"Simply the best"

What do you like best about PhpStorm?

For me, PHP Storm has always led the race in PHP IDE's. It has the largest feature set and the most integrations that I've seen, and is regularly updated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhpStorm?

Since it's written in Java, it can be quite the memory hog. While expected, it is somewhat annoying at times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is PhpStorm solving and how is that benefiting you?

"Great IDE and not only for PHP"

What do you like best about PhpStorm?

PHPStorm has a really large set of plugins and integrations. I really don't use any other tools for database connections, remote control, FTP or SHH. It is all integrated by default.

Even when it comes to pure Javascript or some client-side MVC framework like Angular, you can easily find a plugin that helps a lot.

I really favor the Live Template feature, TODO lists, and version control but there probably a dozen features that I have not discovered yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PhpStorm?

It's slow for quick edits! It really takes a while to get ready.

There are some really great open-source alternatives on the market so the pricing could be a lower.

Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:

If Sublime Text satisfy all your needs, use it. But The real full-feature IDE for PHP is PHPStorm. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PhpStorm?

It has a huge repository of plugins that cover mostly anything you need with web development in general, not only PHP. Very good support for Javascript as well. Decent search capabilities. Built-in options for client side debugging. It has integration with git, and JIRA (with plugins), and it can help switching between JIRA issues/tasks, git branches and tracking time. What do you dislike about PhpStorm?

It requires a lot of resources, so a fairly powerful machine with lots of RAM is necessary to run this IDE. If you need more than one instance of the application at once, you'll hear the fan of your computer struggling to keep it cold. Even with a powerful machine, sometimes with big projects there's a bit of lag when using some advanced features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering PhpStorm:

There are lighter IDEs out there, which are free. If you go for PhpStorm (which is WebStorm with PHP support), keep in mind that it uses a lot of resources, specially RAM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
