DevOps Software

Typically, DevOps is a capability of a variety of other G2 Software categories. See more below to select the

best DevOps Software.

DevOps is more than a singular solution, it is an overarching philosophy that employs multiple software systems. The concept has been developed to bridge the gap between two traditionally siloed teams, development and operations. More specifically, through agile processes, the two teams work together to optimize productivity and deliver better apps and services to customers. As a result of the cross-departmental nature of DevOps, the process requires multiple tools from varying software categories. On the development side, all products in the Continuous Delivery category and subcategories, including Continuous Deployment, Continuous Integration, Build Automation, and Configuration Management, contribute to DevOps practices. These tools allow developers to release a project's code at any time, making building, testing, and improving apps a continuous process. Source code management systems provide many of the same benefits as CD tools, helping uncover errors and security risks in original versions of code. This leads to a more efficient process when developing and managing an app or service. In order to ensure this type of efficiency, team collaboration tools can be implemented to provide an open link of communication between all departments utilizing a DevOps strategy.

“The user experience is confusing”
What do you like best about LaunchDarkly?

The key handling for each environment and predefined endpoints at LaunchDarkly makes it easy to get started. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about LaunchDarkly?

The user experience is confusing. In which menu I can find things is not intuitive. The rule set works but I can't point a customer here since a customer will need a separate UI with simple toggles, maybe an idea could be to be able to generate custom UIs from rule sets. I also want to be able to have a key casing convention for UPPER_SNAKECASE which is the most common one used for environment variables, since I want to be able to replace environment variable settings with feature flags if they exist. The "hello world" setup for Launch Darkly is not something you would want to use in production, so it would be good is there was more framework related setup done. The setup in ASP.NET core for reading in feature flags as options could have been provided by I library for ease of use, instead of me having to develop the code myself. There also seems to be a lack of tutorials on YouTube which gives the impression that this is not a product commonly used. When entering the webpage I would expect to get online help interactivly showing what the product can do, instead of just showing unfamiliar terms in my face. I do not like the need to wait for sampled data from the user before being able to setup a rule against that user, I would want to be able to have a predefined rule sets even without anyone having made a call to Launch Darkly. My favorite environments keep disappearing so I have to add them again every time I login. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is LaunchDarkly solving and how is that benefiting you?

Its helping me allow customers to try out features in production by toggling them on and off.

It is probably overkill and It would be beneficial to be able to configure the actual features I am able to see since most will never be used.

It would also be good to be able to show the customer a simpler interface with the limited ability to just toggle features, that was adaptable to mobile screens etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

AS
“The Best Tool for Version Control and Team Projects & also for Opensource projects”
What do you like best about GitHub?

GitHub has phenomenal ease of use due to its clean user interface and intuitive navigation. It's easy for beginners to get started, and has a short learning curve for experienced developers. The setup process is easy and allows you to create a project and integrate it with Git in no time. GitHub is a part of my weekly workflow for version control and code collaboration, and project management. GitHub provides a wealth of features including pull requests, actions, issue tracking, discussions, etc., that allow the team to stay productive. GitHub integrates seamlessly with a variety of other tools, be it Slack, CI/CD, Trello, and many others. The ease of onboarding customers has limited direct customer support, but after testing and using the platform, the active community and documentation makes it easy to fix most user issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitHub?

GitHub is arguably the best platform, however, as a beginner, I felt overwhelmed by some of the functions GitHub offered and the complexities of getting started with Git. For example, the interface feels cluttered with too much going on at times. Private repositories and team features were also limited on the free plan, and responses from customer support for free users took forever at times. GitHub also did not handle monorepos efficiently, nor did it handle binary files when leveraging Git LFS. Some integrations added additional setup times to be useful, and I feel the project board experience is shallow compared to dedicated tools like Jira or Trello. All that goes to say, I think it is a fantastic tool, but GitHub has room to improve the usability, flexibility, pricing models, and performance at the enterprise scale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitHub solving and how is that benefiting you?

GitHub addresses the problems of collaboration, version control and code management by bringing a group of people to work together from one place, in an efficient and organized way. Code reviews, issue management and pull requests, are all captured within GitHub, with easy-to-find histories of changes and history. Automating workflows with GitHub Actions (for workflows such as testing and deployment) is easy as well. In addition to all of the benefit possibilities from GitHub alone, its integrations with services and cloud platforms provide a streamlined development experience. It has increased my productivity, ensured code quality and simplified communication with my team—whether I am working alone or with many people. With everything in one location—from documentation, all the way to CI/CD—it has saved me time and helped me keep my project organized and scalable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Bitrise solving and how is that benefiting you?

