Rev makes it easy to get captions to make any video more accessible in any way you desire. You can easily get captions burned directly on videos, or get them as a seperate caption file to be an optional track on a site like YouTube Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The "speaker" function doesn't work so you cannot enter the names of speakers so those will be spelled right consistently. For years, I have been transcribing videos on my own and sometimes the captions can take as long as the initial edit. This tool is so easy. The fact that it comes back in a format that not only makes everything accessible for our audiences but also makes it easy to identify each speaker and pull specific quotes - and does all of that within a few hours - has saved me time and headaches. We have been using Rev at our institute for a couple of years, and it's amazing! The website/portal is very easy to maneuver, find past orders, request new orders and get the information you need. I use it a few times a week, and it's so simple. The few times we have needed support to assist us with adding team members or finding something have been great too! When we send different works simultaneously, we notice that other criteria are handled regarding subtitling. For example, in the introduction of our programs, we have happy Hebrew style music, some transcribers place: happy music, other Hebrew music, other Jewish music, other traditional music... there is no single criterion.
Also, what annoyed us the most was that before, they moved the subtitles on the screen according to the lower thirds that the programs use, but now you have to pay an extra fee for that. That really hurt us a lot. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Using Rev is super easy. The drag-and-drop feature for audio files is quick and seamless. The accuracy of transcripts is great, and the ability to add unique words to the dictionary (I work in the medical field, so we have lots of these) makes life much easier when I receive a transcript. I do a lot of telephone interviews for articles I write for web content. I had been using human transcription services via Fiverr, but they were sometimes slow to respond and complete the job. My first try with Rev was a recording of a VOIP phone call that was less than top quality. The transcript was produced within a few minutes and contained very few errors and/or dropouts. One handy feature is that most paragraphs are tagged with the time index of the recording, making it easy to go back and verify any missed words. We love the versatility of downloading a PDF and listening to the audio from the interview itself to hear the delivery or flow of the speaker. The only element of the site I find challenging to navigate is entering speaker names and making sure it's clear which speaker is which for the transcriber. That very well may be a user error.
