The oft-advanced notion that the advantages of NX are mainly about "free-form stuff" is false. Even if you're primarily doing work involving traditional machined parts (as I do), the toolset in NX allows for faster workflows both in concept and in production design. Equally importantly, the toolset in NX enables quick accommodation and steering of late-breaking concept and scope changes, which is a great factor regarding client satisfaction (and thus repeat business). ZWCAD pleasantly surprised me. It is incredibly lightweight, quick to open files, and very easy to adapt to, especially for those who have used other CAD programs. The interface is intuitive and the transition was almost immediate, without the need to relearn everything from scratch. I am amazed at how ZWCAD manages to be far superior to Autodesk's CAD. I’ve been using Onshape for over six years and have logged more than 2,000 hours in the platform—and it still impresses me. The interface is clean and intuitive, and the feature set is powerful enough to handle complex design work without feeling overwhelming.
What really sets Onshape apart is its collaborative workflow. Real-time sharing, version control, and branching make working with others seamless, whether you're in the same room or halfway around the world. One feature I especially appreciate is Follow Mode—being able to follow someone’s cursor as they work through a model makes collaboration and review incredibly efficient. It’s the next best thing to sitting side-by-side. As First Robotics Mentor, this feature allows me to follow my students' work in real-time and recognise where they are struggling to better support them on their way to becoming Onshape masters. General CAD design
Prompt replies to enquiries, courteous and helpful replies and I think a general appreciation of customers in general.
I would praise Joe for his understanding and diligence during what was for me a difficult period following a complete system loss. Customer care for me is about solving issues in a constructive and friendly manner. Well done.
CMS software is very very good value and on a cost/licence/usablity basis it is excellent and if you can use Autocad it is a straight forward product to use and downloading and pruchasing the item is simple once you get it clear in your mind which model of whichever version of the software you are looking at and wish to buy.
The software is very easy to install and set up for your personal requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The other people that I work with use SolidWorks which is way more than what I need. I was using AutoCAD every day to accomplish my 2D projects. The fact that it works with AutoCAD files is definitely a plus.
I myself have not had the need to contact Customer Service but others at my office have and expressed that it was a nice experience. They were treated like a person and things were explained so that they could understand.
It was easy to get started using DraftSight since it was similar to AutoCAD. This saves a lot of time from having to completely learn something new. The layout is simple and easy to use. With using DraftSight every day, it is really nice that it integrated with my current way I work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Inventor® 3D CAD software offers an easy-to-use set of tools for 3D mechanical design, documentation, and product simulation.

Inventor is my go-to tool for machine design; From design accelators, frame generators and analysis, to design automation with ilogic features , and dynamic event simulation with a powerful solver etc.
Inventor's featuers are very mature in terms of capacity, and can handle data of so many kinds e.g it BOM, driving configuration with parameter etc.
Inventor also integrates perfectly with PDM tools like Autodesk Vault for administrative purposes, design data managment, file control, to mention a few.
Many other solutions can be integarted with inventor, making it possible to author, validate, fabricate and test your design e.g Inventor Nastran, Inventor Nesting, Factory design utilities, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I love the simple and easy to use interface. It makes drawings and design 100 times easier. The brush selection rivals photoshop. I love that it's not subscription based and does most if not all of what Photoshop does. You pay one small fee and it's yours for life. It's a great option if you're tired of Adobe's subscription fees. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Altium Designer bridges all facets of the PCB design process to keep you seamlessly connected to every aspect of your design at all times.
Also listed in General-Purpose CAD
The MCAD CoDesigner functionality has been very useful for integrating PCB designs into our mechanical 3D models in AutoDesk Inventor, and was a big reason we moved to Altium. The 3D views are very useful within Altium and creating PCB footprints and adding existing STEP files available from many component manufacturers is easy. The OutJob functionality is useful in exporting files.
The Draftsman documents are very powerful and have saved a significant amount of time in creating and updating production documentation. The layout capability works very well with a lot of configurability.
The ActiveBOM functionality is useful is checking part status and availability and for rolling up BOM cost.
Overall, Altium was an enormous leap from Mentor Graphics PADS (which I used for the previous 15 years), although now there are a number of other alternatives, including at least one open-source alternative that also has impressive capability (I have not explored these in detail).
Electronic design (schematic capture and layout) only makes up 10% of my working hours according to my time logging (among mechanical design, project planning, as well as customer, sales, and production support), but I am quite productive in Altium compared to my previous workflow. If this was my primary job function, I would be even more comfortable in the software as it is certainly designed with the "power user" in mind, but there are many things I don't remember or haven't needed. IronCAD's mission has and continues to be the creation of award winning 3D Design Collaboration Solutions that lead the industry in their ease-of-use and design productivity.
Also listed in CAD Viewers, Simulation & CAE, General-Purpose CAD, 3D Modeling
IronCAD has several ways of doing the same thing so it is super easy to learn even for people with no previous CAD experience. Power users can when needed use the same technique as in the competitor's programs so it's not limited to just one way of working. I have stayed with IronCAD for 23 years and I have seen over the years how the competitors mimic things that have always been possible in IronCAD.
It can do everything we need at our company, including the creation of advanced corrugated boxes with correct consideration of inside loss and more.
We have also started using it for design of thermo formed trays and it works quite well. There is some improvements needed in this area but IronCAD is working hard to create those improvements.
The programming API is well developed and we have created a large number of plugins ourselves. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Altium 365 was designed to understand the details within every design - making the organization of your projects smarter and the searchability of your designs easy.
Also listed in Product Data Management (PDM), Mechanical Computer-aided Design (MCAD)
My personal favorite aspect of Altium 365 is the way it incorporates cloud collaboration so seamlessly into the PCB design experience. It allows engineers, designers, and stakeholders to work together in real-time, no matter where they are in the world. It's especially helpful when working in a group or needing immediate feedback from clients or manufacturers. Being able to publish a live view of your design using a simple web link is a game-changer. This means individuals who don't have Altium Designer can still look at schematics, layouts, 3D models, and even comment on the design — all within a browser.
One other aspect that impresses is the version control system. Altium 365 controls revisions automatically, so comparing versions, rolling back when needed, and avoiding expensive mistakes is simple. This gives a great deal of confidence when collaborating on complex projects with several stakeholders.
The centralized part management is also so useful. You can share a common part library among teams, with less likelihood of using old or incorrect components. It keeps things consistent and also saves lots of time in the design process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
