495 HackerRank Developer Skills Platform Reviews

The automation to evaluate each of the exercises as well as the feedback it provides to know which skills are being assessed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not being able to have executive feedback without the need to share the results as well as not having sample tests to see the message that arrives to be able to explain to the collaborators. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
HackerRank is a great tool for improve coding skills and to improve our thinking and problem-solving abilities. Overall great product for learning new programming language and do coding. Its very easy to use and have great supporting team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Its admin cost and user cost is more expensive. Apart from that everything is Good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
HackerRank has a great library of coding challenges that we can choose from which helps alleviate some of the upfront costs. I'm also impressed by some of the cheating detection features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One wishlist feature I have is automatic follow ups - I don't think HackerRank sends reminders if a candidate doesn't take the coding challenge and it's something I have to do manually. Also the integration with Greenhouse is somewhat limited as I wish I could bulk send tests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the ability to customize tests for all of the tech roles that i hire for. Recently we were having trouble pushing qualified AI/ML engineers through our pipeline. By creating an assessment with the skills question bank, we were able to help weed out non technical candidates earlier in the process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is not much to note here. One thing I have noticed is that when I am working with a stakeholder to create a test there isnt a real easy way to give him/her access to the platform so they can look through all the questions available. The only way to do so is for me to share my screen and do it for them while they tell me what to click, or for them to take control of my screen.
I realize you make money off of seats that have access to the platform. Im wondering if there is way for users of the platform to grant Hiring Managers a limit timed access to the platform for them to create a test much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It has been instrumental in reducing the work load on engineers in the hiring process. We can effectively screen applicants for the right skills and flag any plagiarism, code similar to other users etc.
The integrations are good e.g. green house / ashby.
The format is easy to navigate and review. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I'm not sure - need to check with the engineers on this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Clean and easy to use interface. Has good basic IDE features for the candidates taking the test. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
No way to close the Input/Output tab by default on opening of code pair test. Always have to close that tab on the right for my dummy test.
The example "at home" tests available for multiple languages are too hard for senior qa automation role. Hence we are stuck with using only 2 tests.
Also lately lot of candidates passing the at home tests are very weak and fail to pass the code pair test. Not sure how can hackerrank help in ensuring candidates that clear at home tests are genuine or not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

HackerRank's tests are very easy to set up, and candidates seem to enjoy using the platform. I also really like how nicely it integrates with our HR platform. Customer support is also very proactive about taking and actioning on feedback. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Occasionally some of the wording on certain questions can be more complicated than necessary. There have been times that we've used the auto-replace feature for leaked questions, and the replaced question could end up being more difficult than what we'd really been wanting (this has been recently fixed though, so very happy to see that). HackerRank is an excellent platform for coding challenges and technical assessments. It’s easy to use, highly intuitive, and supports a wide range of programming languages, making it accessible for developers of all levels.
One standout feature is the recent addition of activity tracking, which detects when a user switches windows, resizes the screen, or engages in suspicious behavior. This enhances the integrity of assessments, making it a valuable tool for both recruiters and candidates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The distinction between input and output blocks is unclear for some candidates, making it harder to follow. Additionally, long output gets collapsed by default into a small window, which makes reviewing results inconvenient. It would be better if outputs remained fully visible by default. Can assess candidates using standardised and custom coding challenges which can be stored in templates.
Browser based IDE allows users to write, test, and run code without local setup.
Support for multiple languages and frameworks Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Timed challenges encourage quick solutions rather than well structured, maintainable code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are tons of inbuilt tests on multiple technologies and coding languages like C, Python, docker, Kubernetes that makes it very easy to create tests. Then there are features to create tests and send them out to the candidates. In addition, you can have a codepairing session that allows you to work together with the candidates while they perform a test and allows to share screen, this allows us to test the candidates in more complex scenerios and talk them through their approach as well.
The test results are presented in a nice format that gives me an overview of the candidate's skills as well option to go deeper. I also like the cheating detection capabilities of the platform that helps to keep out cheaters.
We use hackerrank for every interview and it helps us filter candidates that are suitable for the job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
practical questions for some of the technologies like Kafka and consul aren't easily available. Creating new tests for those aren't very straightforward. I wish there was an option to create or request those tests easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
