What do you like best about IBM Db2?

We are using DB2 to host huge financial data and create Tableau reports and dashboards out of it for data analysis. The performance have been very good Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about IBM Db2?

IBM db2 is a very complete, fast and versatile database option, there are many reasons why I choose IBM db2 as my database. Whether for its great versatility when running on a wide variety of operating systems, such as window, mac, Linux, etc.

Another point in favor of IBM db2 is its security and data management. In general, it is an excellent, easy-to-use, high-performance, scalable and flexible SQL engine for big-data, with advanced data query functions and much more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM Db2?

IBM db2 was my main option as a database, but after a while, I saw many disadvantages that make me think about replacing it.

-Conversions between databases become tedious at times.

-Technical support takes time to respond.

-The price is a bit high compared to other database software.

What do you like best about IBM Db2?

I started my career on Mainframe technologies and for database was DB2. Initially I was bit reluctant to learn and felt little cumbersome as we are more comfortable with GUI/ UI interfaces. It was black and white screen with CUI interface. But our product was insurance and very complex one with huge data in it. Whenever we fired any SQL command expectation was to return almost immediately. And to process the batch jobs, security features. So eventually when I realized those points I started lovin DB2. And those products were developed 40-50 years back and that time DB2 was very popular. Amazingly today also it is working without any issue.

What do you dislike about IBM Db2?

May be the interface, installation, maintenance cost and process. It was not very fancy. Menus were to give command by interning the options. No usage of mouse. Again I think that is not the limitation of the RDBMS (DB2). DB2 point of view may be many commands are not there if we compare with today's Oracle one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
