What do you like best about CoderPad?

There are things together that make it the best. A comprehensive list of programming language choices, the built-in interpreter for running the code, the ability to playback interviews, reports on interviews conducted and even the drawing mode which is sometimes helpful when you want to explain the algorithm or some design aspect. Also I can write my private comments as an interviewer that I can later use during debriefs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoderPad?

Not necessarily downsides as such but I am thinking if Coderpad can integrate with Zoom / Google Meet and offer one, integrated interviewing solution, that might work great. Also adding some AI to it such that it can predict during the course of an interview how well it will go based on its past experiences with a given technical problem, would be great too. Response from Rachael Brandt of CoderPad

Hi Atman, I'm happy to read you enjoy using CoderPad. We are constantly thinking of ways to make our product better so I appreciate your feedback on integrations.

What do you like best about CoderPad?

We used CoderPad to hire some of our team's coders. Hiring was initially a stressful process, but with the help of CoderPad's hiring technology, it became simple. Before using CoderPad, we had to conduct manual interviews and go through multiple processes to bring people on board. It took a long time to find the right candidate. It was much better now that I had CoderPad.

As a customer, interviewers use CoderPad to host technical coding interviews. In general, it works well and provides users with an environment to code in various languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoderPad?

For auto suggestions, the code editor should be more responsive.

The practice environment should be placed in such a way that it is easily accessible.

Pricing that is open to the public and transparent Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rachael Brandt of CoderPad

Hi Ajay, thank you for your review! I'm happy to read your hiring process became much simpler with the help of CoderPad. We strive to be transparent on our pricing page and it sounds like we haven't totally accomplished that. If you have questions, please email us so we can sort out any open questions you may have.

What do you like best about CoderPad?

CoderPad gives an IDE-like experience, with language awareness for several of the most common and popular languages. It allows me, as an interviewer, to allow a smoother experience for our candidates, so they can focus on what they know best! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoderPad?

We've had several UI changes in the past year, some of which were very beneficial (an indicator to show which line an observer/candidate was in the code), but some changes came with much surprise, and it was a bit of work to refactor our use case to reflect these changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Molly Lindsay of CoderPad

Hey Chuck - thank you for being a fan and utilizing CoderPad to let the candidate's skills speak for themselves.

I'm really sorry to hear that UI changes caught you off guard - we have made it a priority to give customers a heads up when there are changes that would affect technical interviews. I will reach out to you, I'd like to learn more.

What do you like best about CoderPad?

I love the broad language support, the ability to save questions AND answers in different languages, and how straightforward it is to create a new interview directly from a previously saved question. It's fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoderPad?

Sometimes code execution can be a little wonky, especially for SQL questions. Sometimes you get strange/unexpected behavior, but I can honestly say I've only encountered that once or twice in the past. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CoderPad?

I like how light-weight it is. One click, and I have a pad I can share out to interview candidates! Easy to manage for your org by a simple 'add users' section. Supports any language I ever needed to test in, and it even provides a multi-file experience now for things such as react front-end testing! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoderPad?

Can't rename pads after the fact (at least not without going back in to them). Sometimes the replay feature is a bit clunky and hard to use in that the output doesn't show or is out of sync. I wish it was clearer, either on the list of pads page and/or in replay mode, how long the candidate took (total duration of the test). This is a very important metric for me. I know this is hard to calculate because we may accidentally leave the pad open once finished, but you could easily calculate the time difference between the first character typed, and the last. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Molly Lindsay of CoderPad

Thank you for the feedback. We are currently working on a few things that will make naming pads easier from the dashboard. We hope this will help with the naming.

As far as playback - again, thank you for the feedback. We are always looking at ways to improve and will pass this along to the product team—especially the need for having the total duration. As you mentioned, this is a bit difficult at times to measure because of leaving pads un-ended. But we will get this to the product team and push to make the playback feature even better!

What do you like best about CoderPad?

I've been using CoderPad for years as a hiring manager and hiring interview panel member for software engineering interviews.

The real time compilation and interactive terminal where candidates can write code in a natural way and see results immediately is stellar. You get to see candidates thought process and debugging skills in action in a very realistic environment.

The newer tools for managing interview questions and providing prefab interview question prompts is also really good.

And it's sometimes very useful to be able to replay interviews to see what the play by play was in order to refresh your memory. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoderPad?

The pricing is a little high for a small company like mine, particularly during lulls like the current moment (early 2023) when we're not doing much hiring. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Molly Lindsay of CoderPad

Hi Andy - Thanks for sharing your feedback. +1 to code playback, it's one of my favorite features as well. For your comment on pricing, we're looking at ways to make CoderPad accessible to companies at all growth stages, I will be sharing your feedback with the team.

What do you like best about CoderPad?

- Easy to share with candidates

- Has the option to choose many programming language

- Has a private notes section where it is easy to type during the interview

- Allows to review the session, and has a summary of the participants and who participated with a timeline.

- Can run and see results Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoderPad?

- No intellisense, so hard to do auto complete

- Not easy to include test frameworks, although it is possible, it would be easy to add as a shortcut

- No option to add audio and video, which is an important data about the session Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Molly Lindsay of CoderPad

Thank you for the feedback, and I have some information for you that might be helpful the next time you log in. We do have autocomplete in the IDE, however, it is a setting that may be turned off for your organization. I will link to our docs with steps on how to enable it.

https://coderpad.io/resources/docs/interview/pads/settings/

We offer audio and video in the live sessions, but we only record the actual coding session for privacy concerns. Do you send a lot of take home projects?

What do you like best about CoderPad?

It's straightforward to use. I've used it for hundreds of interviews, and there are usually no issues even with candidates who have never used CoderPad for the first time. Autocomplete works great too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoderPad?

- The real-time code checker is buggy sometimes, but it usually works great.

- Switching between different programming languages sometimes feels a bit glitchy, but this is rarely used, so it's not a big deal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
