"Source Code Handling And Team Collaboration With Team Foundation Server."

What do you like best about Azure DevOps Server?

Team foundation server is a best tool to provide source code management and handling with great team collaboration features and it covers the entire application life cycle. Team foundation server is equipped with builtin reporting, requirements gathering (management) , build, Application testing and release management apart from the source code handling and source code management.Ease of use and simple steps one can create new project and new sites easily and can manage the security of source code and authorization using Active directory services very easily. What do you dislike about Azure DevOps Server?

Initially we have to download support packs and installers and that is the worst part while deployment of Team foundation server. As every now and then it failed to download and we have to start it from the scratch. Offline installer pack is also available and to install it we have to have hands on command prompt and run few power shell scripts. Rather than looping in the inexperience deployment vendor i should study and deploy the product by myself as it will save a lot of time, i think so the vendor that we opt for deployment have very limited expertise. What problems is Azure DevOps Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

We don't have source code on a centralized manner, it is scattered and every developer have their own set of project version and none of them were on the same version. What do you like best about Azure DevOps Server?

You can configure to a large degree the datapoints, organize tickets into iterations (or sprints or whatever you would like to call groups of tickets), there are lots of metadata capture points so that tickets can be organized and tracked. There is robust search functionality. You can assign tickets to various users, including have a dev owner, qa owner, etc. Users can create their own queries to track work and tickets.You can also receive notifications via email if a ticket is assigned to you, or a ticket to which you're assigned is edited. So between the notifications, but mainly queries, there are several ways for an individual contributor as well as manager to track the status of tickets. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Azure DevOps Server?

If two people are editing a ticket at the same time, this can cause issues, as you might spend 10 minutes entering or updating the information only to find out it has already been updated by someone else. Like SharePoint, Microsoft hasn't figure out a good way to allow for simultaneous editing of content.

In this case, you'd need to open the ticket in another window and manually copy and paste over information that might still need to be updated. Also, when entering data on a ticket, you can paste rich text, but there is no way to edit or clear rich text. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

During the time we used this product, the life cycle of application was changed. We have tried to minimize its impact on this product during changes. I believe the use of the product should restart when ALM completely changes, which eliminates waste processes that users continue to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Azure DevOps Server solving and how is that benefiting you?

For project space and task management we are keen to use TFS, developers are delighted with TFS online and offline status. While offline use can be a problem, it usually occurs thanks to the native language of developers, their impatience and ability to read alert messages for the first time. I like the use of third-party software I use API REST standards.

The marketplace has extensions with a lot of variety.

I work for free from my PC without a local server.

I share all packages with my work team.

What do you like best about Azure DevOps Server?

My opinion about Team foundation server is that it is a powerful platform for managing, organizing teams and or and to keep structured projects Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I most dislike about team foundation server is that sometimes it takes too long to load.

A few times it has get frozen and I have to wait for it to unfreeze itself or even close the browser. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Microsoft Team Foundation Server is a great platform to use but if you team or company is still very small I don't think this will be the best option. But for a medium or big team I think this is a great suitable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

With Microsoft Team Foundation Server in the project that I am working it has help the team get organized and know what each person have to do with the helps of user stories, task, bug and so on.

What do you like best about Azure DevOps Server?

It's easy to use. Works well and integrates nicest with visual studio. Once you figure out the layout it really starts to shine. We only really use it for version control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Azure DevOps Server?

The location of buttons isn't the most intuitive. There's also a fair bit of general functionality that's missing that you would expect from a version control tool. However it's widely accepted that TFS isn't the best version control system out there. For our project it satisfies what we do. For much larger projects you'd definitely need to investigate a bit. Do your research. It's not the best tool for version control, but the built in big tracking is great. We don't really leverage that aspect but it is good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Azure DevOps Server?

I always Like the tree structure TFS presents. Easy to label branch merge, When integrated with visual studio the best plugins are available. I see the visibility that a bitbucket or Git presents but i think TFS still would give them a run for their money. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Administration errors are hard to fix.requires a higher level of skill to understand administration. Sometimes errors are too generic in nature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
