Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) Overview

What is Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale a relational database in the cloud. It provides cost-efficient and resizable capacity while managing time-consuming database administration tasks such as hardware provisioning, database setup, patching and backups. It frees you up to focus on your apps so you can give them the better performance, availability, security, and compatibility they need. Amazon RDS is available on 6 familiar database instances: Amazon Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Oracle Database and SQL Server engines. This means that the code, applications, and tools you already use today with your existing databases can be used with Amazon RDS. Amazon RDS automatically patches the database software and backs up your database, storing the backups for a user-defined retention period and enabling point-in-time recovery. You benefit from the flexibility of being able to scale the compute resources or storage capacity associated with your relational database instance via a single API call. In addition, Amazon RDS makes it easy to use replication to enhance availability and reliability for production databases. Amazon RDS for MySQL also enables you to scale out beyond the capacity of a single database deployment for read-heavy database workloads. As with all Amazon Web Services, there are no up-front investments required, and you pay only for the resources you use.

"My best Cloud service provider"
What do you like best about AWS Cloud?

I've been a cloud engineer for a year and continue working on AWS as my cloud service provider. One of the best things that I like about AWS is:

1: its easy-to-use UI and one of the best features is its services; AWS provides almost every product and software engineering service.

2:one thing I would like to highlight at the end is its cost is significantly less as compared to other service providers.

3: AWS has more compliance certifications and security-related services than others.

4:AWS has rich documentation and support, making it easy for users to get started and troubleshoot any issues. AWS offers a range of support plans, including 24/7 support for critical issues of its users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Cloud?

1:AWS offers per-hour billing, and the data transmission format is generally encrypted in the case of its competitor; I sometimes feel insecure.

2:One more thing I dislike about AWS takes 15-20 mins to spin up a simple website.

3:AWS is a proprietary platform; once an application is built on AWS, it can be challenging to migrate to another cloud platform, which may limit users' flexibility and increase costs in the long run. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A highly reliable web service which makes easier to set up a relational database in aws cloud"
What do you like best about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

Amazon RDS is a manageable relation database service that we can use with Postgres, Oracle,Mysql, AmazonAuroraMysql, etc. It is highly scalable, i.e., we can scale compute and memory resources powering your deployment up or down; the service is cost-effective and provides a lower administrative burden. We can use the database in serverless way. It has the feature of automated backups, Database snapshots, multi-az deployments, etc. It is highly secure and reliable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

Amazon RDS does not support SQLServer analysis, Integration, Reporting, or Data quality services. Compared to other cloud service providers, its cost is expensive to maintain. Making AWS Aurora accessible from localhost. There is no direct access to the underlying servers, so that OS-level tweaks may be out of bounds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
