"Best PHP IDE"

What do you like best about PhpStorm?

The code writing features like code insight and autocomplete. I also really like the easy to use diff viewer (right click on file and select sync with). The php debugger works like a charm. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhpStorm?

The configuration is sometimes overwhelming, because there are so many options. There is no assistant for configuring the debugger. This was a killer feature in PhpED. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The Definitive way to develop in PHP"

What do you like best about PhpStorm?

What do you like best about PhpStorm?

JetBrains has a great pluggable architecture for all its products. This makes it easy for me to augment PhpStorm to provide the functionality I require. My absolutely favorite feature however, is the debugger. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhpStorm?

I use PhpStorm for Drupal development. Anyone who has worked with the Drupal API before will be familiar with the ubiquity of associative arrays. They are used in pretty much every hook. While PhpStorm autocompletion does a nice job of navigating native PHP code, there is no support for auto complete of the string literals within the associative arrays. As of right now, there are no third-party plugins available to add this functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:

PhpStorm is like a new pair of sneakers when you first get it. Bright, new, and exciting. You start using it and, like new sneakers, it gets a little painful. There are so many features and configurations that it can be overwhelming. But if you remain patient and take it one step at a time, you will be VERY glad you stuck with it. What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about PhpStorm?

We've solved the initial learning curve and complications of having new developers setting up their IDE, and having variations between developers individual configurations as we can export a setup, and import it into every new installation of the IDE when a new developer joins. "PHPStorm made me an IDE convert"

What do you like best about PhpStorm?

I was a curmudgeonly developer who expected that vim would be carved somewhere on my gravestone until I started using PhpStorm. PhpStorm has greatly improved my workflow and productivity, streamlining many tabs/terminal sessions and multiple applications. Project organization, easy file switching, global search, and in particular integration with git are now essential to my work. It's also highly extensible and configurable, and so I've made the environment fit me nearly perfectly.

As much as I miss hitting the escape key a thousand times a day, I'll never go back. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhpStorm?

Hard for me to find too much to dislike about PhpStorm. I do dabble with some python code, and since the makers of PhpStorm also make and license PyCharm, there's no support for working with python inside PhpStorm. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
