What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?

The ability to track software allocations based on our governance, i.e. who/what we approved to use the software, and then so easily audit that with supporting data about what is in use has made this more than just a SAM tool but also a security tool. The rebuild SaaS license connectors to monitor cloud usage has made other tools obsolete and we can focus more within ServiceNow! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?

SAMP has a complex architecture. Customer Support has no idea how to help support it. The documentation portal is to complex to navigate and find the specific answers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is ServiceNow IT Asset Management solving and how is that benefiting you?

We had millions of dollars worth of software that we weren't tracking and was just a large financial risk. Now we have saved $400,000 just in reclaimed licenses with the reclamation processes. For the first time in 20 years, when our microsoft audit occurred, their audit data matched the data we have in ServiceNow and we had $0 is NEW cost due to non-compliance. What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?

When you get to a certain size, it's ServiceNow or suffer. ITAM is a great product that can bring tremendous value...to those that understand ITAM, it's idiosyncrasies, challenges and benefits Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?

ServiceNow has the same problem of any ITAM solution and can't solve the basic data management, data governance problems that plague all other products. The people/process/ownership issue. Also, can you PLEASE....PLEASE release a DMTF Common information Model style schema that defines what every field/attribute is supposed to be used for?? That's what the industry has been dying for and Now have not risen to the occasion with this basic request. :-)

I'll even make it easy for you here's the HTML version of the schema to give you an idea:

What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?

Since we started implementing Software Asset Management in our organization, we have been able to better manage our software licenses and contracts and realize the amount of duplication and waste we can eliminate by looking at where the software is being used. With all the new efforts to root out waste in the government, this product allows us to better communicate how we are contributing to these efforts. Thanks to the new features that have been added to this product, we have significantly reduced the amount of time it takes to enter data by leveraging multiple integrations with our other systems while, at the same time, reducing the possibility of errors from manually updating data. What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?

What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?

The ease of managing stock of our consumables has been the biggest saver of our day to day. It has enabled us to easily track what stock we have of what item and order more when we are low. Discovery has also been incredibly helpful in eliminating human effort and error in tracking where our assets are and who has them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?

One thing that is a little cumbersome is that there is not an easy way to mark laptops as in stock when they have been returned. We are early in our asset management journey and Im hopeful that AI Agents will help with this as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about ServiceNow IT Asset Management?

It does normalize quite a bit of what is discovered, and does the calculations based on entered entitlements. Also it’s easy to integrate SAM to the rest of processes handled in ServiceNow. It is a bit tricky to set exclusions, define bundles, find and normalise software which did not get picked up by the ServiceNow content library. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Once set up, it helps seeing which products we are compliant with and which ones we are not. If you have the Entitlement data in the system, it also helps you determine which vendors to prioritise on. The many Modules that can be used to incorporate our assets into the platform. Makes organizing and keeping track of our inventory almost seamless after they are scanned into the system from a management standpoint. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The new Workspace is flashy but not as easy for users to learn when they are so used to core tables. Upgrading a new UI while retaining function would be cool! A cool improvement would be a view kinda like Service Catalog that showed you what you have in inventory (count, image, buy from vendor button or something) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
