It works. I need a simple chat widget to communicate with visitors to my site. For that purpose, it works pretty well. I can access it from my browser and the mobile app, and it supports push notifications, so I don't miss any conversations.

The Gist team added too many features in recent years that aren't directly related to chat. The bots and automation part is nice, but I don't use it since my business isn't big enough to support and maintain automation.
When you don't respond in time, you receive a notification email telling you there's a conversation. If you don't go through the links inside the notificaitons, at some point, Gist will decide to automatically stop sending you notifications via email which isn't fun - it doesn't even tell you about it. I love the chat bubble feature the most. It's an invaluable tool for my business, because it enables me to give great personalised customer service, by connecting with my website visitors in real-time. It allows me to understand why they came to my site, what the most popular articles they are searching for on my site, and it helps me to nurture them, build a relationship with them, and get them to subscribe to my social media and buy my products. I don't currently have workflows publishing for most of my workspaces, and that's the only thing that is holding me back from being fully successful with the platform, as I really need this feature. Limitations on contacts, emails etc. I believe to stand out from the crowd these guys should offer everything unlimited. Trust me only 0.5% people will truly use your unlimited resources. The UI and UX of Gist makes it one of the better helpdesk platforms I've used. I've found that there is usually a trade-off or compromise when it comes to features and ease of use, but Gist marries the two wonderfully.
It integrates wonderfully with the rest of my stack and is extremely easy to deploy to sites.

The only thing I dislike is that without spending more on the product, I miss out on features like Webhooks. Fortunately there is still access to the API, but many tools I use rely on Webhooks, so that missing functionality (for me - given my plan) is a bit of a downer, but I would say that's the only gripe I have with the system. The automated and personalized chat prompt that goes out on behalf of our Executive to a newly signed-up customer has been the most rewarding. Customers immediately come to know that if they are stuck at some point with our product, they can reach out to our Executives. It's very customizable as well. We can show the prompt to a selected set of users only (in our case, the Admins). We can show the prompt when the user has been on a specific page for too long etc.
Apart from this, we use the Post Messages as announcements for feature releases, upcoming events, etc., which helps us keep our customers engaged. We also use the workflows from Gist to periodic Marketing Emails to our customers.

Nothing much. The mobile app's performance can be slightly improved. And if the rule-based events can be made more advanced, for example, instead of writing "Users who performed an action in last X days", if we could write "Users who performed an action in last Y minutes", it will become much more powerful, and we will be able to utilize it even more. One of the best features we like to use is the Chat Feature.

My questions and concerns quickly answered either immediately or within 2 business days. I was in the beta group so was able to acquire a lifetime license for one low cost. They are continually improving their product. It is an all in one product and right now is providing me with more features than I am currently using but inspires me to explore more ways I can reach my audience. My biggest complaint is that as a lifetime member there are new features for which I am denied access. As a bera member I would have hoped I'd continue to receive full access to all new features. Gist is a good for our sales department with its email marketing tools, workflows and more. It is also our main support service thanks to its chat, meetings and more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They don't have a good support service; they reply every 24 hours or more, which I think is too much for a live chat service. On the other hand, they restrict functions without previously notifying the client and without providing any detail about the incident.
