"Very Satisfied Business Customer of 5 years"
What do you like best about Files.com?

We received thousands of files each day from many tranding partners, and it just works. Customer support is very responsive. Easy setup and exactly the features we need. Very quick and easy to create shared files/folders. Giving our customers the ability to use html through the files.com site or using there ftp client is a huge plus. The file restore feach has come in handy a few times for us a well. Ability to set permissions, data retention periods, and limit file types uploaded are very easy to setup. They meet our high security requirements. We have been with files.com for 5 years and while early on there were several outages, over the past couple of years the service has been solid with no major outages that we can recall. Very happy with the service and support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Files.com?

Pricing has increased substantially over the past couple of years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kevin Bombino of Files.com

Hey Eric,

Thanks for the great review. We especially love hearing positive comments about our Customer Support team. We work really hard to get that right, and I'm glad to see it gets noticed.

I'm confused by your comment about history export. We do offer a history export capability, and it supports a robust set of filtering options as well. You can filter exports by date range, interface, user ID, path, IP address, and more. Additionally, we offer a History permission you can assign to non-admin users to allow them to export history.

Feel free to reach out to our support team at support@files.com to arrange a meeting with our Product team to discuss your requirements for exporting. We'd love to support your needs here.

Best,

Kevin

"Excellent User Interface - Excellent Tech Support"
What do you like best about Files.com?

It is easy to add and manage user accounts and delegate permissions for each one. Tech support is responsive and helpful. File management is also easy. The sync app is very helpful since it is drag-n-drop without having to use the web interface. However, the web interface is good and easy to use, too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Files.com?

Getting folder history reports takes a long time. I would like to set up a macro to get the specific type of reports that I need and let it cook while I work on other things. But instead, I need to manually ask for each part of the history of each folder and assemble the end report myself. If there is a way to do that, I would love to know. "Has really helped us gain control over our cloud storage"
What do you like best about Files.com?

The ability to integrate and interact with multiple cloud storage platforms has helped us consolidate our processes and eliminate several integrations using a single API. The SFTP capabilities are convenient and have proved useful and simple to implement and manage. Automations have also proven a reliable way to assist with processing inbound files and have helped us reduce the need for human interactions cutting down on time spend and errors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Files.com?

We have integrated Files.com with our proprietary applications and are using it for integrated file storage. We are not using it for our day-to-day file storage and collaboration however would welcome this as it would allow us to consolidate even further. With more end-user functionality (i.e., versioning, collaboration, sharing, etc.), we would gladly expand the use to our team for more day-to-day use. I would like a more refined experience related to Automations (i.e., the ability to edit once they are in place) and a more granular set of actions in terms of dealing with one file at a time, for example, the ability to perform actions on a single file vs. a less specific group of files, e.g., the most recent files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kevin Bombino of Files.com

Hi Rick,

Thanks for sharing this helpful review. I've shared your suggestions with our product team. You'll be happy to know that some of your requested changes to Automations should be launching in the coming quarter.

In general, all of your comments align with our roadmap. We are planning on continuing to expand the Automations capability as well as invest in more business user collaboration capabilities. Our vision is one platform that combines Automation and Collaboration.

"Way to costly for small to medium size businesses..."
What do you like best about Files.com?

The only advantage to Files.com was the ability to add notes to the user/customer profile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Files.com?

Pricing and the difficulty for our non-technical clients to access the FTP folders. In discussions with salespeople was told that the pricing had changed from $49 per month to $300 per month for two reasons. One, they were not interested in hosting small users anymore. Two, they had achieved HIPA certification, which gave them access to medical clients that would pay a higher price, and they did not want to set up a medical/nonmedical pricing system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kevin Bombino of Files.com

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your feedback.

We do require that our customers who are in the healthcare industry and are transferring or storing Protected Health Information (PHI) that is regulated by HIPAA to follow a set of best practices for security and compliance. This includes executing a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) as required by the HIPAA statutes, as well as enabling advanced security features.

Without knowing which company you represent, I'm guessing that Files.com discovered during an audit that you were storing PHI without following the proper procedures. We're more than happy to host small customers, but we do want to ensure that everything is by the book.

"Files.com makes it easy for us to implement SFTP for different partners and internal needs"
What do you like best about Files.com?

We have had used Files.com for quite some time now. It is easy to stand up and keep track of users. One of our favorite uses is to be able to make a sharable link to allow others limited access to files that we would like to share. Along with automatically disabling accounts that are not being used/ logged into over a configurable threshold. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Files.com?

