Some of the fields are inflexible.
I would really like to be able to set a standard rate of pay for each customer. That is also not possible. I have to remember to modify the standard rate each time I invoice so if I forget, I lose money. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I started using Freshbooks eight years ago to manage the finances of my executive coaching business. It's simple and easy to use. I have a lot of recurring business. Freshbooks allows me to set up recurring billing with ease. As a non-financial person, they make it very eas and intuitive to run my business.

Their leadership is terrible and they will introduce changes on the system without anyone agreeing to them or providing alternatives. We have been customers for years but they just decided to switch their payment gateway Stripe and know every single customer has to create a new Stripe account — doubling all work on compliance, FINCEN, rates and more. Their support doesn't care and just said "accept or quit". They will not care for how long you have been a customer, they are egocentrical and think they are above humankind. If I make a change in notes on a specific invoice as a one off, it saves it automatically and will be the same on future ones. This results in me needing to rework the invoice notes. The mileage app is spotty in functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I use to use Quickbooks Online. However, I found it was too much for me, as I do not have an accounting background, and own a small business. After checking out other competitors, and some open-source software, I decided on Freshbooks. I could not be happier for my choice. The software is very easy to use, and there support is TOP NOTCH. There is no install, so it's just a matter of using your web browser, and it was very easy to integrate it with my bank accounts. I use it on a daily basis, and I cannot recommend this software enough, and it's perfect for my small business needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have no accounting experience yet find FreshBooks easy to navigate. I’m a longtime user of the customizable invoicing system. FreshBooks offers excellent customer support – my most recent experience was easy and efficient. With FreshBooks, tracking expenses is simple and straightforward. You can upload receipts, categorize expenses, and mark them as billable to clients. Expenses, outgoing money is fine. Incoming money, deposits, refunds seem to need more steps using invoice workarounds.
