Job Costing Software

Typically, Job Costing is a capability of a variety of other G2 Software categories. See more below to select the

best Job Costing Software.

Job costing is used to track the cost of a product or service and the revenue generated from it. In turn, this helps to determine profit margins on a job-by-job basis and identify overall profits and losses for the offering. Job costing can be performed using a variety of software including project management systems, professional service automation tools, project-based ERP, ERP suites, or (for a more bootstrap approach) time tracking solutions. All of these tools offer features for tracking the amount of time, effort, and resources that go into an offering and allows users to easily break that down to determine total profits. Job costing is heavily used in the construction industry as well, and there are many products catered specifically to construction accounting.

“Work That Wows”
What do you like best about monday Work Management?

Monday Work Management is my favourite since it is highly adaptable and easy to use. It helps us to align the workflow even though we are working on multiple projects. It makes work easy to manage, assign and track tasks.

It helps us to view the status of the tasks without any complications. This tool is highly efficient for improving team transparency, accountability and efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about monday Work Management?

The app is not user-friendly when used on Mobile. A few useful features are available only in plans which are higher in cost. Also, when there are many columns and boards, it is a little confusing, but they are manageable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is monday Work Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

Monday Work Management has helped to solve several challenges like visibility into Project Progress, difficulty tracking team responsibilities and scattered communication. All task updates and communication are in one place, so it provides a complete and clear view about the task, who worked on it, currently who is working on it and when it is due. Overall, it has made collaboration more efficient, improved accountability, and saved time across the team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Super Easy and Helpful!”
What do you like best about Asana?

Asana is very easy to set up, with a guided process that makes everything clear from the start. Switching between different views like list, board, and calendar helps me stay organized in a way that fits the task.

The automation features help ensure that processes are followed consistently, without needing extra effort. I also really like the forms feature, which makes it easy to standardize processes that require input from external collaborators.

It’s a solid tool that I use daily to keeps things efficient and straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

The AI Studio feels quite limited at the moment. It requires too many strict rules and structure just to help the AI understand basic tasks. In many cases, it's quicker to just do the work manually.

Reporting could also use some improvement. The charts look nice, but they lack deeper interactivity and clearer explanations, which would make them more useful for decision-making.

Also, features like Portfolio goals and mission feel like they should be part of the standard paid plan. Since they’re mostly diagramming tools, it’s hard to justify upgrading to a higher pricing tier just to access them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Asana solving and how is that benefiting you?

It helps me manage projects in the marketing department and keep workflows streamlined, organized, and easy to follow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Powerful, Intuitive, and Well-Supported Work Management Tool”
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

What I love most about Smartsheet is how easy it is to get started — even as a first-time user, I was able to explore and quickly understand how to use it without needing much guidance. It's incredibly powerful and flexible; I’ve been able to manage resources, implement internal workflows, and achieve almost everything I need with it.

One of the best aspects is its integration capabilities — I can easily pull Smartsheet data into Power BI and combine it with data from other systems to create rich, visual dashboards. This has significantly improved how we analyze and report on business processes.

The user support is also top-notch. There's a wealth of knowledge available in online forums, and Smartsheet's support team is proactive — they reach out regularly to check in and offer help, which enhances the overall user experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

If I had to mention one area for improvement, it would be the UI design. While functional, it could be more visually polished compared to some competitors.

Overall, Smartsheet is a reliable and user-friendly platform that empowers teams to work more efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Smartsheet solving and how is that benefiting you?

We initially used Excel, hosted on SharePoint, to manage our marketing activities. However, we encountered many issues with collaboration across multiple users. That led us to search for a more suitable cloud-based alternative — and Smartsheet has been a great solution.

It has significantly improved our team’s ability to collaborate in real time, automate workflows, generate reports, and integrate data from multiple systems. Over time, we expanded our use of Smartsheet beyond marketing and found that it’s extremely versatile.

Now we also use it for managing business travel, presales lead qualification, and various internal processes. Smartsheet has become an essential tool that helps us get work done more efficiently and effectively across teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Notion is my creative command center a must-have for designers”
What do you like best about Notion?

What I love most about Notion is how customizable and flexible it is. I’ve built personalized dashboards for each client, organized all my design files, and even created moodboards right inside Notion. The ability to switch between kanban, calendar, and list views makes managing design workflows a breeze. Sharing pages with clients and getting real-time feedback saves a lot of time and keeps everything organized. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Notion?

Sometimes, the mobile experience isn't as smooth as the desktop version, especially when working with image-heavy pages. It also lacks deep integrations with key design tools like Figma or Adobe Creative Cloud, which would make it even more powerful for creatives like me. And while the app is super flexible, beginners might feel overwhelmed with the blank canvas at first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Seamless team communication with intuitive integrations”
What do you like best about Slack?

