It's very customizable, powerful and user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

It's unfortunately not the fastest CMS...

For you to make a change/publish/and view your changes it can take a long time, especially if you have a big site... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"EPiServer range of products"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

As the first EPiServer partner in the UK some 10 years ago now, we have been providing EPiServer based solutions across our client base and have found the range of products and add-on's superb.

We have implemented the CMS, Ecommerce and Relate+ packages many times and have integrated these with other products on many occassions. The product range and API has been straight forward to work with and we have never been in the position where we could not do what we wanted to do with the EPiServer range of products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

The documentation is not as good as we would like it to be and although we do manage to get questions answered from EPiServer, they are not always the most speedy and most forthcoming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A middle-tier CMS moving towards being a multi channel platform"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

It's an enterprise level CMS system, that is simple to use. Quite feature rich and customisable, with all you need latest tools and tactics like mobile device templates, personalisation etc (in the latest version) - they have bought various tools and integrated them (this is a little bit of a prob if you bought the product before (composer module as a reference here) it was integrated and then try to upgrade..) that make the latest version a formidable multi channel product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

A bit buggy however EpiServer have declared they will be doing a bit more agile development rollouts instead of mass deployments so hopefully user experience will improve. Can be slow to load and publish. Has modules to purchase or for free but all require development (at cost). Where there are other WCMS out there that have incorporated features into their main offering. It's also an investment (£££) for the long haul. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"EPiServer CMS 7.5"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

The development experience is excellent and well supported by both EPiServer Page Model and the integration with Visual Studio, additional with EPiServer 7.5 you have MVC with brings additional flexibility and an testability. Also new features like the improved editor experience, the new Content Blocks and media asset management feature EPiServer CMS is powerful and rich. Internalisation and personalisation is another strong suit for EPiServer as well as EPiServer Find with is a truly advance search solution. Other nice features are the EPiServer add on store where you can find pluging for Google Analytics, Silverpop for marketing automation as well as translation and collaboration tools. Finally you also have access to a range of other EPiServer products that integrate well From Relate to Commerce.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

Workflows are notorious and adequate but full implemented, covering only pages and missing all other content type especially blocks. Additionally the editor experience is still requires improvement and the continuous feature releases makes certain deployment situations, I've encountered, hard to manage. Finally continuous deployment, impractically full tear-down and rebuild, isn't full functional. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Platform, Easy to use, Integrates well"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

EPiServer is incredibly feature rich and intuitive. The ability to customize templates and leverage personalization allows companies to provide a personal experience for each type of visitor. While it appears that several other CMS also offer the same features, its price point is slightly lower than some of the more well known system. The platform is built on an open API which makes it easy to integrate with existing systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

There is not much traction here is the U.S so when comparing it to some of the other well known systems, its touch to differentiate it's capabilities vs the competition. The Ecommerce platform isn't truly integrated with the CMS although they claim it is. The pricing for ecommerce doesn't work for those ONLY needing an ecommerce site because you also have to pay for the CMS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The latest in MVC functionality, all the support of a Microsoft-backed solution"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

Multiple channel publishing capabilities right from the start, built into the whole system, very easy to preview on different devices and to customise as required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

Some features seemingly not finished before deploying (eg blocks not fully supported in workflows) - leading to lack of perceived ability amongst editor population. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A flexible enterprise friendly platform for an enterprise digital presence."
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

EPiServer allows flexible customization without going through a bunch of hoops outside its platform ecosystem. Your developers will love the platform which makes building specific features to your business (while still leveraging many of its out-of-the-box functionality) very easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

On EPIserver 5, when deploying EPIserver to 2 separate environment (content authoring and content publishing), there were no robust story to handle content deployment. There was a content synchronization mechanism which at that point in time were buggy. The only work around was to semi-manually export the content which took a very long time. The solution for us was to roll out something custom to handle this capability.

The other issue that we had was the fact that the local "first party" representation in some geography is minimal. Agencies tend to be the first point of contact (which is good in some cases), but when first party account support is required, at that point in time the individual has to be flown in from Europe. "A powerful platform for content-driven eCommerce solutions"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

EPiServer's seamless integration of the product catalogue with CMS, coupled with it's Visitor Group functionality allows for a huge amount of customisability and context-driven content with a very simple drag & drop interface.

The Add-On store allows for 3rd party developments and tools with a well-maintained curation to prevent loads of the same add-on, or add-ons which aren't supported correctly by their developers.

It is possible to get an EPiServer site launched in a relatively small timescale. CMS-only projects can be completed in a matter of days, and simple commerce sites can be created in short order by a team who understands the framework and it's nuances.

The platform is mobile-first, meaning sites are responsive and may be created to offer mobile, tablet and kiosk versions with minimal overhead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

EPiServer as a platform and a company are not yet well-renowned, but the pricing structure can often put projects in with the Gartner Magic Quadrant solutions. The can make justification for capital spend difficult - especially with businesses who hole Forrester and Gartner's opinion in high regard (though the platform will often justify the costs, in my opinion).

EPiServer's philosophy of content-first commerce can often run counter to the current ways of working for a retailer. every EPiServer project comes with an element of business transformation to ensure the best results are acheived through the tool - though these transformations are highly rewarding in the long-term. "Webmaster/Marketo Admin"
What do you like best about Optimizely Content Management System?

Page version control is very easy to manage. The version we are running (6.1) also has a great 301 redirect handler which is a valuable tool when dealing with a website in 7 languages with content coming and going all the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Content Management System?

In order to add a new feature such as a blog, you need to be able to develop in .NET, knows C# and can work with tools like Visual Studio or MY SQL Studio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
