What do you like best about Laminas Project (formerly Zend Framework)?

Zend can be accessed from anywhere, being we use this in a retail setting this is vital as we need to be able to check up on different areas of the store to make sure what we are seeing is accurate. Despite Zend being pretty straightforward when an issue arises and you need to get the Zend support team involved, you may be waiting a while for a response. However, once the team does respond, they do an amazing job at getting your issue resolved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As for our results, we have seen this save us a ton of time versus the previous application. Zend is one that is definitely recommended in our industry and if you are in the market for on of the most compatible products, this is definitely it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Laminas Project (formerly Zend Framework) solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about Laminas Project (formerly Zend Framework)?

Excellent interface for databases, It is so easy to customize the view to represent how you want it. Especially when it comes to an application that may or may not be ajax.

I wish template variables were automatically included in nested templates. It's annoying having to pass the variables once in the controller and then again within the template when loading in a new piece. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have a large amount of custom routing and it makes it very easy to add or adjust routes and ensure they are getting where they need to go.

What do you like best about Laminas Project (formerly Zend Framework)?

We use the IBM i Zend Server solution and Zend Studio. Zend Server it is a fairly comprehensive server and Zend Studio is a well put together Eclipse build for PHP development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Support was great until they were purchased by Roguwave. Now it takes weeks for someone to respond and say they won't help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Laminas Project (formerly Zend Framework):

Support was great until it was bought by Rogue Wave, now it's mediocre.

Zend Server Professional has been great but with the removal of the community version they force you to buy support. If you were going to buy support anyway that it's a good choice.

Zend Studio is a solid PHP IDE which when used with Z-Ray (Zend Server) makes for a good development environment. Being based on Eclipse allows you to modify the IDE to your liking with the great ecosystem of Eclipse. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I prefer to work with open source frameworks, and Zend is one of the best.. It's just about everywhere now, and even if one of my developers hasn't used it in the past, it's easy to pick up. We use it a lot for the creation and documentation of APIs whenever we're wanting to connect with something in PHP (not always, but often enough). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