Slack makes team collaboration fast and efficient with real-time messaging, easy file sharing, and integrations with tools like Google Drive, Trello, and Salesforce. The ability to create channels for focused discussions and search past conversations helps maintain clarity and continuity in projects. I also appreciate the Slackbot and reminder features for quick automation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Slack?

Sometimes the constant flow of messages can feel overwhelming, especially in larger workspaces. Notifications can pile up quickly if not managed properly. Additionally, the mobile app, while functional, occasionally lags or fails to sync in real-time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Slack solving and how is that benefiting you?

Slack solves the problem of scattered communication by bringing all team conversations, files, and tools into one centralized platform. It reduces the need for long email threads and meetings by enabling real-time collaboration. For me, this means quicker decision-making, better alignment with my team, and the ability to stay organized with searchable message history, threads, and integrations with tools we already use like Google Drive, Zoom, and Salesforce. “All in one integrated accounting and project management system”
What do you like best about Unanet GovCon?

Unanet GovCon offers users a wealth of data and comprehensive reporting. The platform has helped our project managers, department heads develop project plans and forecast productivity, revenue, and profitability of their teams. The forecasting function of the platform alone has helped our firm better understand our revenue flow and plan for any changes. We can set permissions across different roles to ensure that information access stays at a need-to-know basis. Unanet Gov Con is a seamless system that serves as an accounting, time management, and project management platform all in one! Prior to this we were using multiple systems for project management, time entry, invoicing and accounts payable, and accounting. We used to waste hours, often days, at the end of every month to close the month and bill for services across different platforms. Now this our closing process is a series of clear and concise steps. No more wasted time! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Unanet GovCon?

The user interface is a little dated and less streamlined than I would like. It can often take what feels like too many clicks to run a report or review a project plan. It would be great if all reports were convertible to a CSV file or Excel file. The JSR, especially. Making custom report building a little easier and intuitive would also be great. Lastly, it would be really helpful if Unanet would develop a cash flow report as part of its canned financial reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Unanet GovCon solving and how is that benefiting you?

Its making the information flow from different data sources much easier to reconcile. For instance, taking the information entered into time sheets almost instantly into everything from project-specific invoices, revenue forecasts, and profitability reports is extremely helpful and time saving. We have different rates on different projects so for us to project our revenue accurately was incredible time consuming and frankly hard to do. Prior to having unanet, it felt like we were often guessing at how we will perform each year. This has made a world of difference in understanding our finances and how we will perform year over year. Procore is an outstanding tool for the construction industry. Its website is user-friendly, and the app is compatible with all operating systems, making it accessible to a diverse range of users. The courses offered by Procore are well-structured and intensive, providing valuable insights and knowledge. The tools available on both the website and the app are powerful resources for everyone involved in construction projects, particularly for construction management firms. I enjoyed participating in this learning course and appreciated the opportunity to take an exam to assess the knowledge I gained. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Jira?

jira is a very complete platform for project management, in my company we use it particularly to manage software projects and we perform an integration with bitbucket for the registration of source code.

among the best options are: manage custom flows, adapt to work with agile methodology or scrum, component vesionization, set priorities, add customizable fields, adapt screens to customer taste, integration with many other providers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jira?

so far the things that have upset me have been very few, perhaps of the most important is that I would like the on-premises version to be installed on linux servers, that the reports of hours logged by user were more friendly, and that there was a Native mobile app to track tickets when you're not on the computer. LM
“Powerful Platform, Comprehensive but Not Seamless”
What do you like best about NetSuite?

NetSuite is a powerful and robust platform that brings together many facets of our business. I really appreciate having a single source of truth for everything from project management to financial reporting. The ability to tie so many operational and financial processes together in one system is incredibly valuable. I also like knowing there's much more we could unlock — it's a tool with a lot of depth, and I wish we had the time and resources to take fuller advantage of all it offers. Integration with other modules has gone smoothly so far. It is a tool we use daily! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about NetSuite?

Despite its strengths, there are areas where NetSuite feels disjointed or underdeveloped. For example:

Some fields are only usable in resource management and not available elsewhere, which creates unnecessary limitations.

Project task functionality feels like an afterthought, not a fully integrated part of the system.

It's frustrating that Service Items can’t be linked to employees without a custom script — especially when selling professional services is the majority of our business.

We've had a support ticket open for over a year regarding a syntax error, and there’s still no resolution.

We also have an open support ticket related to mass updates on effective-dated fields in employee records. Every year, when we perform these updates, the system wipes out the “special skills” section — even when using forms where that section is hidden. Despite multiple attempts and troubleshooting, the issue remains unresolved after more than a year.

