Stack Overflow for Teams Overview

What is Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow for Teams is a knowledge-sharing platform that facilitates the collection, curation, and dissemination of your company’s knowledge. We do this by providing a platform that’s familiar to developers, embedded into developer workflows, and closes the distance between people and the knowledge they need, using gamification to encourage contribution and engagement. The community-based platform connects knowledge seekers and domain experts through an easy-to-use Q&A tool developers already know with additional functionality built in to ensure institutional knowledge is validated, accessible, and up-to-date both now and in the future. OverflowAI, our new GenAI-powered features for Stack Overflow For Teams Enterprise, helps connect technologists to solutions faster by doing the heavy lifting of searching for technical and institutional knowledge by surfacing and sourcing answers in natural ways, in the environments developers work in.

"Best internet resource for How-To now applied to internal processes!"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

The product is incredibly easy to use as an end user (Teams Integration HUGE) and also as an administrator. The gamification of contribution is a great feature that drives engagement which is crucial to adoption and value. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Not a huge deal, but would have very much liked to have the ability to restrict access to topics/categories by group without going to the full Enterprise license level. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great tool to share knowledge in teams"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

If StackOverflow can successfully handle many questions in the public version, it can help us organize our internal knowledge sharing. In addition, I like how it allows us to search for existing questions/answers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Sometimes I have issues with the formatting of answers... Maybe I do something in the wrong way; I'm not sure. And I really really want to attach gifs, while I can only attach static images. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

"Easy to use and useful tool for sharing knowledge."
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Since I am already familiar with using stack overflow, implementing this tool for internal purposes was very easy to use. We have been using this tool in our team within the last 3 weeks and so far it's been great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Adoption has been a little bit slow, some use the tool more often than others, hopefully, the adoption of the tool will increase when we have more information about different topics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It would not make much sense to open questions on SO about in-house tools."
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I can still have the full SO experience but with in-house tools and proprietary technologies. Without fear of disclosing closed source code or making these tools public. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Lack of encouragement for users to use the platform. But I personally don't know how to solve that, or even it's a StackOverflow problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Perfect way to keep helpful answers in place"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Every developer knows how to use Stack Overflow so, that's a good starting point. The integration between your public profile and enterprise profile works well and keeps things in one place. Other integrations like Jira and Slack are very valuable because it helps to keep helpful answers in one place and avoids knowledge to be in random areas which are hard to search for. I guess that's what I like the most, be able to search "internal" knowledge in one place, and it works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I miss a great mobile app to interact with Stack Overflow. Reviewing or contributing while we are on the run is more accessible on a tablet or phone, but there are no reasonable solutions, unfortunately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful knowledge sharing with a familiar interface"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I like having one central place for all of our company's knowledge. Every question that our delivery teams have ends up in StackOverflow for Teams. The result is a vast searchable database of questions, tags, logs, errors, and stack traces that teams can use to troubleshoot their problems. Having all of this knowledge available is a massive time saver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I don't particularly appreciate it when users paste in screenshots of logs or code, as this hinders searchability. It is also frustrating when answers become out of date or people don't fully document their solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Positive news... Stack Overflow for Teams is officially cool."
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Most impressive function is the ability to have your teams current thinking so close to your finger tips. Tiem saved on trawling the web for team based solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Members can operate with a self-fulfilling mind-set to build up scoring profiles, but not really engage with their own team. Perhaps scoring decay to limit this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
