It allows seamless attachment and detachment of EC2 instances.

One can rely on the security provided by AWS. There is no need to focus much on infrastructure security, which needs continuous surveillance and maintenance.

You can even connect one EC2 instance with two ENIs, each with a different subnet.

It is difficult to notice the downside of using Amazon Elastic Interface. However, I feel that managing configurations is a bit difficult to understand. So, those using need some sort of training to get familiar. But it is definitely nothing in comparison to what you are getting in return from this network interface.
