349 Coderbyte for Employers Reviews
Having conducted multiple interviews using Coderbyte for Employers, I can confidently say that it is a valuable tool in the hiring process.
I like that it provides a great candidate experience while maintaining robust cheating detection measures.
Whenever I ask candidates about any issues they had with the platform while doing their online assessment before attempting the live coding session, they have never mentioned any issues (except that the online session's IDE isn't as coder-friendly, which is good!) Sometimes, the email for resetting the password to the account is never received, making it a bit tedious to create another user.
Temporary credentials could be something to look into or prompt customer service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have mostly used the technical tests. It allows to create and store the tests depending on the role we weant to fill. The tests can then be reused when needed. It detects code cheating and also records the candidates' actions, this is very helpful to see if the candidates are honest when they take the tests Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So far I haven't come up with anything that I dislike with Coderbyte, it has all the functionality to make it easy to use and fullfill the needs we have had so far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We were able to create custom question sets and interviews tailored to the levels and roles we were hiring for. Their editor also was great viewing how people did and figuring out how they approached problem sets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The format was pretty strict in regards to how multiple choice questions can be formatted. It would be great if there could be more flexibility in what is presented as a question Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I researched more than 20 companies that offer assessment testing. Almost all of them wanted me to signup for a yearly, expensive subscription. This may be a good option for large corporations, but what about business than 1-2 employees? Coderbyte didn't require a long term contract and made it so I could afford to hire two new web developers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What is there not to like? I have a bug or two while using the service, and the owner got back to me right away. He was so grateful to get my feedback. You would never get that kind of response when communicating with a big corporate giant company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Having a code testing tool is 100% necessary in the tech industry. There are many options in the marketplace at the moment and most of them come with a high price tag. However, Coderbyte does very nicely to compete with others, but at a much smaller cost. The product is good for its ease of use; candidates have a nice coding window, and it tries to prevent cheating where possible. One of the best features is reviewing the output of the candidate in the video, to see how they worked out the problem and how they refactored. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface that is used for front-end development could be better and allow the interface to show changes in real-time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

They were prompt in replying to my queries. I didn't have even a single unpleasant experience here. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I didn't dislike anything except that Coderbyte system had some login issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There is a decent set of questions to choose from to help you get started. Specifically, the coding challenges provided a good variety of difficulties and focus. We found several that were appropriate for the role we were looking for.
Being able to play back candidates coding challenges was incredibly helpful in helping us more accurately review candidate work - rule out cheating, recognize natural iterative progression as candidates moved through the questions, etc.
Having multiple-choice questions and coding challenges represented in the same quiz was an excellent option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The multiple-choice question sets were a little lackluster, and modifying and creating our own questions was cumbersome. Especially moving questions between sets when we wanted to duplicate individual questions (not just duplicate the whole set of questions). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The tool is very easy to use. You can setup coding challenges that provide different levels of complexity as well as choose the languages that make sense for your organization. The screen recording is also a nice feature to be able to see the candidate work through the problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It would be nice to be able to select a set of questions and have it send out random ones from that selection. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
