Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale a relational database in the cloud. It provides cost-efficient and resizable capacity while managing time-consuming database administration tasks such as hardware provisioning, database setup, patching and backups. It frees you up to focus on your apps so you can give them the better performance, availability, security, and compatibility they need. Amazon RDS is available on 6 familiar database instances: Amazon Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Oracle Database and SQL Server engines. This means that the code, applications, and tools you already use today with your existing databases can be used with Amazon RDS. Amazon RDS automatically patches the database software and backs up your database, storing the backups for a user-defined retention period and enabling point-in-time recovery. You benefit from the flexibility of being able to scale the compute resources or storage capacity associated with your relational database instance via a single API call. In addition, Amazon RDS makes it easy to use replication to enhance availability and reliability for production databases. Amazon RDS for MySQL also enables you to scale out beyond the capacity of a single database deployment for read-heavy database workloads. As with all Amazon Web Services, there are no up-front investments required, and you pay only for the resources you use.

What do you like best about AWS Cloud?

There are a lot of things that make it the best choice for our organization. It provides a great level of security and data privacy which is harder to implement on our own. I like the fact that it is just a 2 min process to run a VM and get your products deployed. It also can monitor resources and costs for all of them through the dashboard and also the ability to get SMS alerts for certain situations like server overload etc.

It also has a very good selection of topics for the tutorial videos that are easy to follow, so you don't need to go anywhere else to learn more about it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Cloud?

In my experience of using it so far I have not encountered any major issues but to nitpick I would say just like other clouds it also has some delays when spinning up a VM or some services respond slowly but occasionally.

Its cost might be one of the cons as it is cost-effective only when used with proper planning or you might end up paying the extra cost for just using 10% of service as the remaining were not useful for you. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about AWS Cloud?

There are a lot of tools available and they make it easier to integrate the products fast and reliably. e.g. there are custom ec2 images available and the ability to use specialized images for tasks such as ML. It is also quite easier to use Sagemaker and we are not forced to use terminal only.

What do you dislike about AWS Cloud?

While there are a lot of services that do perform up to the mark, there are small things like delays in response or not showing resource consumptions for all machines, our team works in diiferent zones so we need to switch them for monitoring pusposes.

It has made it very easy to integrate many products and use tools like Kubernetes already part of AWS to monitor the containers. It can easily be used to control access levels which allows us to keep sensitive data private for model building use.

What do you like best about AWS Cloud?

AWS Cloud offers the best Cloud Services and the largest solutions than any other vendor. Some of my personal best services are:

1) AWS EC2- Don't invest in Hardware just go for EC2

2) AWS S3- Now no more thoughts about Storage and Hard drives and backups, just use S3 and get the best performance Storage

2) AWS RDS- I have been using it for a quite long time and fetching and inserting the data is much more faster and reliable

3) AWS EBS - Which I had recently used to convert my drive from GP2 to GP3 and hence saved a lot from it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Cloud?

1) As per my usage over the last couple of years, the cost of AWS is a little bit on the higher side and cannot be afforded for the personal use

There are quite a large number of problems AWS is solving

1) Automating the manual tasks and hence improving the values to the customer, My team can now focus on the other major tasks by reducing the manual efforts

2) Now my team and customers are not worried about security as that part is being taken care of by Amazon Web Services
