PhpStorm is a very good editor, I can definitely recommend it. Edited for a long time with PhpStorm, but also with his brothers from Jetbrains; Pycharm and Intellij. They are all top products that make your life much better.
As for PhpStorm, the debugger and good integration with XDebug is a huge plus. Putting a simple breakpoint in your code all makes as much as possible. In addition, PhpStorm also does a lot in the background. Such as highlighting code that is broken by definition, improvements for syntax and automagic import of namcespaces. Finally, it also has a lot of extra functionalities, such as a database client.
The only thing I don't like working so much are front-end things like Angular and React. For this I like to switch back to VSCode for the IntelliSense of TypeScript and JavaScript. It is possible in PhpStorm, but it is not my favorite. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The console. If you try to intall a npm package and try to paste it in the console it acts weird Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
All: completition, automation, error highlights, Quality checks ... all that you can dream.
You can install plugins to face all the completition - code generation - code navigation of the main framework in the industry: it be symfony, laravel, yii, PhpStorm have you covered.
You can debug your code very easily in PHPStorm, even if you use Docker or other container based systems: PhpStorm comes with containers handling capabilities that makes set up, start, stop and using containers a breeze.
Ah forgot: do you have html or css or js in your project as well and not only php? Even there, PhpStorm is ready to assist you: you'll have checkers and autocompletition for those too.

Nothing really ... but one thing that can be misleading is the "shelve" feature that is the same as Stash in GIT Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PHPStorm extended code formatting structure is ready to help you format your code, perform unit tests or provide visual debugging. It provides a rich code editor and code completion features. In addition, PhpStorm offers an excellent suggestion to help you understand the operation of the application at every step.
It works well with large frameworks like PHPStorm, Symfony, Zend Framework, Yii, CakePHP, Laravel and important CMS systems like Drupal, Magento and WordPress. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only and biggest drawback is that it is paid, unlike its biggest competitors. There is a free version for students, universities and many institutions, but for companies it is bad. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PhpStorm is my first choice when it comes to developing a PHP Web application. All the major PHP frameworks are supported in Phpstorm such as Laravel, CodeIgnitor, Symphony, CakePHP, Wordpress, and Magento. PHPstorm is the advanced version of Webstorm with support of PHP and Database. Its refactor feature helps in safely renaming, editing and deleting a file in the project. With PHPStorm we can build powerful web applications and API and work with remote projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PHPStorm is a very heavy IDE and has a very slow startup time. It reduces our system performance while working on a heavy project or file. I have personally experienced this issue on my mac system while working with a heavy javascript file. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PHPstorm is our first choice when it comes to developing a large PHP web application as it supports almost every PHP framework like Symphony, Laravel, Drupal, Magento, and Zend framework. Once the project is created it deeply scan our project for all dependencies and understand its structures. PHPStorm even supports all major frontend technologies likes HTML, CSS, Javascript, Jquery, SASS, LESS, Vue, Typescript and many more. Another feature of PHPStorm is the Live edit feature that helps in seeing the changes instantly in the browser. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing I dislike about PHPStorm is that whenever there is an update for Mac PHPStorm we have to download it externally and install it again. Another disadvantage is that while working on a large project or heavy file the system slows down and makes it impossible for us to do other work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Toolbox App I can download update downgrade the app in ease.

When working with big projects it can get laggy. For example, we use Magento 2 at work and at some point it lags and completely shuts down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
PhpStorm is one of the best IDEs for PHP development thanks to smart code completion, code refactoring and parameter hints. I also like that it includes an automatic save feature. Also, it is possible to import or export the settings made to PhpStorm, which is great if you install the software on another computer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have no cons with PhpStorm. It is probably the most complete and smart development environment you have ever used. I am really satisfied. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
