What do you like best about SQL Toolbelt Essentials?

I've been using Red-Gate Toolbelt for about 15 years. They changed how I develop. Between syncing structures from environment to environment (SQL Compare), to syncing metadata between environments (SQL Data Compare)... to writing good, nicely formatted SQL quickly (SQL Prompt).... I don't do SQL work without out. Working with other relational databases (like PostGres) just isn't as fast without these incredible tools I have in the SQL Server space.

I also like how your license "follows the person," so I can install the tools in all the places I work without licensing noise. Very nice move. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SQL Toolbelt Essentials?

You get what you pay for. Red-Gate isn't cheap, and you end up giving Red-Gate tools to your best and most productive people (because they'll get the most value). Ironically, this only increased the gap between your best and lease productive people and something to be mindful of when buying tools for your staff! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SQL Toolbelt Paid for Itself Many Times Over"
What do you like best about SQL Toolbelt Essentials?

Each one of the tools in the toolbelt have proven their usefulness and time savings over and over again. The SQL Compare is fantastic for quick and easy comparison of two servers to ensure they are in sync for the data objects. The SQL Data Compare is also extremely valuable to compare data between two servers and make the data transfer with a few mouse clicks. The SQL Prompt makes the job of SQL script writing a whiz. The SQL Data Generator is a huge help when creating a new system and you just need some quick random data to test out the design and queries. While those are the tools I use most, I use each one of the tools in the toolbelt and the cost was worth every penny as it saves numerous hours of work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SQL Toolbelt Essentials?

I have not found any downsids of the SQL Toolbelt as it has paid for itself many times over in time savings making the job of a SQL Developer and DBA a joy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about SQL Toolbelt Essentials?

The SQL Toolbelt Essentials suite helps speed your T-SQL development with SQL Prompt, which has much better text completion than SSMS' built in IntelliSense and saves tons of time by formatting your code just how you or your team like. SQL Compare will help you do diffs of your environments and sync them, providing a script that you can tweak and run. I've also saved lots of time with SQL Data Compare when dealing with lookup tables. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The only downside is that it's not free, so I'm always having to convince my organization to pay for licenses, and sadly, I often fail in that regard. The cost is well worth it, though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

SQL Prompt, SQL Data Compare, and SQL Compare save my team countless hours every week. The advanced IntelliSense in SQL Prompt, the ability to create custom templates, and the customizable formatting in SQL Prompt exponentially increase our developer productivity in SQL Server Management Server. SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare have become vital to our release process.
