"Not great"
What do you like best about IBM webMethods Integration?

I worked at a company that used WebMethods for a lot of custom client work; I used it to solve a lot of integration problems. As a whole it is pretty flexible and powerful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM webMethods Integration?

You have to use their IDE, which is pretty restrictive. There is no good way to make changes if you don't use it.

At the time I used this, different versions of WebMethods required different versions of the IDE, so I had to have 3 different IDEs installed at all times depending on which site I was working on. This could have changed, I used the product professionally until about 2012.

It took me a really long time to learn how to use. Their approach is pretty unconventional.

I don't know why they thought that the visual interface would make things easier to work with, it really didn't. They would have been better off with a solid DSL that could be editing in any text editor than the restrictive solution that they chose. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solid but overwhelming"
What do you like best about IBM webMethods Integration?

This tool is very useful and makes integrating services together easy, once you know what you are doing. Using this in conjunction with our product we were able to integrate to any system that already existed for our clients. This helped us make deals. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM webMethods Integration?

It was very difficult to learn how to properly set it up. Also because it had many options there were sometimes more than one way to do the same thing, and so when maintaining it you would need to know all of those options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"webMethods as a middle-ware tool is an overall solution for your Integration and ESB needs."
What do you like best about IBM webMethods Integration?

The versatile feature set that the webMethods product suite offers is exhaustive and it offers an industry class solution for every Integration need. It is one of the best product suites for use as an ESB solution. I have never faced any integration problem that we have not been able to solve using what's available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM webMethods Integration?

Some of the proprietary implementations for integration concepts does not allow for custom development. For example, the JMS implementation is customized and any change to it requires an engineering fix from SAG. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The Integrations server IDE, with 9.6 version has migrated from product specific IDE to eclipse based IDE. This is the best part. I also like the components that Software AG provide out of the box. I like flow process, adapter etc.. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM webMethods Integration?

The server being slow at times and can not run a developer environment on a laptop, because of all the services that WM installs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent Integration Tool"
What do you like best about IBM webMethods Integration?

Web Methods can be used to integrate a variety of systems in any IT landscape together. The bigger your business is and the more systems you'll have in your landscape, the more you'll need a tool like this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM webMethods Integration?

WebMethods has been around for a long time and while there have been some improvements to the interface, it's starting to show signs of age compared to some of the newer integration tools in the marketplace. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent Middleware tool for Enterprise Software"
What do you like best about IBM webMethods Integration?

At my former company, we used this tool extensively for connecting ERP systems to our software tool. This is an absolutely fantastic tool for mapping data and connecting systems together. At the end of the day, it's a bit cheaper than competing solutions like CastIron, but I've not really found any disadvantages to this tool compared with others despite the cheaper licensing cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about IBM webMethods Integration?

The interface can be slightly harder to use than one would like. Also, have had some problems on Mac with this tool. This was a bit of time ago, and it certainly was not a deal breaker at the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