As a Mobile App developer I was in the need of having a centralized CI/CD server on premisses for my apps. Before Bitrise I used Jenkins but it forced me to be always within the network to be able to interact with the pipelines.

I just hooked my repository and it builds and test my apps on every PR merged into our main branch.

“Valuable and useful but comes with it's own unique challenges”
What do you like best about Salesforce Platform?

Drag-and-drop interface: I can create apps, forms, workflows, and dashboards maybe more or less without much coding knowledge.

Automated workflows: I can automate business processes like approvals, notifications, or record updates using Flow Builder.

Custom objects and fields: I can adapt Salesforce exactly to the business neeeds.

Reusable components: UI components can be created and reused through Lightning App Builder.

Grows with your team: This enables users to build solutions without having to wait for the developers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Salesforce Platform?

Hidden costs: Need to pay extra for: Add-ons like Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, CPQ, etc. Customization and integration often require hiring Salesforce-certified consultants, which adds to costs

Hard for non-tech users to understand terminology (objects, Apex, flows, triggers) and navigate between Classic and Lightning interfaces.

Note: if you are using large datasets - then system lag time is high.

Customising can be tough as it requires more ongoing maintenance, i.e we need dedicated salesforce team/admin to just keep things running.

There is a risk of functionality breaking during platform updates (which happen three times a year). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Salesforce Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?

Salesforce lightning is helping me boost productivity and makes our work [and life] easier by doing the followingg:

Manage Cases: Track, assign, and resolv customer service issues very efficiently.

Handle Contacts and Accounts: Maintain customer and company records and link them to related data.

Create Reports and Dashboards: Generate and visualize performance metrics, trends, and KPIs.

Collaborate via Chatter: Communicate with team members, share updates, and follow important records.

Store and Share Files: Upload documents and attach them to relevant records for easy access. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Gitlab- Best in class tool for source control and CI/CD”
What do you like best about GitLab?

There are a lot of great things about GitLab. First of all, it has a feature to create multiple levels of groups. Then the CI/CD pipelines are very easy to use.

GitLab provides container registries, dependency proxy to pull container images, manages the Kubernetes environments etc.

The implementation of GitLab self-hosted runners is also very easy, and GitLab has enough documentation for the setup.

The integration of GitLab is pretty simple.

I am using GitLab daily for day-to-day operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitLab?

GitLab support is a factor that I don't like about GitLab. They are too slow to respond to P1 incidents. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is GitLab solving and how is that benefiting you?

The first problem that GitLab is solving for our organization is the source control. It is very easy to create/clone/import repositories on GitLab.

We are creating GitLab repositories/projects using Terraform and that explains the amazing documentation of GitLab Terraform provider.

The next thing that GitLab is helping us is the CI/CD. GitLab has the abillity to create downstream pipelines that helps us in managing deployment pipelines for various environments originating from a single CI pipeline. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“🚀 Super Smooth CI/CD with Stellar Support!”
What do you like best about Semaphore?

Semaphore CI makes it incredibly easy to get started. With zero prior experience on the platform, I was able to spin up a working pipeline to build and test my service in no time. Their "Getting Started" flow is one of the best I've seen — it's clear, structured, and genuinely helps you get up to speed fast. Integrating Semaphore into my existing repositories and services was seamless. I now use Semaphore daily as part of my customer's regular development workflow, and slowly migrating their pipelines over from another CI/CD provider. On top of that, the support team deserves a massive shoutout. They’ve consistently responded within 24 hours and always offer actionable solutions. It’s hands-down some of the best support I’ve ever received from a tech company. Their free tier is also incredibly generous compared to other CI/CD platforms — perfect for testing out the service or running smaller projects without a financial commitment. I've already recommended Semaphore to others and plan to use it on more projects in the future. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Semaphore?

Honestly, there’s very little to complain about. The only minor challenge I had was adjusting to their build script format, which is a bit different from what I’m used to. But it’s not a big issue — the visual pipeline builder really helps smooth out that learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Semaphore solving and how is that benefiting you?

“It has been flexible enough to meet our needs”
What do you like best about Harness Platform?

