Once you get the hang of it, the platform is pretty easy to use and it allows for a big range of testing to be done. We use this all the time to help us dynamically change paid search landing pages easily - which has made testing such a dream! MUCH easier than trying out Google Experiments within the platform. It does take a minute to get accustomed to the platform, and there is definitely a learning curve getting things setup and tracked correctly - especially when you have more "complex" things to measure and need to put the data in other systems (like Google Analytics). Optimizely Web Experimentation allows for the marketing team is test quick layouts, headlines, and colors whenever needed to continuously improve the user experience and improve conversion rate overall. It's very easy to use once everything is set up by the engineering teams where it can be used self service or low maintaince by tech teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Requires engineering work to get started but that's hardly a dislike since what does not? Offline metrics for success can be a challenge to integrate but once the data flows in its great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The results screen is easy to comprehend. I also like the stats engine that Optimizely uses so that it can declare significance anytime throughout the duration of the test. No test duration calculation needed! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Organization of experiments. I wish that I could group tests into folders. We have a few different teams that work on our site (acquisition/post-purchase) so it would be nice to be able to keep our experiments separate, as well as group my own experiments by the landing page. Very easy to set up. The most significant point of differentiation is that it is not clunky. VWO - you often run into weird issues with the platform not working or it displaying oddly. With Optimizely, this happens far less. From what I know, these are the two biggest competitors in the space. I think targeting and audiences are also much more straightforward. You can also add a cookie so you can QA without setting the experiment live for the public. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You should be able to delete changes from the main variant screen. You should also be able to add comments about changes so you can label them and quickly tell what the change is on the main screen. They also said you could track across projects if you use the same project ID for all. But when we tried to do this, Optimizely let us know that this only works about 60% of the time, which is pretty ridiculous to have sold it as something functional. As someone who works agency-side I'm exposed to various experimentation tools, Optimizely being a common one for enterprise-level organizations. Beyond the intuitive interface I have to say that Optimizely is constantly pushing boundaries by keeping up with client needs, data science, and evolutions with experimentation practices. Introducing products like Performance Edge and Rollouts show they are in touch with the current needs of experimenters. This plus fantastic documentation for various scenarios that are helpful for both advanced developers and high-level strategists. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Have had a bit of trouble with Adobe Analytics x Optimizely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Optimizely allows teams to set up an ecosystem for a continuous experimentation program at your company. The Web Experimentation tool is sophisticated and reliable. The knowledge base, academy and support documentation is thorough and easily accessible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Optimizely Web Experimentation has a steep learning curve and requires some training to get new users up to speed. It would be nice to have a stronger collaboration framework set up to help manage the process of getting a test set up. It would also be helpful to have a built-in system for sharing results of tests across teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love how intuitive the interface is and how easily I, who am not technical, can very quickly set up experiments, edit HTML/CSS, and quickly analyze results. I also love how our web engineers can very quickly set up a test for landing page designs, more easily than our web platform (Wordpress). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would love more options to share the experiment data with others (not just a CSV, but an actual display of the graphs and variations). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease with which I can create and inject components, styles, and scripts is stunning; the WebX platform allows for previously unheard-of flexibility in a development cycle. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Creating metrics and managing data in the results is not intuitive, and sifting through the data is difficult. Passing the data along to other analytics tools (such as GA) does not make the data easier to cross-reference and parse. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that the reporting is very clear and concise. The metrics are also great and easy to set up. I've used this primary for A/B testing different graphics and metrics to gauge customer engagement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The visual seelctor is diffcult to use and inaccurate. it is much better to have some basic coding knoweldge and use the selector to specify exactly what element it is you want to edit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Optimizely's custom targeting capabilities are crucial to running experiments exactly when and where you want them to run. Besides some quick and easy targeting options, you can write your own JavaScript targeting logic which is really helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Integrating Optimizely Web with Google Analytics could take some effort, depending on your setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
