"Works across multiple database types"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

DbVisualizer works across different database systems and OS's with the same interface. The core functionality works reliably, as well as lots of nice little features, like a history of queries you've run, visually exploring relationships, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

It's a java based tool, so you can come across memory issues when trying to pull large results. Would be nice if it was cheaper as well :). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"occasional db user"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

I have mainly used dbvis to explore and update database tables in oracle and postgresql across multiple systems for many years, while writing or updating code. It's a quick and easy way to examine records and occasionally make quick changes. It also has a nice gui that leads you through building sql statements to alter properties. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

I think there is some room for improving the help/assistance in things like granting permissions and updating views. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fantastic and incredibly easy to use!"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

The software is so clean and easy to use. Very comprehensive, complete access, and decluttered access to the databases I'm using. It's very easy to use and organized which is a huge benefit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

Auto-completion could use some tweeks, but overall the program does exactly what I need it to do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Great Multi-Purpose SQL Editor and Database Management Tool"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

After years in the early part of my career using SQL Management Studio and editors such as Toad, I found the interface of DB Visualizer very familiar and easy to navigate. Very infrequently does it take me long to find the features that I'm searching for due to the intuitive nature of the UI. I'm continually impressed by not only the completeness of the tools available for each DB technology, but the intuitive nature of using them. I haven't found a lot of use cases where it was not an appropriate tool for me to use in order to meet my needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

The sync between your SQL Commanders and the open connections can be a little flakey and sometimes your SQL window will lose track with the state of a given connection. As a result, even if you re-establish the connection itself, you have to close the SQL Commander window and start over. It's not a huge deal, just an annoyance that almost never happens at a good time. There are also some memory management issues, such as when you accidentally pull back a very large record set. Under the wrong circumstances it can paralyze your entire system and prevent you from being able to halt the query process. In these cases you either have to wait (sometimes a very long time) for the client to fail or restart your machine. This doesn't happen often, but it's something that has happened to me in the past. "The best allround SQL tool there is!"
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

It is the best tool for both Mac and Windows, having a connection to every single database there is.

Whether you need to connect to a plain SQL Server, an AS400 or something really exotic, DBVis can do it. With a bit of luck the database driver is even distributed within the tool, otherwise it can be downloaded from the net or the community will help you in finding the right drivers.

The possibility of having multiple screens open, pin the result of a certain query is making the investment worth.

Just 5 strong points in a row:

* access to any database via open JDBC drivers (many drivers included in tool)

* grouping of database connections

* pin a result or a query to get easy acces to previous results or queries

* better overview than in many native SQL tools (e.g. SQL Server management studio)

* multi connections in professional version (paid option, but worth paying for) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

Once you start using it, you will be addicted to it...

I haven't found a single thing this I really dislike.

Sometimes there are some difficulties in connecting to a SQL Server engine with Windows authentication, but that is more due to the database set-up than to DBVis...

Another downside is that there is still no iPad client available. That would really rock the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"DbVisualizer is easy to use, easy to navigate and is a very effective db tool."
What do you like best about DbVisualizer?

The layout of the view is easily customized. Building queries with the query builder is easy to use. I can easily manage multiple databases. I do not run into issues when using this program that delay workflow or productivity. It is very nicely compatible with Mac OS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?

Very small things here. The application isn't as instinctual as more modern products, some things like running a filter on a table by pressing the enter key or auto connecting when I run a query and it isn't connected to the db would be a nice touch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