To streamline deployments without compromising security, it is crucial for software development companies to have a platform that optimises integration and continuous delivery. Harness further reduces our deployment risk with automatic monitoring and rollback capabilities. The user interface is very easy to use; we have been able to halve deployment times from hours to minutes by configuring CI/CD pipelines in a matter of minutes. Unit, integration and performance tests can be seamlessly integrated into the pipeline thanks to test automation. Reports have been invaluable in communicating performance data to stakeholders and showing customers the value we offer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Harness Platform?

The multiple settings and adjustments may confuse some purchasers. Especially if you're new to these tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Harness Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?

As far as Harness is concerned, my strategy has been to facilitate efficient adoption of the platform by customers. While they may require my assistance during initial setup, many DevOps and development teams quickly recognize the benefits of automation. One of the most important things that has helped customers learn how to improve their operations is personalized training. Automated testing and deployment to various environments were part of the pipeline we established in Harness. Because of this, we were able to deploy the feature smoothly and get favorable feedback from users. We have also introduced proactive support that helps customers identify potential issues before they impact their deployments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“From localhost to https, in seconds. "Deploy from Git or your CLI"”
What do you like best about Vercel?

What I like about Vercel is its holistic approach to abstracting away infrastructure complexity. It provides a great superior developer experience that is laser-focused on one thing: shipping high-performance web applications faster. The platform's architecture feels incredibly intuitive with "zero-configuration" philosophy for deployments, paired with a powerful global edge network, transforms our entire development and release workflow.

Specifically, these are the features I value most:

- Automated CI/CD Pipeline: The Git integration is seamless and powerful. Once a repository is linked, Vercel’s CI/CD just works, without needing manual YAML configuration or complex pipeline setup. It intelligently handles monorepos, automatically building and deploying only the projects that have changed.

- Collaborative Preview Deployments: This feature alone has revolutionized our workflow. For every pull request, Vercel generates a unique, shareable, and fully functional preview of the application. This isn't just a static mock-up; it's a live environment. It enables asynchronous collaboration between developers, QA, designers, and product managers, allowing them to test and provide feedback on actual working code before it ever reaches production.

- The Global Edge Network for Peak Performance: Vercel’s commitment to speed is evident in its Edge Network. It automatically handles caching and serves assets from points-of-presence close to the end-user, which has a direct and measurable positive impact on our Core Web Vitals. Furthermore, its built-in, automatic Image Optimization service is best-in-class, serving next-gen formats and resizing images on the fly without any developer effort.

- A Symbiotic Relationship with Next.js: As a team that heavily relies on Next.js, Vercel is the definitive cloud-native platform for it. The integration is flawless. Advanced features like Server-Side Rendering (SSR), Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR), Server Components, and API Routes are not just supported; they are optimized to run with maximum efficiency and scalability on Vercel's infrastructure.

- Effortless Scalability with Serverless and Edge Functions: Vercel makes backend logic incredibly accessible and scalable. We use Serverless Functions for heavier tasks like processing form data or interacting with a database, and they scale from zero to massive workloads without any intervention. The addition of Edge Functions, which run on the Edge Network itself, has been perfect for lightweight middleware, such as handling authentication, running A/B tests, or modifying requests, all with near-zero latency.

- Analytics: Vercel Analytics provides real-world performance data directly from our users' devices, measuring metrics like FCP, LCP, and a Real Experience Score. What I appreciate most is that it's built with privacy in mind and has zero performance impact, as it doesn't require loading heavy third-party JavaScript libraries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vercel?

For our specific use case, the platform has consistently delivered on its promises without causing any friction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Vercel solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main issue Vercel addressed for our business was the friction and delays in our deployment process. Previously, shipping frontend updates was a manual, error-prone task that required dedicated DevOps resources. Additionally, our staging environments created bottlenecks, and collaboration between developers and non-technical stakeholders was inefficient.

After implementing Vercel, we nearly automated our entire deployment workflow. This significantly shortened our time-to-market for new features and bug fixes. The introduction of Preview Deployments fostered more collaboration and transparency during review cycles, enhancing the quality of our releases. Vercel’s managed infrastructure and scalable platform also allow our development team to focus solely on building features and enhancing the user experience, without worrying about server management or CDN configuration. “Scalable Automation, Non-Scalable Credential Usage”
What do you like best about Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform?

I've been using AAP for quite a while. In Tower, the concept of creating a "secure bubble wrap" by utilizing virtualenvs was a great idea. However, from my world of Secrets Management, it made it near impossible to get attributes of the workload executing within to identify it without a "secret zero".

Today, in AAP... the containerized execution environments are a game changer! Now, we can determine the attributes of the environment to provide it secrets and when the execution completes -- POOF! -- the container and all secrets within are gone!

