Description

Product documentation your users will love. GitBook has everything you need to create beautiful docs for your users — so you don’t have to build your own editing tools, CMS, website and more. You can just focus on writing great content. GitBook’s branch-based Git workflow encourages your whole team to collaborate by creating a branch, requesting a review, and merging when ready. It’s a flow your developers already know and love — and they can even edit your docs in their code editor using Git Sync. That’s all backed up by AI that lets your users find what they need fast, publishing settings that put you in control of who can access your docs, and internal documentation for your own team.

"GitBook is Open-Source Projects Friendly"
What do you like best about GitBook?

I love that the application is very easy to use, most especially for project teams, which allows for easier collaboration and integration of changes. I also love that setting up the workspace won't take up much of your time, this is a UX design I admire about their workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

There's nothing to dislike with GitBook as of the moment, however, there were instances that the application crashed (probably due to my connection), but it's not that much of a big deal since the data is already saved and already recovered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"All you need to document and collaborate"
What do you like best about GitBook?

I use Gitbook for my design & product community for documenting and sharing knowledge. It really is the perfect tool to document. Even if it's tech oriented, you can easily bend the tool as you want. The best features that impacted our decisions on this tool was :

- the UI, which is realy clear and also effortlessly customizable

- the fact that the tool is focused on documentation and does not spend useless effort on doing much than that (instead of aNotion with too many features)

- the open-source design of Gitbook, allowing merge request contributions and a git branch system to help us organize new content properly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

We don't dislike anything particularly but we think Gitbook could be better in :

- allowing users to customize more (the UI, maybe hints with custom emojis, also creating new blocks)

- also a personal note: for some reason, we are unable to do the command+/ shortcut on the new MacbookPro on Firefox. clicking to add blocks is a bit frustrating and I think Gitbook should invest more in shortcuts for each platform/OS.

These are only minor fixes and improvements Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great GitBook Experience"
What do you like best about GitBook?

Love the ability to sync between GitHub and GitBook. In that way, edits can be made from either GitHub or GitBook. This allows for everyone (technical or less so) to be able to contribute to the documentation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

I would like Change Requests to create corresponding PRs in GitHub. That way the changes can be reviewed from GitHub and/or GitBook, and the change request numbers would sync with GitHub PR numbers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"GitBook is the missing tool for documentation."
What do you like best about GitBook?

Great UI and UX, it's super easy to change the content of the documentation, the change requests feature is fantastic, and syncing with GitHub is super useful. We love GitBook! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

I'd appreciate the product even more if there was support for adding the whole REST API documentation in a separate section. I know that now it supports including single endpoints but for large APIs it would be useful to sync with the whole OpenAPI document. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Perfect Solutiuon for Technical Documentation"
What do you like best about GitBook?

The md files are in the same repository as our software solution. This makes it less likely that we forget to update the doc - it is part of the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitBook?

Nothing. Maybe the editor could be made a bit more intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
