205 Scale Computing Platform Reviews

Using scale is like a dream compared to other more complex systems. It is so easy to set a new VM and clone a template. No need for a big training to get up to speed. No need for an office expert to help you manage all your systems. Managing 60 VMs is not problem and multiple people can all have access to their part. This is truly one of those technologies that does save you time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Running Scale HC3 on our existing hardware is not available yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Scale Computing platform we ordered was shipped as a complete VMware replacement solution. Our 3 nodes replaced 6 VMware host servers and 6 NAS devices. The all flash array provides improved performance and redundancy. Migration was simple and worked for all servers except the domain controllers.
Customer support was very responsive in working out any migration issues. As well as introduction training for all the new tools and features.
After using for just over a year now, I can say the features and ease of use made this a great decision to switch from VMWare. I have also added Acronis backup solutions that backup all the VM servers on site and in the cloud. Integrating new servers on to the host is easy. Customer support is outstanding. The Carbonite package for converting VMware servers to Scale Computing VM servers worked well for all servers except domain controllers. I had to rebuild the domain controllers from scratch. Not a big deal, I just would have liked that information at the beginning of the migration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What a breath of fresh air coming from a VMWare environment - now I have instant snapshots, really fast VM replication and no datastores to manage because Scale manages them for me. One big memory and data storage pool to provision from, all thin provisioned - and the SSD tiering all completely automatic. You just set it and forget it. The Management GUI is so simple my Mum could use it. The Support is exceptionally good. The API integration is fantastic. The implementation and VM migration was amazing and simple - we used Acronis to do the migrations, how good is that. UEFI/TPM and Windows 11 - all covered. We use Scale every day and we are very pleased we made the switch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have not found any downside as yet - after 4 years it just works, not one glitch or failure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Scale Computing servers are reliable, fast, and easy to manage.
They also have a good support team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Even though servers are easy to manage, I think that the management interface could be more intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of use. Easier to build new VM's, and restore from snpashots when required. I had to restore one of our VM Servers, and within 3 clicks we had restored the server and had it up and running within a minute. It was such a relief and definitely helps to reduce stress. The system was easy to implement and to migrate existing VM's was easy as well. Integrating into our environment was simple and easy and prepping the network was a breeze. The use frequently, as the best part of this system is mostly set it and forget it unless you have to create a new VM. When I reach out to customer support, they are super firendly and really know their stuff. I have yet to have a bad experience with their agents. 2005 - We are in the process of upgrading and expanding out SCALE// Environment. We will be moving out exiting cluster to make it a 4 DR node Cluster instead of 1 and Installing a 4 Node cluster to run our ever growing environment!!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
To be completely honest and transparent, the only issue I have is that you cant set a VM to run automatically upon powering up, especially after a power outage. It would be nice if this could be stup like with Microsoft Hyper-V. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Scale Computing Platform is seamless and straightforward to use for IT administrators. It was relatively easy to implement the Scale nodes for the first time as Scale support technicians are very knowledgeable and willing to help. The remote connection tool built into the HyperCore System is very cool as it allows multiple users to view the remote display at the same time. Lastly, when receiving remote support, it is really easy as there is a remote connection tool the support technicians can use with your permission to connect to the server nodes in question. Everything has been great with Scale except for one instance where we had a drive fail after around 6 months of using the Scale nodes, which is a bit concerning. The support around this was exceptional, however, as we received a replacement drive with expedited shipping free of charge. There was no data lost as the drives run with redundancy. The support is top notch. Working with support has been great. They are very responsive and will get you answers ASAP. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
With simplicity of Scale Computing cluster's and other system comes vendor lock in. It can be restrictive if you already have other virtualized infrastructure it may be difficult to integrate both vendors. With that being said if you don't already have the infrastructure in place or you want to completely move into something new Scale computing 3 node clusters can't be beat. They fill the extremely large market hole of Small business VM needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love how simple it is to set up and manage. We don't need a lot of features, bells and whistles that we'll never use. Affordably priced as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
we have had some bumps in getting started. Wrong nodes were built but Scale caught it before shipping. Had what we thought was a bad hard drive but turned out to be a bad controller. Support sent out a new unit pretty quick so all is good. I'm a little concerned about microservers quality of hardware but time will tell. The only thing I really dislike is console access in VM's. It's not as good as VMware remote web access. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The small Electric Cooperative I work for would not be able to function on the level we do without our Scale system. It has become invaluable. I love how user friendly the interface is. I have had little to no issues using our Scale system to grow our company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I haven't seen any yet honestly. Once the system is in place, it has been easy to use, and any trouble I have had was quickly resolved by the support team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Besides the manufacturing delay. Set up and schduling for online support to onboard the cluster was great. HC3 interface is simplistic to use compared to VMware Vcenter .
Spinning up VM was flawless comapred to Vmware or Virtual box Able to see metrics in Fleetmanger was good but could use more details and better graphs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Idid notice their documentation neeeds to be updated. Thier netowrking guide needs to be based on current switches and Cisco Model. Fleet manager and HC3 Node login needs multiple MFA support beside Okata. DUO or Microsoft Azure MFA app needs to be included. Able to do bare metal and VM backups without snapshots to NAS or Azure or Google Cloud could improve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
