205 Scale Computing Platform Reviews
We reduced from 6 ESXi nodes plus a 3par storage system to 3 Scale nodes in a cluster. Performance has been great, and management is easy.
Implementation was easy with Luis coming on site for setup. He worked with our Network management company to get everything configured and we were up and ready for VMs within a couple hours. Luis walked me through migration using Carbonite, but I found it hit and miss. Due to us using Acronis for backup I was able to import VMs through Acronis to avoid using Carbonite / Clonezilla.
Also A+ on their support. Chat, e-mail, or call and they are responsive, informative, and thurough. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As much as I love the simplified interface sometimes it is TOO simplified. I would like access to some more info, thread/CPU/Memory/Storage usage by VM, temperatures, network load, etc.
Carbonite for the transfer of VMs was hit and miss. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The clusters are very resileint and virtually have no issues aside from your normal wear and tear of the hardware. We have infrastructure using scale that was deployed over three years ago and it has never been down. The nodes have been restarted for updates, and one was pulled to replace a failed component. But the workloads on the cluster never went down. It delivers exactly as promised. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They have some weird limitations on volume size, and had issues with TPM and secure boot once upon a time. I dont belive those are issues anymore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Scale has a very user friendly interface. We have used Scale for several years, and we have found the support to be very helpful and responsive. Works well for us and very reliable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Keeping your nodes under renewed support contracts is fairly expensive, however they do stand behind their product, and the support we have recieved has met all of our expectations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The Scale Computing platform is very easy to deploy and even easier to maintain. Customer Service is top notch. The support engineers I have worked with have been excellent and when needed the developers were quick to engage.
The functionality of the platform simplifies our Backup and Disaster Recovery processes. The platform includes the snapshot and replication fuctions dramatically reducing our costs to maintain a Disaster Recovery process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have only had one specific application that could not run within the Scale HC environment because a wierd licensing requirement. We quickly found a replacement for that application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Scale product is very simple and easy to setup and manage. The onshore support is easily accesible and quick to respond. The price is very attactive and the feature set is robust for not only small shops but enterprise too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We have been using Scale Computing for almost 10 years and have not found any disadvantage to the product. Early on there were some features that were desireable but have been included with previous updates. Scale offers all the features included with price which is great. Scalecomputing is hands down the best vendor I have ever worked with from sales to support the team is always there for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The quoting for purchasing systems is time consuming and not as quick and clean as it coul dbe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Everything has been so stable and easy to use. Support is always near by to help with anything you may need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The GUI is almost too simple you tend to overthink and question things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

very friendly Gui and great support, very cost effective Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
need more technoligal partnets to integrate with this solution Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The platform is very easy to use. It does not require expensive personel to operate. The Scale team updates the software very often and they are inclined to listen to customers about the features they would like to implement and make them readable on next releases. As with all other hyperconverged vendors, I have encountered some technical issues specific to the use of virtual machines, but in general this has not prevented the product from performing well in high-demand production environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of Use: We moved from VMware to SCALE in-part to free-up time for our system administrator. Little did we know that through the implementation of SCALE that we'd reclaim considerable time -- enough-so that our system admin was able to double his output and provide more internal support to our employees in need. This also made it possible for those with tech management functions to create and manage their own SCALE vm's.
Technologies and Features: The advanced features engineerd into SCALE had us "fully-onboard" at our first meeting (and product demonstration). We immediately recognized that the implementation of SCALE would upgrade our district's capabilities and move us into an entirely different realm of technology...setting us apart from other school districts across the nation. SCALE provided us with the ability to focus not only our most critical systems but also systems that traditionally struggled through optimization issues. The issues and concerns that would haunt us daily, went away. From our Student Information System (SIS), to HR and Accounting systems, to Bus and Routing systems, and to our many Security Systems, every facet of our school district/organization has benefited from the many process improvements.
Customer Support: SCALE knows more about what we have and how it is currently performing than we do. Their support teams are alerted if something has failed (or is about to). The SCALE system runs so efficiently that we had a drive failure and were immediately notified by SCALE Support. I suspect that we would have continued to run without any interference for weeks had not SCALE known immediately of the issue (that also complements our trust in SCALE Support and the SCALE system that we don't feel a need to regularly monitor performance levels). A new drive showed up the next morning and SCALE was quick to call and offer their assistance to removing the damaged drive and installing the new drive (a simple process that we know could be handled internally if it occurred again). SCALE Support (and our account managers) have put in significant effort to work closely with us to develop regular rotation schedules. They have removed our ability to make this assessment and replaced it with their top technical resources who are able to advise us of new(er) technologies (i.e., how we can reduce costs and cluster sizes by moving to some of their newest systems). What would have largely been "guess-work" on our side, is now very precise and gives us the ability to plan (develop a budget and assess resources) well into the future. We are spoiled at times with SCALE, due to the fact that our systems and resources on SCALE are so effective. This means we have many systems that are left out in the cold … “unworthy" of being on SCALE. Instead, this would cause older servers and legacy measures to continue running (often on VMware). In all fairness, this comes from an evaluation of cost vs. ROI (these “off-SCALE” resources still take considerable time to manage but are lower in priority to our organization (e.g., "Sandboxes"). We have been a SCALE user for the better part of nine years, and we've recently heard that enhancements in these areas could be on the horizon. Being able to "SCALE-a-size" the majority of our systems, irrespective of popularity or importance, would (yet) be another game-changer for our organization and for SCALE. If this turns out to be more rumor and fodder than truth, then this would continue to be the one area where I would like to see the SCALE platform to continue to seek improvements.
