Xero Pros and Cons

Xero has been an absolute game-changer for our business. The interface is clean, intuitive, and user-friendly, even for those without a strong accounting background. The real-time dashboard gives us a clear picture of our cash flow, and the ability to reconcile bank transactions with just a few clicks saves us hours each week.

Xero is easy to teach to people, as a consultant, I do this frequently. I use it personally for my own business as well. It has all the features that most businesses with less than about $5M to $10M (in my experience) will need, without overwhelming you with features that are only useful to a very small percentage of the population.

My major wish for Xero is that I wish it would include sub-accounts for the Chart of Accounts. The "colon" system with QB can be confusing -- since it's used for other things -- but the sub-accounts in the chart of accounts can be very useful, especially when one is trying to organize an existing company that currently has a giant mess in their accounting. I worked with some live stock clients, Xero reporting is not properly accounting the livestock reporting. so we integrated figured with it to keep track on live stock.
