"A Digital Experience"
What do you like best about Vev?

My favorite part of VEV is the interactive capabilities that transform reading the e-Magazine into an experience. I am excited to finally be able to add the "digital" aspect to our digital editions rather than just having a digital version of a print product for our readers to view on the screen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

The content editor is not user-friendly - the cursor doesn't always appear when you click on the copy, there isn't a good way to create a pdf for proofing, and the formatting changes randomly when you make changes. For example, if you separate one line into two, the rest of the font after it becomes really small. I have also found that there is a lag in changes - when you make changes within the editor, they do not appear immediately on the dummy link.

While I like that there are so many different options within VEV in terms of how you can animate pictures and texts and how you can have images appear in the background, etc., I wish there was some sort of template that could show us a variety of different options that we can choose from. There may be some areas of the e-magazine that would be optimized by a particular feature that VEV offers, but if we have never seen an example before, how will we ever implement the idea?

I really don't like that you have to use an external mouse in order to use the content editor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Gamechanger"
What do you like best about Vev?

Vev had given a needed refresh to our digital magazine. I like that you can make eye-catching pages, including cover pages, for the eMagazine. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

Sometimes it is tough to input text, for certain boxes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I’m not the most experienced coder, but I can make beautiful reactive sites using VEV"
What do you like best about Vev?

The layers panel is familiar to me as it's similar to various graphic design software. I also like the various animations and one click add ons. Being able to use it on any computer without installing software (and needing licenses!) is a huge plus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

I have run into bugs when trying to add new views or presets to my reactive layouts when mid project. I would also like the images popup to have more view/sorting options, perhaps one with small thumbnails and file names. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Unique platform with some growing pains"
What do you like best about Vev?

The ability to create clean visual content and then be able to export it along with all the necessary scripts and assets. This lets us deploy to any independent platform we want. For simple websites it's very efficient. Also, the editor is pretty simple and straightforward, not a very steep learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

The pricing plan for site exporting and deploying is complicated and seems far more complicated than is necessary. We've basically given up trying to understand our invoices for that part of the platform. I don't think it's worth charging for ZIP export on (basically) a per transaction basis - exports should just be a feature of the pricing plan level. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"This is a platform for people who value the design capabilities of a static site builder"
What do you like best about Vev?

It comes with many pre-built animation features that you can easily add to elements on a page. It also allows you to write the code and export the files to host the site anywhere you wish. You can place DOM elements anywhere on a page and move them around freely. The pages load pretty fast as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

You can't design a responsive page in one session. I have to constantly change a page created for a desktop screen size to make it work on mobile screens and vice versa. The platform could be a lot more intuitive to use without requiring to read their incomplete manual that doesn't cover all the possible issues one will encounter. And I can never understand why companies in Europe that cater to an international customer base don't offer 24/7 support. The last time I needed help, their response was sporadic because most of their staff were on vacation. I am all for work-life balance, but they need to have enough staff to respond when a customer needs help within a reasonable time, and in this industry, reasonable means within 2 hours, not two days. I stopped using Tilda for the same reason. A great platform is of no value if no one is there to help you when you need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Review after evaluating Ceros"
What do you like best about Vev?

The component section builds that make this feel like a real interactive website. There are also some more sophisticated animation features like scrollytelling videos and parallax/zoom options that are easy additions. The VEV publishing was also able to get setup so that we didn't have to use an EMBED in our site and all the limitations that presented... we were able to just publish direct to our site which for our team was great since it allowed us to skip a complicated and lengthy internal publishing process within our company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

Definitely some hiccups to getting things working. It took some troubleshooting for the VEV team to get some of the animations that look good in preview to translate to our particular site. Would also like to see more custom object animation control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An excellent tool"
What do you like best about Vev?

Vev's multiple perspectives on the same content is impressive and innovative. It does however present the Vev team with the challenge of making three separate experiences intuitive within the same interface, which is a huge challenge that you have done a good job at so far. I appreciate the amount of off the shelf components, and the existing tutorials and documentation. For a product that somehow feels in its infancy, I think that value is being added in the right places (I think...). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

Likely due to the complexity of creating a three perspective WYSIWYG, there is a lack of intuitive clarity for many of the controls. There are icons/buttons that are not intuitive and require hovering to know what they do. For example the bi-directional arrows that sit between two other controls imply, due to their proximity to other button icons to the left and right, that if clicked it would switch something between the other buttons, not that it does whatever it does. There are quite a few icon choices that are not as refined as they could be, and sometimes interface elements are repeated on the same screen.

I am working with the code directly within Vev and there aren't enough tutorials in this area for a smooth understanding of how to integrate things together between the Vev world, the code you write, and the ultimate scrollytelling experience in the other perspectives. "A powerful platform that allows a non-programmer to quickly spin up a web site"
What do you like best about Vev?

Unlike similar platforms that I have used, Vev has object-level shared styles that affect objects and text. A user can define different values for each screen size. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Vev?

I would like to be able to change the type color within a text box. Occassionally, the switch to mobile size creates some headaches. I tried to make a side-scrolling site, but it would not translate properly to mobile. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
