What do you like best about Vev?
If you don't want to deal with coding, or if you dislike how other website buildings operate (WordPress..), Vev is something worth trying and investing in.
It's object based design makes it easier to understand than other builders, and a breeze to get into if you've had any experience with layer based programs like Photoshop.
It's very easy to see how your page will appear between screen sizes as well, and easy to edit content and page design separately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about Vev?
My main issue with valve is that there are no good tutorials on it and I think that's part because it's not popular enough to have the community resources that exist online to help newcomers.
While I did think that most of the Vev provided tutorials were helpful there was not a tutorial that went from the ground up on how Vev worked fundementally.
Considering that I do not have a background in web design but a little experience in Photoshop, I think it's ok to have a little difficulty, but I did try really hard to find any resource I could that could explain the features I was having trouble with.
Scaling was a very complicated thing for me as elements could get smaller or stay static or change position depending on how big the screen was, even between "modes". for example the screen would appear differently on say a large phone versus a smaller phone even though it didn't switch between say tablet and phone mode.
Small changes in pixel dimensions can impact the scaling and it was pretty difficult to learn how to scaling worked and I really think that they need to make tutorials for each specific feature/aspect of that.
Thankfully they have a Discord where you can ask questions that has people that work there, but I think they should just look back at their older tutorials and seeing if it truly teaches you the fundamentals of Vev, and if not they should redo them and make a better tutorial/series.
Maybe a video that went in depth with scaling, and just that and what kinds situations or mistakes you could run into and how you could remedy that.
Maybe a video dedicated to all the different things you can do with the Burger menu.
another thing that I would like to see more that is necessarily a negative is an inspiration page or feature for the kinds of animations you can do.
maybe I'm looking at a specific kind of animation that I can implement into valve and I wanted to know how this animation was used elsewhere so maybe I could click on an inspiration button next to that type of animation and I could go to a separate web page that would show me all the different ways it was used on other websites.
