"Strong points and weak points IBM Db2"

What do you like best about IBM Db2?

DB2 is a robust database and is supported by a large company like IBM. The positive points are: reliability, excellent transaction control and high availability. The database that is used by the manager has the database recovery option enabled, by default. This allows recovery of the database in the event of a system failure. By enabling the recovery option, DB2 will generate transaction logs and save them to a DB2 system directory. Over time, these logs will increase in size. The recommended way to free up space is to use the DB2 userexit function, as described in the DB2 Administration Guide. Another way to free up space on the file system is to move the inactive logs to another file system. This method is described below. What do you dislike about IBM Db2?

DB2 should not be used for small projects and companies with little infrastructure. Another negative point would be the "weight" in the servers. Relational database of the giant IBM, DB2 does not have such a large share of the market, although it is quite robust and executable on several platforms. Used for large systems, it is optimized to work with the manufacturer's own hardware. Probably, licensing issues and business models established for it have disadvantaged its spread in recent years. What problems is IBM Db2 solving and how is that benefiting you?

I used DB2 in a project for the financial area, in which I needed high availability and reliability in transactions. Relational database of the giant IBM, DB2 does not have such a large share of the market, although it is quite robust and executable on several platforms. Used for large systems, it is optimized to work with the manufacturer's own hardware. Probably, licensing issues and business models established for it have disadvantaged its spread in recent years. What do you like best about IBM Db2?

Great integration with all IBM product family, but i can't find documentation on the internet to face any problem during the development of any solution, DB2 distributes and remembers the location of each track where the information is located. In the context of a long database, this partitioning system makes administration much easier to manage than a non-partitioned database of the same size, it is very strong database for high availabilty system or web applications, it security system is quite robust but this is more secure Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Little information and documentation to face any problem

The hardware used influences the choice

In large systems the most used base is DB2 since it runs on different operating platforms, but in reality, in most cases the decision to opt for software of this nature is a corporate one.

Price is quite high when compared with other databases. Db2 don't provide user friendly and easier GUI to manage the database, db2 should take this into account and improve the tools to manage the database, they could take features from their competitors Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It allows for very fast querying when volume of data is large.

Easy to use, simple SQL commands.

What do you dislike about IBM Db2?

A Bit archaic, usually run on Mochasoft.

Although IDEs with better interfaces are available they can be very expensive, so most mainframe projects use old Terminals which require knowledge of mainframe technologies which isn't efficient.

Example, using F7 and F8 just to scroll up and down significantly decreases efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Use only if the volume of data is huge, otherwise stick to others as learning and using mainframe technology can be challenging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is IBM Db2 solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about IBM Db2?

The best part of it as I mentioned in it's title is, I can use it in AI ans Machine learning from it's version 11.5 which is quite useful for me.
