Stack Overflow for Teams Overview

What is Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow for Teams is a knowledge-sharing platform that facilitates the collection, curation, and dissemination of your company’s knowledge. We do this by providing a platform that’s familiar to developers, embedded into developer workflows, and closes the distance between people and the knowledge they need, using gamification to encourage contribution and engagement. The community-based platform connects knowledge seekers and domain experts through an easy-to-use Q&A tool developers already know with additional functionality built in to ensure institutional knowledge is validated, accessible, and up-to-date both now and in the future. OverflowAI, our new GenAI-powered features for Stack Overflow For Teams Enterprise, helps connect technologists to solutions faster by doing the heavy lifting of searching for technical and institutional knowledge by surfacing and sourcing answers in natural ways, in the environments developers work in.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Although Stack Overflow is known for its powerful search functionality, I have challenges with finding specific information within my team's knowledge base. And the secont thing is Stack Overflow for Teams was primarily a cloud-based platform, which means it may not be accessible offline. Depending on my team's needs, this limitation could be a drawback. What problems is Stack Overflow for Teams solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have so many tools internally and don't know who to ask for help... using Stack Overflow helps as some people are dedicated in replying to questions. So we can focus on writing our questions... not on finding who to write to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

A familiar interface with effortless markdown support. Being able to answer your own questions makes reading up on past decisions as easy as browsing regular Stack Overflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Teams keeps nagging that my team is going to expire. As a solo developer I don't use the tool unless I want to keep something for later. This causes me to have to periodicaly log in. The upside is that this keeps the tool on my mind, so I do not forget to write down my knowledge.

The self-answering QA interface can be confusing, as it's hard to tell wether you are editing the post description ot the QA answer text. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Stack Overflow for Teams solving and how is that benefiting you?

I can easily find the reasoning for past important decisions in regards to the code or my company. This is aided by top notch natural language search, so I don't have to remeber the exact name of a post. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

It allows productive collaboration between siloed teams and breaks down some barriers, culturally and bureaucratically, that hold orgs back. Fast and easy documentation and solutions if utilized properly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

It is highly susceptible to "gaming" the system - friends upvote friends to pump ranks and win awards, making an incentive process highly suspect to useless. It also depends heavily on the cultural workings on the implementing org. If management and developers are at odds with each other or other teams, Stack suffers. We had one major outage that wiped a huge chunk of data we use for documentation off Stacks servers for a week and it was heavily debilitating for that week. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Stack Overflow for Teams solving and how is that benefiting you?

It crosses team silo boundaries to allow collaboration that wouldn't occur otherwise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
