What do you like best about IBM AIX?

AIX is rock solid, has a ton of resources and the internal help screens are great. What I like best about this OS & hardware is the reliabilty as we've had virually no downtime. As i am an AIX user since 2012, a most favourite feature of AIXfor me most of the things can be done online without downtime. Like UPGRADE & Migration of OS Level. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Like Linux bit late in terms of various open-source tools to make it interactive and stands with other flavor of Linux. For example devops tools coming in picture but so late. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about IBM AIX?

I have been using AIX since last 12 years in our production and non production environment. Its highly secure, scalable and easy to use plateform. We have 10+ AIX VM images and used with combination of FileNet and Websphare. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Some unix commands don't work easily.

+ Stable and reliable. Practically no need restart or downtime unless you do major patch or upgrade

+ Soft partitioning can run different version (they call it LPAR)

What do you dislike about IBM AIX?

- used for core system in Banking, Telco that have very high throughput. Other than that, what else?

- mostly running also IBM DB2. But other databases slowly abandon this OS

- even IBM now provides Red Hat that can run on top of Power/ i-series server Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
