Stack Overflow for Teams Overview

What is Stack Overflow for Teams?

Stack Overflow for Teams is a knowledge-sharing platform that facilitates the collection, curation, and dissemination of your company’s knowledge. We do this by providing a platform that’s familiar to developers, embedded into developer workflows, and closes the distance between people and the knowledge they need, using gamification to encourage contribution and engagement. The community-based platform connects knowledge seekers and domain experts through an easy-to-use Q&A tool developers already know with additional functionality built in to ensure institutional knowledge is validated, accessible, and up-to-date both now and in the future. OverflowAI, our new GenAI-powered features for Stack Overflow For Teams Enterprise, helps connect technologists to solutions faster by doing the heavy lifting of searching for technical and institutional knowledge by surfacing and sourcing answers in natural ways, in the environments developers work in.

What do you like best about Stack Overflow for Teams?

It serves the double purpose of opening threads to answer questions asynchronously and being a source of documentation for the team. The longer we use it, the better! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

It's a bit hard for smaller teams to get used to it in the beginning: it's usually easier to tap your workmate's shoulder and just ask what you want to ask instead of interrupting your workflow and typing down a question Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Stack Overflow for Teams solving and how is that benefiting you?

As said before, it helps us create documentation while asking questions we would have asked regardless. The documentation comes as a really nice freebie! The key difference between this and asking stuff on a messaging platform is the easiness in the searchability of the resources Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Stack Overflow for Teams solving and how is that benefiting you?

One of the critical problems that Stack Overflow for Teams solves is the issue of knowledge silos. Without a centralized knowledge base, important information can get trapped in the heads of individual team members, making it difficult for others to access that knowledge when needed. By providing a platform where team members can share their experiences, Stack Overflow for Teams ensures that knowledge is shared more effectively across the organization. What do you dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams?

When asked about what I dislike about Stack Overflow for Teams, there are two aspects worth mentioning. First, the limitation that comments on answers can only be edited within the first 5 minutes is frustrating. It would be more convenient to have a longer editing window. Second, the inability to rate or evaluate responses to answers is a drawback. It would be beneficial to have the option to provide feedback on those responses as well. A lot of valuable questions and answers live in Slack conversations. But Slack conversations are sometimes private, and the search functionality in Slack isn't really made for Q&A. Also, when Slack needs a migration, or when a person leaves the company, that conversation might become unsearcheable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
