ArcSerc is a very good product, easy to use. I have been using ArcServ for 6 years now. Whether it's backup or restoration, it's really very simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The problem with arcserv is at the licensing level, the portal is not very user-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not a lot, instant VM I guess, impressive de-dupe Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Lack of meaningful reports, missing info on reports, product is flaky - works one night, not the next, recovery takes an age - 30-40 minutes to load a backup set, and if you've got the wrong date, 30-40 minutes more for the next one ad infinitum. Search is hopeless. Support takes a loooong time. Was fine for small PoC, scaling up to 00's brings nothing but pain. 'Agentless' backups can't cope with more than a handful of nodes - ended up having to install agents everywhere - which we wanted to get away from Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the product because it is very reliable when it comes to backing up data and restoring the data. I've had good experience with this product for the past 10 years. I'm planning to upgrade our existing 7100 appliance in a few months. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Overall it's a good product, however, I would like for the tech support to be more faster. Tech support is great. I just think that the call back should be faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The backups are quick, compared to the tape system we used to have, its extremely quick. Especially once the original seeding is done, the incrementals take almost not time at all to go through. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes when our replication box disconnects (network issue) the merge jobs then don't run properly when it reconnects so it tends to fill up more than it should. Not a huge deal, just means I have to hop in once a month or so and clean it up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Arcserve UDP is really easy to use and it has rich feature set for both Windows and Linux. Global deduplication is really market leader technology for our market. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Seperate product for tapes, which means, that you need to use another old fashion interface if you need to manage advanced tape features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Arcserve UDP is an effective backup, especially in our case, were other VM-only, agentless backups wouldn't work. The interface is relatively easy to navigate. The system is reliable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's not the easiest nor most intuitive to set up and use. There are some stability issues with both the server and the agents. There are times where a scheduled backup gets missed because an agent crashed or is locked. The agent's poor state isn't known until the backup fails. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Functional and has minimal issues backing up client data Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
restores of multiple individual users must be done individually. User creation is a pain when you want to delegate specific clients. Generates an email on job completion but we struggle to identify chronic issues. Clients would also like to see data storage per location. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There helpful sometimes but never finish the job. I have to do a lot on my own and google these issues with arcserve backup jobs, and BMR as well Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There lack of customer service and very argumental instead of listening and helping us out Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of use for adding agents, backup reports and restoring files when needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One disadvantage might be having to charge customers per GB instead of flat rates for tiers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is great how it combines many types of backups into an easy to use console. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is little to dislike about UDP. Their licensing and registration could use some work but once it is setup it is fine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