This simple change in architecture to improve modernization was an amazing advancement! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform?

I said I was in secrets management, so you should see this one coming:

"The Single Credential Problem"

Today, Job Templates only support 1 Machine Credential. If I want to scale a job template across many hosts to patch them efficiently, there is no native way to accomplish this today. I have to utilize a workaround that employs the use of lookup plugins in the playbook and dynamically fetching secrets just-in-time based on inventory_hostname. It was actually my Lightning Talk for AnsibleFest here at Summit this week. The feature request was added to AWX in 2017.

Also, AAP has no underlying OIDC configuration. This makes it hard to utilize an identity-aware process that allows secrets management to utilize attributes of workloads (the "payload" of the JWT from OIDC) to identify them instead of a "secret zero" needing to be utilized. Cloud services and even OpenShift has this support today... a modern AAP should also support the same similar to most CI platforms out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?

I'm a Red Hat Partner employed by CyberArk. I don't have business problems that I'm solving for myself, but my customers have business problems they're trying to solve. The largest one is the one I referenced before where these teams are struggling to understand how to efficiently scale to many hosts in a secure way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Exceptional SAP Change Control tool used for more than 20 years!”
What do you like best about Rev-Trac?

Rev-Trac provides control of what configuration and development changes go into your productive SAP system all the way from Development to QA, Training and Sandpit environments. It ensures there are no object conflicts and that changes are transported in the necessary sequence.

It gives senior management visibility of the status of change requests as they are work-flowed through various stages, how old they are, and where any user is "holding on to" a change request (including business users).

Rev-Trac reports are also customisable using your own ABAP Programmers.

We were so impressed with the system in our Australian environment, we convinced our German headquarters to install Rev-Trac in their global instance.

It worked out of the box. Was easily customised to how you want to use it, and never lets us down!

In the rare cases where we may need assistance, or if we want to suggest new features, the Rev-Trac team are only too happy to help.

As the IT Director, I use it every day! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rev-Trac?

There's nothing to dislike about Rev-Trac! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rev-Trac solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before Rev-Trac was installed, we used the standard SAP Transport system to move changes from dev to test to prod. The change list was all held in a spreadsheet. This soon became unwieldly, and we had multiple instances of changes going into prod out of sequence. We also had little visibility across the business and IT team of which changes were in play, and who was the hold up.

Our internal and external auditors love the tool. It makes theirs and our lives so much easier during the annual audit process :-) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Effortless Deployments and Hosting with Great Developer Experience”
What do you like best about Netlify?

My most preferred aspect of Netlify is that static sites and JAMstack sites become deployable with a one-button click or simply a push to Git. The automated/continuous deployment from Git is smooth and all the built-in features like forms, serverless functions, redirects, and preview branches simplifies the development process. The dashboard is simple to work around and the free plan is surprisingly large and reduces the time for code and preview. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Netlify?

Netlify is good for the front-end and static websites, but there are some limits for more complex backend functionality. Lacks the logs to resolve the issues Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Netlify solving and how is that benefiting you?

Netlify simplifies hosting and launching modern web applications. I need not toworry about the servers, set up the CI/CD pipelines manually, nor concern myself with hosting. It automatically deploys and builds whenever I commit code by tying into Git. This is a significant time-saver and enables me to spend more time building rather than doing DevOps. Serverless functions, rollbacks that roll out speedily, and preview deployments are things that have automated my work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about AutoRABIT?

It's process to create commit and visualize the file differences Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AutoRABIT?

We can't easily uncommit any lines from the EZ-commit, now we need to review the artifact and manually remove and add only the expected lines. It would be great to have that feature to easily manage the artifact like we see in VSCode. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

“Best open source integration tool”
What do you like best about Jenkins?

Jenkins is open source and implementing it in our ecosystem does not cost much. It supports multiple plugins as per our requirements and it very customizable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Jenkins?

The initial setup takes up a lot of time and effort. There will be cases when we would have to manually debug pipelines and resolve issues. This can slow down the speed of deployment cycles. Hence, a dedicated team is necessary for this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Jenkins solving and how is that benefiting you?

Jenkins is open source so it does not cost a lot to the organization. It integrates with many applications such as GitHub, BitBucket, Jira, Bamboo and others. These integrations are very helpful for a developer. It also integrates with Sonar, SonarQube which helps in testing.

Jenkins has a clean and easy to use UI with a dedicated section to download plugins as per our own requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
