What do you like best about MySQL?

I like how MySQL Workbench lets any user create a database for free on a local server, using primary keys and foreign keys to link together inventory, workforce, prices, and many other items needed for my business! It is very easy to view an ERD from MySQL Workbench without even logging into your database! Databases can also import table content from Excel sheets, and can be exported to Microsoft Access to make an ERD. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MySQL?

I dislike how certain errors occur when importing Excel sheets into MySQL Workbench tables. For example, when a Zip Code table is imported, the Workbench thinks that the "0" before certain zip codes is null, when, in fact, it is supposed to be a "0." I also dislike how foreign keys are so heavily related to primary keys, to the point where a table cannot be detached from another table without messing up every foreign key relation. Recommendations to others considering MySQL:

When using MySQL, be sure to not alter any tables using Microsoft Excel. Instead, edit all files that you will import as a plain text file using a plain text editor. Also, be sure to keep track of foreign key names, as foreign key IDs must match each other, while foreign key names must be different from each other. Make sure that you draw out an Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) before you start building your database. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is MySQL solving and how is that benefiting you?

With MySQL, I am solving our business's problem of managing CD sales. MySQL not only allows me to log such information towards my business, but it also lets me log employee information, and it also lets me easily and quickly find information using MySQL's own version of boolean operators. What do you like best about MySQL?

MySQL can be installed on multiple platforms with installaers and pakages to make installation very easy. It has nearly all of the features you'd expect of a SQL complaint database, with a few "platform specific" extras as well. I've been using mysql for more than 10 years in different scenarios, most of the time seamlessly integrating into the system I'm building. The community support is very good, and if you want it there's paid support too, tough I've never tried it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MySQL?

With all tools like this you have to be aware that ease of use comes at a cost of security. It's harder to implement a the security and reliability features that you might need as it is not set up out of the box. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about MySQL?

Mysql is an awesome database to learn for beginners. Mysql Database implementation is easy when compared to other databases. There are many plugins and packages to integrate into any code base without much effort.

What do you like best about MySQL?

A very good feature for MYSQL server is that we can use it for desktops. Since it is open source, we will have a good community support for any kind of help. Also it is easy to learn and code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about MySQL?

While installing sometimes connecting to local host will throw an error. I struggled a lot to fix that. Also the clustering part is not that much improved compared to other databases. Really slow for large databases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have used MYSQL for study purposes for the first time. It helped in creating tables, inserting values, and much more. After that, I have used MYSQL to create ER diagrams for my new project in the office.
