Stack Overflow for Teams Overview

What is Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow for Teams is a knowledge-sharing platform that facilitates the collection, curation, and dissemination of your company’s knowledge. We do this by providing a platform that’s familiar to developers, embedded into developer workflows, and closes the distance between people and the knowledge they need, using gamification to encourage contribution and engagement. The community-based platform connects knowledge seekers and domain experts through an easy-to-use Q&A tool developers already know with additional functionality built in to ensure institutional knowledge is validated, accessible, and up-to-date both now and in the future. OverflowAI, our new GenAI-powered features for Stack Overflow For Teams Enterprise, helps connect technologists to solutions faster by doing the heavy lifting of searching for technical and institutional knowledge by surfacing and sourcing answers in natural ways, in the environments developers work in.

"Sharing knowledge in a remote world!"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I like that Stack Overflow for teams allows us to share knowledge with our remote engineering team. The pandemic has made it harder to "overhear" conversations and gain context, like when we were in an office. Also, the nice thing is things are getting written down and persisted and searchable. Not only that but all engineers know how to use Stack Overflow so it's not like learning a whole new system, it is very approachable. Having the edit history and the fact that their can be multiple answers is great for people to have there own way of explaining things and can help to have different spins on the same answer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I think there is a complex training piece. We are all so used to google for Stack Overflow questions, but our results don't show in google because they are all private. So knowing or remembering to search within SO is what takes remembering for people. Even if I still get asked the same questions, I can easily send a link and improve on a question, so I don't have to figure out how to explain something each time. "Easy and familiar way to share knowledge amongst your team"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Most developers are familiar with stack overflow from the public website so bringing that 'in-house' to share internal knowledge is a no-brainer. I like the question and answer format because it aligns with the mindset of a user looking for information. The ability to have and rank multiple answers allows everyone to contribute while keeping the most helpful response visible. Integrating with Slack and the weekly digests help collect responses from the entire team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I have not come across anything which I dislike. I think after years of use, this is a very well refined product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Centralized place to find common internal questions during software development"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack overflow for teams provides a centralized place for you to search for your daily errors in a higher level because you can now search also for your internal created exceptions and someone might have been through the issue you have right now. It's also a good way to have a break between one task and another to take a quick look at unanswered questions and to take a look on the issues people are asking to help you udnerstand a little more about the projects Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

So far I really liked it. It's just that we're in the adoption phase I guess. So I still see a lot of questions on slack. Not sure if we're passing them through here now Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great choice for internal knowledge-sharing"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Question and answer style documentation is an incredible "first level" resource for commonly asked questions in an engineering department. Developers are already familiar with SO, so this format is a great fit for engineering teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

There is little about the platform that I dislike. It would be nice to have a way to mark documentation as "stale" or "flag as requiring a new or revised answer" Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple and Valuable As Such"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I like how I can easily ask a question on my Teams board, have others be notified when the question is asked, and get responses in a format that I'm comfortable with from years of using SO. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

If you don't use tags/labels properly, you end up with a large amount of knowledge being kept in one place that becomes hard to sift through to find that one piece of info you're after. If you don't use tags/labels properly, you just end up with a large amount of knowledge being kept in one place that becomes hard to sift through to find that one piece of info you're after. If you don't use tags/labels properly, you just end up with a large amount of knowledge being kept in one place that becomes hard to sift through to find that one piece of info you're after. "Excelent product"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

The ability to remove silos of information and work asynchronously to create a knowledge library. It saves a lot of time for new people in the team and to collaborate better on the projects too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I would love to have a more transparent integration with the public stack overflow forums since right now it works like a separate site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
