"Flexible and reliable"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

What I love about the platform is that it does not reinvent the wheel - as a developer, you are free to leverage any of the newest and coolest frameworks and packages without much hassle. Yet, you have a support of a reliable system underneath. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

Some out-of-the-box features for Intranets are missing. The development of social features is already in progress, but IMO this is something to focus more on in order to keep the leadership as the best .NET CMS platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful, Flexible, Modern CMS"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

Built on ASP.NET MVC Architecture, supports modern standards, and is extremely flexible for developing a custom website solution. Editor interface is easy to use and intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

Not an "out-of-the-box" solution for web CMS, though you could purchase such a solution from a developer partner and be quite pleased. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The only great .NET CMS"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

It stays out of your way where you need it to, as templates are mainly the developing partner's responsibility, and leans heavily on ASP.NET and .NET best practices so it's very easy to be productive right from the start.

We always get good feedback from the end client's editors on the editing experience. This is something the developing partner has a lot of power in setting up though so all Episerver projects might not live up to this.

New versions are released often (every two weeks) and include both new features and bug fixes.

Can be hosted as an Azure Web Site and scale over multiple instances which is great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

License has a price tag.

Cloud license options when you want to host on your own Azure subscription are inflexible.

Core product is great but certain add-ons and 3rd party modules are quite often troublesome, degrade performance and block product upgrades.

Client side performance inside Edit Mode could be optimized further. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"EPiServer CMS Review"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

The ability to launch, manage and organize content for multiple global websites. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

This CMS absolutely requires an in-house .NET resource. Deploying aesthetic changes and creating new pages types is impossible without an employee that fully understands the .NET framework. Our company hired an agency to build our website using EPiServer. Now, whenever we want to deploy any "no-brainer" changes to the site layout oor create a new block/page template, we have to hire the agency to execute these changes...cah-ching! This issue has handcuffed our digital marketing efforts.

If your company does not have an internal .NET expert, do not purchase EPiServer.

Also, the EPiServer add-on store has a very small amount of content. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
