Coderbyte is simple to use, straightforward, and does exactly what we needed it to do, which is to provide a colloborative coding environment for technical interviews. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing stands out, because like I said we just needed a colloborative coding environment for technical interviews and Coderbyte did that perfectly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We needed to run interviews and serve code assessments for quick candidate screening. Coderbyte helps you get the job done.
We didn't test all the features, like open ended assessments or behavioral questions since we already has a system in place for them, but the code feature was easy to setup and share. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In the chatGPT era, it is very difficult to make a remote assessment to demonstrate the candidate's learnt and innate ability to solve a coding problem.
Nowadays I expect everytone to be using an assistant to help the code solution. While coderbyte does seem to have some anti cheat feature, we didn't find it particularly useful.
Instead of restricting the interviewee workspace UI, I'd suggest to expand it and let them google search and use chatGPT on the same site. It's much more useful to see how they search or prompt than to suddenly see a code being pasted.
In any case, this has still been useful as a binary gate for the code stage. Everyone is expected to pass and red flag those who don't. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
* Good customer support
* Integrated google search inside the coding test
* ChatGPT plagiarism detection
* Cheap compared to other platform
* It has default stock questions for multi-choice question Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
* The monthly bill is considered a bit expensive for a company based outside the U.S
* Lately, every time the page change (moving) the page come into a freeze state without loading screen
* Erasing candidate assesment withing 90 days after subcribtion cancelment
* Multi-choice question stock for some language is lacking Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's simplicity. You can pick the profile or skill you want to assess and it will make a proposal you can launch in minutes. At the end you can just trust what the systems suggest. Of course you have to review the results and use your own judgement to considert the candidates valid or not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As it's focused only on developers, it's been hard to implement in other departments, such as Product or Quality, who work very tightly with the developers.
There is also little capacity to deploy general rules to all the assessments, which is important when you have several process (or seniority levels) in parallel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
CoderByte allowed us to pick from a broad range of question topics including calling an API which a lot of other assessment platforms did not have. The questions were up to date and could not easily be found when performing an internet search. Users are able to watch in video format what the candidates were doing on their screen. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the video stopped after a long period of time if the candidate reviewed the question and then came back at a later date. Additionally, down time was counted in the time it took for a candidate to complete a question which made it difficult to guage an exact time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As a 37-year-old senior lead programmer, I've found Coderbyte to be a game-changer in our hiring process. It's my go-to platform for assessing candidates' coding skills efficiently and objectively. The standardized challenges on Coderbyte help me screen through a large pool of applicants, saving valuable time and resources. Additionally, the insights into candidates' problem-solving approaches and coding styles provide a personalized touch to the evaluation process, making it a cost-effective and flexible solution for our technical hiring needs. I've encountered a couple of drawbacks with Coderbyte. Firstly, it sometimes feels like the platform lacks a direct connection to real-world application. While the challenges are beneficial for assessing coding skills, they don't always mirror the complexity of the tasks we handle in our day-to-day projects.
Secondly, Coderbyte tends to put a spotlight on individual coding performance. In our work environment, collaboration is key, and the platform doesn't fully capture a candidate's ability to work seamlessly within a team. Our projects often require effective teamwork and communication, aspects that may not be fully reflected in the solo-focused nature of the challenges.
These shortcomings have led me to believe that a more comprehensive approach to hiring, considering both individual coding proficiency and collaborative skills, is essential for building a well-rounded and effective team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Coderbyte helps us to assess coding ability and has become a core part of our interviewing process. It saves our team time by helping us screen for basic competency, in an async manner, before we advance a candidate on to team interviews with our staff. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the challenges need some work or need to be refined further. Some candidates have reported bugs and issues when attempting to complete the coding challenges through Firefox and other less popular browsers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Every platform has its quirks, and Coderbyte for Employers is no exception. While my journey with Coderbyte has been remarkable, there are a few aspects that I believe offer opportunities for growth and improvement. Here's my unique review highlighting what I dislike about Coderbyte for Employers:
Limited Assessment Variety:
Although Coderbyte offers a diverse range of coding challenges and assessments, there are instances where I wished for more variety. While the existing assessments cover many essential programming areas, an expanded repertoire of assessment types, such as project-based evaluations or interactive coding exercises, could provide a more comprehensive evaluation of candidates' skills and potential.
Learning Resources for Candidates:
Coderbyte primarily focuses on assessment and evaluation, which is commendable. However, it would be beneficial if the platform offered additional learning resources for candidates. Including educational materials, tutorials, or coding exercises to help candidates improve their skills and address knowledge gaps would create a more well-rounded experience. This would not only benefit the candidates but also enhance the overall quality of the talent pool on Coderbyte.
Advanced Analytics and Insights:
While the skill reports provided by Coderbyte are informative and insightful, I would appreciate more advanced analytics and actionable insights. Going beyond the surface-level breakdown, incorporating predictive analytics or data-driven recommendations could help employers make more accurate decisions and optimize their hiring processes. Access to deeper insights about candidates' potential and cultural fit would be invaluable in selecting the ideal candidates for my organization.
Enhanced Collaboration Features:
As an employer, collaboration with colleagues and team members plays a vital role in the hiring process. It would be beneficial if Coderbyte offered enhanced collaboration features, such as the ability to share assessments and candidate profiles with team members, leave comments or feedback, and facilitate seamless communication within the platform. These features would streamline the evaluation process, promote teamwork, and expedite the decision-making process.
User Interface Improvements:
While Coderbyte's user interface is generally user-friendly, there is room for refinement and improvement. Simplifying navigation, enhancing the visual aesthetics, and optimizing the overall user experience would elevate the platform's usability and make it even more intuitive for both employers and candidates.
In summary, Coderbyte for Employers is a remarkable platform with immense potential. While there are areas that I believe offer opportunities for growth, such as expanding assessment variety, providing additional learning resources, advanced analytics, enhanced collaboration features, and refining the user interface, I remain optimistic about the platform's continuous evolution. Coderbyte's commitment to innovation and user satisfaction gives me confidence that these aspects will be addressed in the future, further enhancing the platform's value for employers seeking exceptional talent. While there's always room for improvement, as an employer, we're delighted with the value CoderBytes has added to our recruitment process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While CoderBytes is an overall robust and effective platform, areas for improvement could significantly enhance the user experience. One of our primary concerns lies in the platform's lack of diversity in the programming problems presented. Although the quantity and difficulty range of issues is impressive, the challenges often lack a focus on real-world, practical scenarios. This can make gauging a candidate's ability to apply their skills in a realistic work context can be challenging. Additionally, while clean and easy to navigate, the interface could benefit from more sophisticated and modern design elements to keep up with the current design trends in tech platforms. Finally, while CoderBytes provides great analytics on individual performance, there is a lack of deeper comparative analytics, which could offer valuable insights into a candidate's performance about their peer group. These improvements would undoubtedly propel CoderBytes to new heights in technical recruitment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
