What do you like best about VMware Workstation Player?

What do you like best about VMware Workstation Pro?

Without a doubt, it is the best product for virtualizing on workstation equipment, both for testing platforms or technologies and for continuing to work on small loads.

The product itself is a fundamental tool in any IT environment, as it allows you to create virtual machines in minutes without needing a complete or large infrastructure to do so. The software appropriately chooses the necessary settings to achieve the best performance, as it has an automatic configurator. Among the main advantages, we can highlight:

- It has a multitude of tools and functions.

- It is possible to quickly share files between the host and the virtualized system.

- Compatible with smart card readers.

- Supports USB 3.0.

- Creation of snapshots that allow easy state restoration.

What do you like best about VMware Workstation Pro?

This program, Vmware Workstation Pro, allows you to create virtual machines, which is like having several computers within your usual computer. And depending on the characteristics of your equipment (with enough RAM and a good processor), you could have several of those virtual machines running at the same time. The virtual machine can be configured to be like an "independent" computer, which can even be connected to its own Wi-Fi network (if there are two different networks at your home or workplace), so you can simulate being in two different places at once, alternating your main desktop and the Vmware window. Today, with the widespread availability of mobile data plans, it may not seem very useful, but years ago it was widely used in online poker games, for example.

A virtual machine can also be used to test software on different operating systems, so that no unwanted changes occur on your main computer. Regardless of the operating system you have installed, you can install any system on the virtual machines (as long as you have the disk or license to do so). And it is very simple: you choose the characteristics the machine should have (basically assigned hard disk size, amount of RAM, and operating system), and then create it. Then at any time, you can choose which one you want to use and start it.

You can create several virtual machines without any problem (for example, with different versions of Linux or with W7 or another system), but it is normal to have only 1 or 2 running (apart from your own computer), since turning on these machines will consume memory and processor. It consumes quite a lot of resources and if you want to have several virtual machines running at the same time, you will need a very powerful computer with at least 8 GB of RAM (and if possible with 12 or 16 GB, better), depending on the OS on each machine. This is a program that allows the creation of various virtual machines, a kind of small computers within your computer. Through a very simple process, you can create a virtual machine with the characteristics you want: choosing the hard disk size, amount of RAM, the operating system (which can be different from the one you have installed on your computer, in fact, it is common),... Obviously, you must always consider the limitations of your own computer, since if you have, for example, a physical hard drive of 500 GB, you will not be able to create a machine of 550 GB. Once you have created it, you can turn it on, and it will be like having another computer in a window, and you can switch between your desktop (with Windows 10, for example) and the desktop of that virtual machine (with Windows 7, for example). This can be very useful, among other things, for carrying out various tests, ensuring that your computer will not undergo changes. When creating virtual machines with the default parameters that Vmware Workstation provides, I have encountered some problems starting the virtual machines. Allows virtualization of any OS very easily. It can be setup in minutes. It does help a lot as it does not hamper with the actual partition of the OS. What I like most about this tool is how efficient and intuitive it is, with this tool you can virtualize any operating system with which you can play and tinker, and if you break something, you can return to the original state from when you started the machine, also highlight the ease of transferring files from the host machine to the virtual machine, just by doing the well-known copy and paste, or by dragging the file in question to the virtual machine window. What do you dislike about VMware Workstation Player?

What I like least, perhaps, is that sometimes it can work smoothly with versions of operating systems, perhaps due to the assigned hardware or a bad configuration of it, but I must say that I have only had this problem on rare occasions and it is not widespread at all, quite the opposite, the default configuration is usually the most optimal configuration to achieve better performance in virtualization. What do you like best about VMware Workstation Player?

The flexibility in using all the operating systems I know, including Android and Linux, testing them before deploying or implementing them.
