Stack Overflow for Teams Overview

What is Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow for Teams is a knowledge-sharing platform that facilitates the collection, curation, and dissemination of your company’s knowledge. We do this by providing a platform that’s familiar to developers, embedded into developer workflows, and closes the distance between people and the knowledge they need, using gamification to encourage contribution and engagement. The community-based platform connects knowledge seekers and domain experts through an easy-to-use Q&A tool developers already know with additional functionality built in to ensure institutional knowledge is validated, accessible, and up-to-date both now and in the future. OverflowAI, our new GenAI-powered features for Stack Overflow For Teams Enterprise, helps connect technologists to solutions faster by doing the heavy lifting of searching for technical and institutional knowledge by surfacing and sourcing answers in natural ways, in the environments developers work in.

"A great knowledge base for you and your associates"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

The aspect I like the best, is being able to ask company/product specific questions that wouldnt make sense to post on the general StackOverflow site. For example, I would post a question like "why cant python access my google appengine sdk" on the general S.O. site. However, a question like "Please explain the flow between microservice A and microservice B" is much better suited for S.O. for Teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I havent found anything I "dislike" about using S.O. for Teams. Our company supports and encourages us to use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Stop Losing Valuable Knowledge"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow for Teams is a reliable place to store business knowledge permanently. Its user interface is familiar to all our employees, making the knowledge accessible and easy to search. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

The most significant barrier is that not everyone in our company immediately recognizes the value of Stack Overflow for Teams as a permanent, accessible knowledge base. Adoption is slow but growing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"an essential tool for medium/large technology companies"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

The tool generates an exciting debate space, gamifying participation and rewarding the interesting contributions of its members. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

At the UI level, it's not too hard to go wrong between StackOverflow for teams and general Stackoverflow.

The tool is a bit expensive since the payment model is not per use but per user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"This is the perfect place for team collaboration in a familiar format."
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

A familiar user interface, the ability to mark the correct answer, upvote and downvote answers are the primary reasons I use this for my team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Separate domain from stackoverflow.com. The same place for public and private teams could have been better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The perfect solution for inter-product communication and knowledge sharing"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I've been a huge fan of StackOverflow for many years. It saves me lots and lots of time and allows me to give back and contribute in areas where I am an expert, or just to improve or clarify existing solutions. Even though I work hard to help others with questions the hive mind that is StackOverflow always gives me far more than I could ever contribute - the power of the many is amazing.

The Teams version is pretty much the same as the public offering but private. I love the fact that I only had to add my corporate email address to my existing long-lived StackOverflow account so that the experience is seamless. As a software developer, I am not a fan of documentation as people never read it, this is where StackOverflow rules - work out loud, work in public, get to a shared agreed common answer and then it lives forever for others to search, use, enhance. Genius. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Not a lot. I think the weak area is the comments - formatting them correctly and hailing others doesn't seem to work as I would like, maybe providing the full editor for comments would help encourage people to format their comments properly, not sure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Awesome tool to help teams as they grow"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

It allows for a very quick and easy system for staff to ask questions to other staff members to get a good answer and then it's saved for everyone to use later so we don't waste time answering the same questions Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

There is no simple tool to review answers to make sure they are still relevant this ends up with people asking staff members again and then getting them to update, a system to send a review notification email to staff members would be better Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
