Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) Overview

What is Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) makes it easy to set up, operate, and scale a relational database in the cloud. It provides cost-efficient and resizable capacity while managing time-consuming database administration tasks such as hardware provisioning, database setup, patching and backups. It frees you up to focus on your apps so you can give them the better performance, availability, security, and compatibility they need. Amazon RDS is available on 6 familiar database instances: Amazon Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Oracle Database and SQL Server engines. This means that the code, applications, and tools you already use today with your existing databases can be used with Amazon RDS. Amazon RDS automatically patches the database software and backs up your database, storing the backups for a user-defined retention period and enabling point-in-time recovery. You benefit from the flexibility of being able to scale the compute resources or storage capacity associated with your relational database instance via a single API call. In addition, Amazon RDS makes it easy to use replication to enhance availability and reliability for production databases. Amazon RDS for MySQL also enables you to scale out beyond the capacity of a single database deployment for read-heavy database workloads. As with all Amazon Web Services, there are no up-front investments required, and you pay only for the resources you use.

"AWS Cloud - Top Most Public Cloud Provider"
What do you like best about AWS Cloud?

AWS cloud is one of the best providers of user-friendly AI. It is 100 % reliable and very easy to use. It offers some commendable services because of which nothing seems like a huge task. And on top of that, my favourite part is the free tier account for services like Ec2.

The deployments using ECR and ECS are way to easier and user-friendly. We can easily create tasks and schedule them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Cloud?

The only minus point I feel is it can be quite expensive if not used with proper pre-planning. Also, I don't very much prefer the VPC Subnet service because once you delete default subnets by mistake you can't retrieve that again. So I feel some improvements can be done here. "AWS is a go to platform from a layman to an expert in this computer world."
What do you like best about AWS Cloud?

The best thing about AWS is that we get everything in one place. Once we get basic knowledge of all the available services we can set up our entire digital business in the AWS cloud itself. Since AWS provide services on a pay as you go model this reduces the upfront costs for any company and we can simply focus on our business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Cloud?

Even though most of the services are affordable, some services are expensive when we compare their worth to their usage. If we leave the services active without knowledge we might end up paying a hefty amount. Also, I feel if we have an option to shut down/stop all the services or an option to select the active services that can be stopped that will be the best thing. What do you like best about AWS Cloud?

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is leading the cloud technology in comparison to other cloud platforms because of its simplicity in delivering cloud services with a minimal amount of latency. It is a very easy task to understand any service that falls under AWS with proper demonstration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Cloud?

I've not yet experienced any downside while using AWS since I am a user, but the only concern with AWS is that its services are expensive. For the startups, its a huge deal when it comes up to costing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best entry in Cloud space. Great for Spring Boot App"
What do you like best about AWS Cloud?

AWS is no doubt one of the major players in the cloud space. I signed up for it and used RDS to set up my MySQL database. Database Setup was seamless and within 1 min, I got a cloud DB. I then used Elastic Beanstalk to create EC2 environment and deploy my Spring Boot app. What surprised me is the speed at which all the resources were provided to me. Very fast & very Efficient. What do you dislike about AWS Cloud?

The dashboard that you are provided with can be a little confusing as it consists of several components. Also, the UI dates back and it needs a new revamp. All the recently used services should be bookmarked and the billing needs to be more transparent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about AWS Cloud?

Community builder is adding yearly and the checklist is quite high, Even senior-level cloud engineers are not able to meet the requirements if they are not publically exposed so well, So AWS can give them chance and disable them if they are not fulfilling their responsibility, My kind of people only react when you assign some task with them Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
