Stack Overflow for Teams Overview

What is Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow for Teams is a knowledge-sharing platform that facilitates the collection, curation, and dissemination of your company’s knowledge. We do this by providing a platform that’s familiar to developers, embedded into developer workflows, and closes the distance between people and the knowledge they need, using gamification to encourage contribution and engagement. The community-based platform connects knowledge seekers and domain experts through an easy-to-use Q&A tool developers already know with additional functionality built in to ensure institutional knowledge is validated, accessible, and up-to-date both now and in the future. OverflowAI, our new GenAI-powered features for Stack Overflow For Teams Enterprise, helps connect technologists to solutions faster by doing the heavy lifting of searching for technical and institutional knowledge by surfacing and sourcing answers in natural ways, in the environments developers work in.

"For Tech oriented teams this is perfect"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I am a frequent user of Stackoverflow and have been for many years - so the whole experience of the Teams product is extremely familiar to me. The search functionality is really great and allows you to find the answers you really need. They also have a Slack app which makes the adoption of the product easier. We're slowly building our library of questions and it would be awesome to have some sort of CSV import Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Struggling to find things I don't like to be honest - it's a really simple application to use and through it behaving in the same way as the Stackoverflow site available to all it's really familiar. It would be great if we could import data into Stackoverflow Teams that we have in a spreadsheet - something like an import format where you can add a question, title, and an answer just to get it started off. "Good knowledge sharing tool for growing teams in a Q&A format"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

The Q&A format makes the platform much more communicative/conversational than traditional wikis. The content is focussed on answering the question posed rather than documenting/dumping information in one place that others may need to dig through to discover what they need.

The tagging system provides a reasonable way to organize content if you put in the time to think about and organize your base tags.

The voting system allows for easy discovery of frequent and repeat questions and high quality answers from contributors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

The text input could provide more formating and control over the content than it does now.

Tags are flat which could be better. Hierarchial tags often make more sense for organizational and systems structures.

Pricing model could be better to account for active vs passive users. For example, not all teams within an org may actively use the tool but may still require access from time to time to look up specific pieces of information. This sort of workflow could be accomodated better in the pricing model. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A great resource for sharing knowledge and best practices for our team"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

How easy it is to write internal Q&A posts. Our team is small enough that we generally do not use it for posting questions to the team, so our primary usage of it is to share internal knowledge so it can be distributed to both existing employees and new employees. It is also very easy to find any post we have submitted, as we have tagged all of our posts and the search system works extremely efficiently in finding what we are looking for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

We recently ran into an issue where we hit a character limitation in an answer and had to migrate the solution away to another system we manage and reference a link to it. Additionally, we tried the Microsoft Teams integration and found that it didn't really add value to our team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Stack Overflow for Teams at university"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

The platform allows to post questions and tag them by their course name, keeping the content organized.

As per the normal StackOverflow, good answers can be upvoted, allowing the reader to find the best answer quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

I have no creative ideas on how to make it better. I believe the plaform perfectly fulfills its job of finding the right questions to one's answer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Stack Overflow for Teams is an amazing tool"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow for Teams is a very good tool, it combines the well-known Stack Overflow interface with an internal Q&A network. Being able to add co-workers to the questions for them to answer. The user limit of the free version of the app is quite large, which allows small businesses to use the app and all its features without the need for upgrades. I currently have no complaints from Stack Overflow for Teams. It serves its purpose very well and makes many resources available for free. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Stack Overflow, but for your team"
What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow for teams (SoT) don't change a bit from the public, and known, Stack Overflow. Having your team dropping and re-using questions, and answers, from SoT, helps like nothing to spread the knowledge, and document it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

Getting the traction inside the company has been the most difficult part, but we are getting there, we could see some results, and dividends, from it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
