Stack Overflow for Teams Overview

What is Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow for Teams is a knowledge-sharing platform that facilitates the collection, curation, and dissemination of your company’s knowledge. We do this by providing a platform that’s familiar to developers, embedded into developer workflows, and closes the distance between people and the knowledge they need, using gamification to encourage contribution and engagement. The community-based platform connects knowledge seekers and domain experts through an easy-to-use Q&A tool developers already know with additional functionality built in to ensure institutional knowledge is validated, accessible, and up-to-date both now and in the future. OverflowAI, our new GenAI-powered features for Stack Overflow For Teams Enterprise, helps connect technologists to solutions faster by doing the heavy lifting of searching for technical and institutional knowledge by surfacing and sourcing answers in natural ways, in the environments developers work in.

"SO for Teams is a great way to collaborate"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

The Teams SO has been very handy for us; even though we are only a small team, we like to store the common developer "FAQs" on our Teams account so that when we have to do complex things again which aren't done frequently, or train new people up, there's a nice place to go where it's all in one place and others can then add to it later etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

There's not a lot I dislike really. It does the job well! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Useful"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

We can share useful business specific knowledge internally, and it is a good place to ask questions and get them answered. People are likely to write high quality answers since it benefits everyone in the team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

There's nothing I really dislike about Stack overflow for teams, it has proven to be super useful as a resource for onboarding new hires Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great free tool"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I like the flexibility, everyone can choose to partecipate with restricted visibility or public. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I think there should be a wiki section to improve knowledge, using everything in ask and answer is a limit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast and Clean"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow Team helps to get all the time on track with their questions; it's also easy to build live documentation where new teammates can learn when they join the company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Sometimes it's hard to find old posts and I would like to see more incentives to keep the team posting their questions maybe a rewards plan, integration with Slack will be very good also. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Industry Standard for Knowledge Bases and Q&A"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Team management tools, reports, price, familiarity. The internal nature of this product makes developers less fearful of negative responses to their questions. This is ideal for encouraging junior developers to be proactive and remove barriers in them seeking help. They also provide a Slack integration so that there is good visibility around the questions being asked on here. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Per-user pricing model can be steep and presents budget difficulties for scaling teams Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great tool for organization knowledge base"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

It's great, Since it's about answering exact questions, it's much better than the classic "create documentation page - answer questions in private - forget to update documentation - forget about documentation as it's not useful at all". Finally, a great tool for proper documentation.

Other strong points:

- All developers (and many not developers) are used to StackOverflow already

- Great search and easy tagging

- Simple and convenient editor Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Not actually dislikes, but would be great to:

- It's not always clear (even if the button says that) that question will be private or public... maybe some custom branding with company logo would help

- Would be great to export some questions and answers as pdf Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Teams on Stack Overflow a perfect way to engage with your team around their code"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

All features of stack Overflow are refined on a closed interface where you and your team can engage in the conversation about their code or any other topic. Syntax highlight, pools, and more features that really can add up to a team resources base as also of course you remain in stack overflow and its valuable database. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

So far it being difficult to understand all features and which purpose is aim to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Stack overflow's proven formula can now be used in even more contexts"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I personally use this tool for university, I like how fast questions get answered in the platform, just like in the regular stack overflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I would have liked being able to join Stack Overflow Teams without having to create an Stack Overflow account, only with the university login perhaps. I would also like to receive less emails and notifications Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
