We face some issues only when updating the version of Magento 1 to Magento 2. So when I need to update a version on a regular interval, a major problem is faced in business websites. Maintenance cost is higher in comparison to other development tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
One of the best and most helpful things with Magento is the fact that it is available as an open-source. This makes it very much easy to create our very own eCommerce store online Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly, I do not have any major dislike with Magento Open Source. It has enabled me to create our own eCommerce store and also integrating this with other software like a PIM is also super easy Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Magento is a very robust system with almost everything you need right out of the box. In newer versions of magento it does add a random string to the end of the admin url which makes brute force attacks to get into the admin panel more difficult if not impossible. While it is robust, it is almost too robust. The system runs extremely slowly, even on our high-performance webserver. Another big issue was with the database. Product information is stored across 50-100 tables which makes querying for a product very slow. The only way around this is to merge your products into a "flat" table that does not bring all the information under one table. Instead of 50-100 tables, you're looking at 25-50 tables. There are a number of reasons why I like Magento -
1. Quick and easy setup: The setup and installation are so easy as compared to some other eCommerce platforms.
2. SEO Friendly: Magento is up to date with the latest ranking factors.
3. 3rd party integrations: This gives more customization options to Magento. It allows every store to be highly customizable.
4. Faster page loading time: Magento’s platform makes the page load times down, even when there is a massive influx of load.
5. Elastic search: Magento provides an integrated elastic search feature that makes it very easy for large product catalogs to be set up and handled optimally.
6. Powerful and scalable: It can support up to 500,000 products on one single website, and it can handle more than 80,000 orders per hour
7. Security Permissions: One can keep the website safe and manage internal access with options to customize multiple levels of security permissions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
On one side there are a lot of features, but it comes with some limitations as well. Some of the limitations are -
1. Limitations for store owners to make changes as the full access is with the developers by Magento.
2. One more problem is its high pricing for the enterprise edition.
3. Although it provides lesser page load time by default, but, in case it is on shared hosting, it is possible that it results in slow speed and causes a frustrating customer experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