Nothing here would keep me from recommending the system to others. In fact, some of these issues and those not mentioned convinced me to work towards certification. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is NetSuite solving and how is that benefiting you?

NetSuite gives us a centralized system to manage our operations, financials, and project-based activities all in one place. It replaces disconnected tools and spreadsheets by integrating project management, time tracking, billing, reporting, and general ledger into a single platform. This helps ensure consistency, improves visibility across departments, and supports better decision-making.

It also gives our teams access to real-time data, which is critical for both day-to-day operations and long-term planning. For a business like ours — with a mix of R&D, professional services, and manufacturing — having one system to manage everything reduces manual effort, minimizes errors, and provides the foundation for scalability. “Powerful, Flexible, and Surprisingly Easy to Scale”
What do you like best about Airtable?

Its flexibility and structure.

Airtable gives you the best of both worlds: the familiarity of a spreadsheet with the power of a relational database. I can link subs to jobs, roll up how many jobs they’ve filled, and filter or sort based on nearly any criteria — without writing code. The ability to automate workflows (like sending job claim confirmations or alerting admins) adds real efficiency, and the Interfaces tool makes it feel like a custom-built dashboard tailored for my school.

Plus, being able to customize field types, control visibility, and align the look with Brownell Talbot’s branding gives it a professional polish that you don’t get with a plain spreadsheet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Airtable?

Limited design customization and pricing limitations.

While Airtable is powerful, it can feel visually rigid — especially if you're trying to make it match a specific brand or website aesthetic. Interface Designer has come a long way, but it still lacks font customization, finer layout control, and public-facing design polish (without third-party tools like Softr).

Also, some of the most useful features (automations, Interfaces, advanced filtering) are capped on the free plan, which makes it hard to scale without upgrading — even if you're just one person building something small but high-functioning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Airtable solving and how is that benefiting you?

Airtable has allowed me to build a substitute portal for my substitute teacher roster at my school. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Good PSA and RMM, but would love to have more customization options”
What do you like best about Syncro?

I like Syncro because it's pretty easy to use compared to other systems I have used. It is quick to get started with, and installing the RMM software is as easy as copying the link in the ticket and sending it to the customer's machine.

The built-in dark mode makes it comfortable to work in, and I appreciate how intuitive the interface is. I also find the ability to link parent and child tickets very helpful for tracking related issues efficiently. Plus, being able to sync appointments made in Syncro directly with Outlook is a huge time saver and keeps everything organized in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Syncro?

I really wish Syncro was more customizable. One thing I really do not like is the new customer contact page. I do not like going to another page after clicking on one contact; i liked the method before of being able to see all of the contacts on the left side and easily switching between them.

Speaking of functionality changes, I would appreciate a feature like Microsoft has that you are able to revert back to the previous version instead of being forced to use new features that might not be something that i like to use.

we also would like the ability to set an out of office message in syncro for tickets / customer replies. also, sometimes when linking / modifying tickets, my timer gets stopped without me realizing it and i lose track of my time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Trello: Simple, Visual, and Great for Organizing”
What do you like best about Trello?

What I love about Trello is how simple it is to use and how visual everything is. I’m the type of person who likes to see everything laid out clearly, and Trello does that perfectly. The boards and cards let me organize my tasks exactly how I want to, and it’s super easy to assign things and track progress. It’s also really flexible you can use it for literally anything, whether it’s work or just personal to-dos. It’s one of those tools you can just dive into and start using right away without much thought. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Trello?

The only thing I don’t love about Trello is that, when you have a ton of cards or boards, it can get a little messy and hard to keep track of. It’s great for smaller projects, but once things get bigger, it lacks some of the more advanced features you might need. I’ve also noticed that the interface can feel a little cluttered when you’ve got a lot going on, which can make navigating a bit tricky. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Trello solving and how is that benefiting you?

I've been able to keep my life considerably more organized because to Trello. I used to get a little lost with all the notes and lists in multiple apps. Having everything in one location is now easier thanks to Trello. I can see what needs to be done, who is responsible for what, and what I have already completed. I don't waste time hunting for stuff because it's so easy to use. Additionally, it keeps me from feeling overburdened when I manage several projects at once. I feel like I have a lot more control over everything now, and it has really saved me time and stress Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

1. User-Friendly Interface – Clean and intuitive layout makes navigation seamless, even for first-time users.

2. Swift Performance – Quick loading with no noticeable lag, which is crucial during tight delivery windows.

3. Hassle-Free Template Setup – Project creation using ready-made templates is straightforward, efficient and easy to implement.

