end. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I had an incredible experience with Gusto's customer service when I lost my card and noticed several unauthorized transactions. From the moment I contacted them, their team was responsive, professional, and genuinely concerned about resolving the issue quickly. They immediately froze my account to prevent further fraud, walked me through the dispute process step by step, and issued me a new card without any hassle. What could have been a stressful situation was made surprisingly smooth thanks to their support. It’s rare to find a banking service that makes you feel this taken care of—I’m genuinely impressed and grateful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In contrast, while NKBC has been reliable in many ways, I've occasionally run into issues when using it with other services or institutions that simply aren’t familiar with the bank. Whether it's setting up direct deposits or linking accounts, I've had to do a bit more legwork to explain or verify the bank’s information. It's not necessarily a reflection on NKBC's quality, but more on the challenge of using a lesser-known financial institution in systems that tend to favor bigger names. I’ll be honest: I didn’t expect to like a payroll platform. That’s like saying you enjoy going to the DMV or folding fitted sheets. But Gusto completely surprised me. It just works — payroll, taxes, benefits, all that hair-pulling stuff — handled without me needing to decipher endless menus or legal jargon. The interface is actually pleasant (shocking, I know): clean, intuitive, and even a little fun, complete with a confetti animation that somehow makes paying people feel like a small victory.
Benefits are rolled up in one place so I don’t have to wrangle a dozen logins or act as an unpaid benefits hotline for my team. When I do run into a snag, Gusto’s support is refreshingly human and genuinely helpful — no robotic legalese or endless loops. Best of all, it makes me look good. Employees get smooth onboarding, clear pay stubs, and quick direct deposits, which makes them feel taken care of and makes me look like I’ve got my act together.
If you want to stop dreading payroll day and start feeling like maybe — just maybe — you’ve got this whole “running a business” thing figured out, Gusto is 100% worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We've encountered no severe issues with using Gusto. The only issue is internal, and getting my guys to remember to clock in and out; but that's not a you problem. That's a Steven problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I really like that Gusto lets us add notes to our logged hours. It makes it easy for me to keep track of exactly what I worked on each day, and it also helps my employer understand how my time was spent which makes everything more transparent and efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One thing I initially struggled with was having to manually type in "AM" or "PM" when clocking in. At first, I was confused because nothing showed up until I realized the format required. It wasn’t a major issue, but it definitely caught my attention as something that could be more intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Gusto is easy and intuitive to use for both Employee and Employer and provides a mobile friendly employee portal for employees to review all their important tax, payroll and employment data. Setting up single or multi-state is incredibly easy to do, and gusto is a much lower cost alternative than many, many other Payroll/HCM providers out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If you do have a complex payroll, or an issue, it can take some time to correct. Their support is well tended and great, at least at the employer level but also has some slowdown for employees. There have been some weird schedules with how we use it to process payroll, and occasionally payroll would be late through no intended fault of our own. This would result in some on-off situations that put us in an uncomfortable position and ultimately seemed to be tied to holiday payroll scheduling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As a new employee, I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to clocking in and out at my new job, but Gusto made the process incredibly smooth from day one. The company has been using Gusto for a while, and I can definitely see why—they clearly picked a great system.
The clock-in feature is super easy to use. On my very first day, I was able to log in, set everything up, and clock in without needing much help at all. Whether I’m on my phone or desktop, it takes just a couple of taps to clock in or out. It also tracks breaks and lunches in a way that’s straightforward and transparent.
What I really appreciate is how clear everything is. I can see my hours, past shifts, and any adjustments right in the system. It gives me peace of mind knowing my time is being recorded accurately.
Overall, my first impression of Gusto is very positive. It’s user-friendly, efficient, and makes clocking in feel like the easiest part of the workday. For a new hire, that kind of reliability is a big plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only down side i have came across if the GPS tracking is sometimes off Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I really like Gusto's accessibility.
Not only is the desktop version user-friendly (trust me, I am NOT a tech guru and I can easily find my way around it!), but they also have an app so you can edit your hours, request PTO, etc. right from your phone. The app is well designed and has run smoothly for the 11 months I've been using it.
I work for a church full-time and tracking my hours is super easy with Gusto. You can either use the timeclock feature so you can clock in or clock out, or you can manually edit your hours. My organization prefers the manual editing, which, again, is super easy to do from my phone. We also occasionally do purchase reimbursements, say, for communion bread. I used to have to fill one out on paper and turn it into my accountant's office physically. But with Gusto, I can do it digitally by taking a picture of the receipt. It is a thousand times easier this way.
We've also been using Gusto to set goals for our team and do performance evaluations. I like having it all in one place and being able to go back and look at previous goals to see how far I've come in my job.
The design and layout of Gusto is clear and attractive. If you're looking for a platform like this, I'd definitely recommend Gusto for any company: whether a small business, mega church, or other organization. So far, as an employee, it's my favorite payroll/HR software... and I've had about 20 jobs, so I feel like I'm basically an expert employee at this point! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This may sound insincere, but I wouldn't be taking the time to write this review if I didn't really love Gusto and want other people to experience it to. The only thing I dislike about Gusto is that my organization didn't start using it sooner. Our old system was way more complicated and cumbersome than Gusto. I love the layout, design, and graphics. I think it's very helpful to see all of my benefits in one page. Navigating to different websites can be cumbersome. I also appreciate the notices of upcoming paychecks. I use the tool often to access my dental plan. It's very easy and accessible! I love how integrated it is with the other accounts. I learned how to use the expense tool quickly, and my organization implemented it well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't like the feature showing how many more days I need to wait until my next paycheck. It feels like it's stoking anxiety and having me think too much about getting paid. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
