Wave is a great low-cost alternative to more expensive software packages like Quickbooks, with the same functionality. Add ons make it a robust package without breaking the bank. It allows me to do most of the things I need without needing to be in front of a computer (it is mobile-friendly) and pass off the quarterly and payroll items to my accountant without losing control. It took a while for my accountant to figure out how to best work with Wave - he was so used to Quickbooks. I dislike that they remove a dedicated app for reciept management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Straightforward and clear accounting software has many valuable features continuously updated with new options. excellent free options that can cover the needs of most people Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The website sometimes freezes when the connection is not very stable; you have to repeat the action more than once for it to go through. Not a lot of integration features are available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's one of the more affordable options out there, and if you use it out of the box, there is not a lot of complexity to it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The customer support experience is really poor. They don't always respond to your emails even though they promise a 2-business day response time. Customer support chat is the only other option, but it can be a long wait and the agents like to disconnect you if you don't respond or they have a whiff of you being away from the keyboard for a minute. There is no call support option.
If your company needs to do anything custom like adjust statutory holidays (e.g. following provincial instead of federal stat holidays), then you're out of luck and will need to make many complex manual adjustments. The documentation around this is lacking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The fact that it does everything Quickbooks does (and more) and is FREE. I've used Quickbooks for 15 years, and I started having a lot of issues with the software and their customer service. I tried Wave out a couple of years ago but ended up going back to QB for their mobile app. However, QB started taking features away from the app, so I saw no reason to keep paying so much money for something when Wave does it all for free. And when it comes to the payment processing fees, those are very competitive and better than QB, too. Overall I'm saving hundreds of dollars per month between all of my companies using Wave, and yet I'm not missing any features at all; in fact, I've gained features such as easily switching between companies in the same window without signing out and back in. Their customer service has always been great as well. Just overall, a much, much better experience, and I am very happy I made the switch to Wave. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The lack of a fully functioning mobile app. I don't do that much on mobile anyway, and what I do need mobile for they do have good apps for that, such as checking invoices. But it would be great to have a fully functioning app though I'm sure that's coming. The other thing is categorizing transactions is a little weird sometimes. For example, categorizing transfers took some getting used to, but that really isn't a big deal. Overall, I can't think of anything I truly dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Simple to use; invoicing, reports and recording all in one place Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some things were a little tricky to understand so maybe a detailed tutorial would have been helpful Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Online/cloud-based accounting - Use it anywhere! Pricing is unbeatable, really, and features are added almost monthly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Need more forms print tools, such as packing slips/pick lists, inventory management sheets, and CRM reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I was using excel to create invoices and it was getting difficult for me to manage over excel hence start searching for a free invoicing tool and found Wave Accounting. I set it up in less than an hour and started creating invoices, it was very easy to set up and work on it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I used it for a couple of months and then got an email from their team that they are going to stop their operations in some of the countries like India and Japan so I needed to move to Zoho Books. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's easy to generate estimates for your clients and easily convert these estimates into invoice. The best part is, the software does all accounting entries for you. I am able to track my outstanding invoices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Wave is a great app I must say. Ever since I started using Wave, I have not experienced any difficulties or challenges. The app is seamless and I love the mobile (android app) version. One dislike, however, is that the mobile app doesn't allow users to create estimates. It only allows us to create invoices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of my favorite income-producing activities with Wave is turning on the recurring invoice feature for clients who opt for booking my media and creative business growth services by annual retainer. In one task, Wave takes care of the payment processing long-term. Yay! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I do wish that I could fully utilize the payroll feature on Wave; however, Michigan is a self-service state at this time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Sadly back in 2020 Wave stopped supporting live bank feeds in the UK which forced me to move to a new provider Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