The worst part about Files.com is the fact that our pricing is getting higher each year. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kevin Bombino of Files.com

Hi Jeremiah!

Thanks for the helpful review! We have recently added 2 and 3 year contracting options to ensure that your pricing remains consistent. Please reach out to your Account Manager to learn more!

"Great managed file transfer service. Very pricey."
What do you like best about Files.com?

The user interface and feature set of files.com is great. We are able to use it for automated file transfers as well as allowing non-technical users to view and upload files via the web interface. Unlimited storage is also a big plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Files.com?

The per-user pricing model is very steep. It seems counterintuitive that we are charged a hefty monthly fee for each user (which costs nothing for files.com) while paying a flat rate for unlimited storage (which does cost $$ for files.com). It is getting to the point where the per-user cost is too steep for us to justify. There is also a bizarre quirk of the annual billing model wherein if we add one additional user over our pre-paid quota (e.g. we go from 150 to 151 users on a 150 user plan), we are charged a pro-rated amount for the full year of that user. All well and good but if we de-activate that user and add another (e.g. we go from 150 -> 151 -> 150 -> 151 users), we are again charged the pro-rated rate for the full year. So if we're close to our quota and frequently moving between being under and over our allotted users, we wind up being double charged. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kevin Bombino of Files.com

Thanks for the comments.

As a company that is still young compared to the competition (the products we compare with on G2 were started in 1991, 1994, and 1977) we are admittedly still trying to find the best pricing model that makes sense for us and our customers. We think each iteration gets us closer to that goal but there are always some rough edges. The good news is that now that you are at 150 users, additional users are much cheaper.

Regarding the billing quirk you mentioned, we are more than happy to refund you the additional charges caused by that. Just reach out to billing@files.com.

We are also working on lots of additional tools to help you forecast resource needs to hopefully catch things in advance next time.

Thanks again for your business and we look forward to continuing to serve you.

"A one-stop shop for file hosting and transfers"
What do you like best about Files.com?

- Great REST API for automating everything, and it's well documented.

- Very flexible and thorough solution, including all possible SFTP use-cases covered.

- Highly-secure (encryption in transit+at rest/SOC2/HIPAA/GDPR/etc), makes it easier to us to generate confidence with our partners and customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Files.com?

- Prices are rather on the high side, and scale up a bit too steeply with number of user accounts needed.

- We don't have very high needs of storage space, rather for a sensible number of user accounts, but because pricing is solely based on number of user accounts, our low storage needs do not make for a lower price. We would appreciate a pricing model that takes both number of user accounts and storage space into consideration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kevin Bombino of Files.com

Hi Mathieu!

Thanks for the feedback. We have recently released new pricing that better scales at high user counts. We have several customers with 1k - 10k users, and we believe we are able to offer good value at that scale.

Please feel free to reach out to us for a review of your options.

"Files.com is an easy to use, cost effective SFTP solution."
What do you like best about Files.com?

Easy to use interface. Quick to setup, easy to control permissions, and easy to customize the interface (branding.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Files.com?

I don't know if there is anything I dislike, per se. I think the functionality I need is there. It might not be as infinitely customizable as some would like, but it works for me and our organization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Feature filled hands-off SFTP product"
What do you like best about Files.com?

Largely hands-off, easy-to-use interface, feature-filled, great security stance and certifications, SFTP is very reliable, APIs allowed us to improve our file processing efficiency Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Files.com?

Some of the management tools are a little cluttered, The file management UI can sometimes be hard to navigate, some advanced support topics like getting security questionnaires answered can take a long time to resolve Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kevin Bombino of Files.com

Hey John,

Thanks for the feedback. We agree that there are opportunities to improve the management UI and we have several projects in flight related to that goal.

Thanks again for being a Files.com customer and we look forward to serving you for many years to come.

"Swiss Army knife of file transfer"
What do you like best about Files.com?

Easy to use web interface to allow our customer service team to manage users and files, whilst also providing a powerful API to facilitate automated management of users and files.

Multiple options are available for file transfer, including SFTP, FTPS, SCP, Web and API.

Ability to use your own domain and SSL/TLS certificate to give your clients comfort that they are not being phished.

User management is excellent, with users able to manage their own account, particularly self password management.

Plenty of 3rd party platform integrations available if we need it (S3, MS Onedrive, Dropbox etc) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Files.com?

The slight learning curve for new administrators, due to the multiple options for file management, user management and overall configuration. Once up to speed though, everything you need to configure is available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Kevin Bombino of Files.com

We couldn't have said it better ourselves! Thanks for the review.