4. Unified Project Visibility – Consolidates all project-related data into one dependable source. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rocketlane?

Comparing the current project state with the original or past plans can be challenging. With multiple revisions (3–4 iterations), adapting and establishing baselines from previous versions isn’t as smooth as expected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rocketlane solving and how is that benefiting you?

Previously lacked a central tracking system - Rocketlane now acts as a unified hub for all project updates, minimizing ambiguity and eliminating reliance on multiple disconnected tools.

Stakeholders had limited visibility into progress - Built-in project views and automated status reports offer leadership the clarity they need—no additional follow-ups required.

Cross-functional collaboration was inefficient - Defined task ownership and timelines across teams have significantly improved coordination and accountability.

Challenging to manage several projects simultaneously - The portfolio-level dashboard enables clear visibility across accounts, making it easier to identify risks and delays early on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It allows perfect control of tasks in progress, pending tasks, completed tasks, canceled tasks, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Wrike?

The only problem I see with Wrike is that sometimes when I change the status of tasks, it becomes difficult for me to find them again to know if they ended up in the correct status or not. What do you like best about Acumatica?

I love how everything is related or linked together. I can always follow the "breadcrumb" trail and find what I need. A sales order tells the entire story, from shipment, to invoice, to supplier bill, and so on. It's fantastic to have a cloud-based ERP where our entire company can access information easily. Acumatica is just what we needed to scale and grow our business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Acumatica?

At this point in our implementation (less than a year on Acumatica), I don't really have any downsides to list. Having a data driven system has forced our company and our employees to be better stewards of our data input. Sometimes Acumatica can feel rigid to get new customers or items created - but rather, it's a blessing in disguise because it forces us to set things up correctly the first time. What problems is Acumatica solving and how is that benefiting you?

“How Bordio simplified our workflow: a simple solution for our growing team's needs”
What do you like best about Bordio?

A huge advantage for us is the convenience and minimalism of the interface. Our team consists of many young people who are used to simplicity, and when we tried to implement other solutions (we tried OrangeScrum, Odoo, Trello, Jira), they were almost always met with resistance because they were complex and inconvenient. Another big plus is the excellent mobile applications, which do not glitch, unlike many other systems, and they are very useful for quick work, especially during meetings. What do you dislike about Bordio?

There are two minor features we currently miss in Bordio: the ability to export timesheets and a clock timer for tasks. We've provided feedback on these, and we understand they'll be included in upcoming updates. These small drawbacks don't significantly impact our overall positive experience with the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Bordio solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are a small team, and before we started using a task management system, we used WhatsApp to assign tasks to each other. However, as our team grew, it turned into complete chaos. We were overwhelmed with an enormous number of chats, information got lost, and it was difficult to track who didn't complete a task when needed.

Our work efficiency increased, team communication sped up, and Bordio's clear interface made it easy to plan sprints. Most importantly, we can now always check the work history.

We are still in the process of improving our workflows, but it is clear that Bordio will help us achieve the level of management we are aiming for. In terms of numbers: our turnover increased by 40% last year. Of course, this is the result of comprehensive work, but Bordio is one of the main innovations for us and likely has had a significant impact on this result. “An Awesome ERP Experience”
What do you like best about XoroERP?

All modules are easily accessible within the menu using a dropdown or a search. It's really easy to use - best of all, it's cloud based and so I can access it from any device, even on mobile. The customer support is always excellent, the Xoro team is always listening to our feedback and finding solutions to our unique workflows. Managing our orders has never been easier and the integration options are plentiful! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about XoroERP?

It would be nice if you could somehow easily switch between users within the same page. Not a big deal though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is XoroERP solving and how is that benefiting you?

Having visibility into all orders and all the details is really easy to do in Xoro. Other ERP's struggle with this. And it's all configurable so you can see only what you want to see. On top of that, the advance search capabilities lets you filters out the orders using almost any criteria. This makes processing/fulfilling orders really simple as you can do them in batches. “Great for Project Budgets”
What do you like best about Ravetree?

The project budgeting features in Ravetree are the best I've ever seen. We were in spreadsheets prior to using Ravetree and looked at other tools before moving to Ravetree. They were the only one that had the budgeting features we needed. Specifically, we needed to set budgets for each project phase and then have those roll up to the project. We also needed the ability to invoice for each of these phases—sometimes as a percentage. Ravetree allows for all of this. Very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Ravetree?

There's nothing I dislike, but it would be nice if they had a full general ledger accounting system to handle accounts payable, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Ravetree solving and how is that benefiting you?

Ravetree helps us map out projects, set project budgets, allocate people to those projects, log time and expenses, and create invoices. Pretty much all of the day to day stuff at our firm. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
